Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán has a long history in mariachi music performance and recordings. The group was founded six decades ago by the late Jose "Pepe" Martinez, Sr. and then given to his brother Fernando when Pepe transitioned to musical director of Mariachi Vargas de Tecaliltán. Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán performs this amazing piece "Pasos Dobles" under its current musical director Fernando Martinez. The Mariachi Extravaganza is produced by San Antonio based MPR (Muñoz Public Relations). Our mission is to utilize the mariachi music platform to promote higher education and cultural preservation among Hispanic youth. A portion of proceeds generated from the Mariachi Extravaganza is awarded in scholarships and grants to vocal competition winners.
