Sooo much Soul/Gospel influence on this album! I agree it is a more cohesive project than her debut. I usually would prefer a cohesive album but I just really loved how eclectic her debut was. It was full of surprises for me!
Till the end of time and The Wind are my personal favorites. Also if you notice, at the end with “Till the end of time” you hear actual wind and that is the beginning of the song “The wind”.
I love “The Wind” 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 ... And I noticed that while I was editing. I thought that the next track had started playing then realized it was just the end of “Till the end of Time”. I love transitions like that!
Another title for the intro of You’re So Cold: *Mariah Carey outsinging the whole industry in 1 minute with 5 octaves* 😭😂 My favorite song from this album is Till The End Of Time!! I’m still shocked this album sold less than her first album
This album also has like a very theatrical movie soundtrack sounding sound in addition to the Jazz/blues/Gospel. Can You Hear Me totally fits in with those kind tracks
This album really is my favourite, Mariah really delves into jazz, Blues/Soul and Gospel and that mixture is just heaven to me, while being engaging, energizing, fun, groovy, soulful. I just love the feel of the band thing she was doing during this era too! With MTV Unplugged. Mariah comes alive when there's a band behind her and that's one of the things she says a childhood friend once told her, in her memiors and that's my first impression of this album. It sounds very authentic because the beats are made from real instruments, and its not added in from a computer (no shade) its one them albums, you can listen to over and over! You're so cold intro is just the best intro ever! 🥰💖
In my top 5 albums from her>>till the end of time and the wind had me mesmerized the first time I listened😭 and yessss so blessed is very overlooked in her discog, I love it
I think I speak for almost every lamb when I say you haven't experienced Make It Happen until you hear it live. You should react to its performance in "Fantasy: at Madison Square Garden" or maybe "Divas Live 98". The studio version is sooooo bleak compared to it.
Can wait till u check out Daydream & Butterfly! Those are BY FAR her 2 best albums & I think butterfly is Arguably the best female r&b album of the entire 90s! I’d have Aaliyah “One In A Million” Mary “My Life” Brandy “Never Say Never” & Toni Braxton’s debut & her “Secrets” album all in the top 10 with it!
To me honestly this is best and hardest vocal album she ever made. And she had a lot of good ones too. So blessed, to be around you, and till the end of time just got for me on this album. But all the songs are great.

You gotta react to Butterfly & daydream by her!! Those are by FAR her 2 best albums! And I believe Butterfly is a top 5, probably Top 3 Solo Female R&B album of the 90s!!!!
She sang that in mtv unplugged. If it's over. Made together with her idol carole king. Supposed to be they will do a cover. But end up writing a song together
Curious what your top 5 from her will be. It’s 1. Butterfly 2. Daydream 3. Emancipation of Mimi 4. Emotions 5. Caution for me. Then Glitter and Rainbow right outside - both so underrated as albums
Sony loved the black and white video lol Mariah didn’t really start having control or say of her videos until fantasy and even more so on honey My favorite songs from this album And you don’t remember Make it happen So blessed emotions If you notice most Mariah early videos from 90-93. She on a beach or some other scene fully or mostly clothed that’s tommy and Sony doing I think her next album Music box is her most ballad heavy album
Haha they sure did! But the 90s black and white video is so classic I can’t even be mad. Also I have noticed that about the one scene thing and being fully clothed in her early videos. That’s why I was so surprised with her look in the ‘Can’t Let Go’ video; that cleavage was OUT, the dress was short, and her hair seemed to be straightened; which I’ve heard her say she wasn’t allowed to do at the time. Also I love your top tracks; I’m not too crazy about Make It Happen but I LOVE the other 3! I actually wish I would’ve rated ‘And You Don’t Remember’ higher!
@@AnActorReacts the video for i don't wanna cry featured a lil dress with a lot of thigh. She had some moments. i don't know what she was or wasnt allowed to do, but i remember the media being shocked when he had CLG physically removed from shelves and returned to the label. he did NOT want it hitting #1.
3:26 same but I’m umm I can’t now I need to be reborn first Edit 10:47 you’re literally the best!!! Edit 2 I only listen to the intro to “You’re so cold” sometimes without the rest of the song
I hope the Lambs don’t come for me... but Emotions is one of my most disliked Mariah albums (if not the most). She was serving VOCALS, I’ll give her that. I think Emotions, Make It Happen and If It’s Over all have live renditions that sound way better than the album versions (imo). I LOVE Can’t Let Go, and the rest of the songs are sooo unmemorable and boring, imho.
That's why the sales of emotions was kinda flopped in Mariah's standard. (Reason why cant let go went down due to pulling out the song in the store so that it would boost the sales of the album itself) considering it's after the debut album that made people expected more.. That's why the label forced her to do standard heavy ballads in music box. To get back what they loss in Emotions.
