Bay Dwi it was beautiful in 1998 especially in her tribute to Aretha franklin and her performances during glitter era where everything. Charm bracelet tour was great too and she had a lot of good performances in 2005.
Luther gives Mariah his nod of approval/astonishment between 2:17 and 2:19. She sounded out of this world, specifically here. Just absolutely sensational.
When you think the incredible ladies Luther had sung with in his legendary career... Aretha, Dione, Diana, Patti, Gladys, Whitney, you can see how high a regard he held Mariah. He knew she was part of that pantheon of great female singers already.
@@carlcarey327 And it was Music Box when her upper belts started to gain power (support, pitch, vibrato, resonance, placement). That was her most vocally consistent era, and her vibrato was on point
Mariah's pitch and runs are out of this world. Untouchable agility and musicality. 02:05 0:17 In the First "love" there is a little run, it's insane because it's so fast and well done it's almost impossible to notice.
When you have that voice it’s no wonder people now say she’s lost it.... people have to remember when you started with Mount Everest it’s a long way down. But you can never take away from the fact that at her best back then she had it all... a voice of equal beauty, power, range and technical ability that was completely unique.
Imagine being in that audience.. it is so surreal now... It’s like another person another life ago.. And Luther already gone... this was perfect... and then look at today’s singers..they could never..
God. To that guy named Nostril Jacker or whatever saying that this type of singing destroyed her voice well excuse me. Singing runs and ad-lib or inflections or whatever does not destroy your voice wherever you got that assumption. Straining destroys your voice. Pushing notes you can't hit destroys it. Runs show agility and musicality. So back off. Sorry my inner lamb self could not handle. This is also for singers like Beyonce, Tori Kelly and JoJo who share Ms Carey's knack for agility
Wow. She is trying to control her vocals and they keep running away on her. Wow. You can hear her final push of air at the end of her some of her sentences and it sounds incredible. Hes awesome too. Xx
@@theshowmustgoon4287 thats not what he meant. Luther is over Mariah anyday. What he meant was Luther did a great job being the sencondary voice because the song is meant to be sung with the woman's voice (Mariah) as the primary voice.
@@tysnypez6847 Secondary voice? Sung with a woman's voice? He started the song. It's a duet + Luther ft. Mariah. Luther's voice is incredible + Mariah matched that with her excellent voice.
Bear in mind this is Lionel & Diana Ross masterpiece. 3 divas already did justice to this song most notably Mariah Carey. Whitney Houston 97 & 98 while Celine Dion rare performance in 1990 (you may search for it in youtube)
When Mariah is singing with someone on stage, you could really see her ticks. It's really funny. Though, I wish she toned it a bit further down here so I could hear her voice well. Nonetheless, amazing as always.
ishalalacandulah Tooki215 you know how she flings her arms around? She looked very animated whereas Luther was just standing there. The contrast highlights her ticks.
It's not louder, she has her unmatched resonance which is simply incredible despite the low audio quality. In the popular version on Luther's Channel Mariah has her microphone lowered by a semitone so as not to eclipse Luther at her concert, and she shines anyway, in the performance on Mariah's Channel the microphone is at the same volume as well as in this performance.
You aren't wrong. Though she sounded great here and pretty much buried Luther beneath her (though he sounded great too), this is a master class on how to get nodes and destroy your voice. Every note she sings is a lick, run, or something ornamental. She barely sings the melody at all. She did far too much of it and it killed her voice.
Nostril Jacker lmao you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. Even before embarking on a solo career she had nodules. And if her voice was “destroyed” then why does she still sell out arenas? Who in there right right mind would pay to see someone who can’t sing anymore? No one in this economy I assure you.
@@theshowmustgoon4287 These people who want to belittle the greatest vocalist of all time without a reason. It is Luther who has tried to keep up with Mariah and despite being perhaps the best male vocalist Mariah is superior to anyone in her prime.
