People wonder why she lost her stage confidence and lips now. Because its people out here that criticize her as if she is a robot and she will sing perfectly forever. She overworked her voice, but she has not lost the skill. She has the vocal prowess that plenty of the Pop Peppermint Patties lack. No other singer that's still relevant after this long did the notes that she did , except maybe Celine. So Mariah has paid her dues, and wrote her name in the book of Vocal Legends where she belongs. Don't knock her down, build her up.
don't get me wrong I obviously love her regardless of the era, but around that time she seemed so mature yet so young still. and so beautiful!!! love her
KellyXtotheO Wow! Mine is Daydream, but I also prefer Butterfly in terms of her songwriting ability, because that is when she wrote her heart out and put all her emotions in her song. She consider it as her magnus opus, that's why I also love Butterfly album.

She seemed hesitant when she was talking about Tommy Motolla, sometimes I wonder if she was throwing out hints or sarcasm when she was like "And I wanna thank Tommy Motolla and Diana and the rest of the people at Sony...I know what you guys did and I appreciate what you do." I wonder if she knew there was some trickery going on around that time because it's clear that her and Tommy were divorced and their professional relationship was tarnishing and effecting her a bit.

Mariah Carey is certainly at the top of this list as is: Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Sinatra, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Ozzy Osbourne.
Loved the performance! People are so hard on Mariah! It's because her voice is so amazing and her songs can bring you so much pleasure hearing the skills of all her talent! Every singers and entertainers voices go thru being horse from their schedule and being so busy and having to use their voice way more than what is healthy, but they don't get hated on like her because they never appreciate the performances that are so amazing! No one can compare to this women on her worst day then or now! Especially the past 3 -4 years her confidence is stronger and her nerves aren't as bad that if you catch her on a good day with the appropriate amount of rest, she could and impress any hater! She's treated unfairly for how talented she is and how deep some of her songs are! She's a legend❤💯
I don’t understand how she can flip to her breathy falsetto in the middle of a word. She’s definitely a master of that Rarely ever goes even a hair off pitch while doing so.

I think not 1990 to 1996 but 1990-1992. Musicbox and Merry Christmas are the transitions. Daydream she sounds very girly and lighter and sing with different vocal style. 1990-1992 more gospelly
her voice just was tired and overworked which developed her nodules even more which made her voice sound thicker not because it matured. it matured around 2009-2011 around when she was pregnant and she was getting in her 40s. it happens with most of people's voices.
WOW!, sing it to me like you use 2!!! 9 years from now in 2008, your voice is out of shape. I miss its beauty and strength! There will be many copy cats that spring up! You have set the world on fire trying 2 obtain that melodic style in a international TV show - "Idol" franchise! Your ego blows up a bit but in the most important ways, U stay very humble 2 your fans and the good lord above. Rough times are ahead but U triumph in such a victorious way breaking records no 1 else wil 100 years!!
People keep saying her tone gets lighter through the years. Listen to Mariah specifically when she holds out the notes like the “again” or the “iiiii still believe” and you can here how much older and thicker her tone sounds. It kind of makes sense that the Mariah now uses vibrato a lot less (she’s used it A LOT 2016 and 2017) today but her tone is so heavy now. When you’d hear 1990-1994 Mariah hit those same notes they were lighter, younger, and freer so vibrato and acrobatics came easy to her. 1995 and on was the start of her voice really maturing, right when she mastered her voice technically (which is why she went for so many notes, but also why 1996 she started getting really raspy at times, then 97, is when the vocal change set in). Regardless, bitch has always sounded noice.
Guys, calm the fuck down, it's a natural thing. The more we age the more our vocal cords widen, especially for someone like her who's always singing high notes. Hers gets worn out easier than the rest of us. People actually risk having to inject silicone by there vocal cords just to tighten it up to get their voice back or a higher pitch
People need to quit saying mariahs voice went down in 97, it didnt go down, she just matured when she was about 28, which is right because thats about the time sopranos voices mature in their late 20s because they have the highest voices
