To all you armchair critics, couch haters and lip-synch claimers; there's no need to try and defame a vocal legend whose voice is a world wonder/marvel of nature. Mariah Carey is undoubtedly an extraordinary singer with extraordinary vocal abilities and you shouldn't try to defame her just because your vocal cords can't fathom producing such notes. We all have our gifts in life/things we excel in and some may not have any at all but you should simply pray and hope that you find your calling and achieve some happiness, serenity and contentment rather that going down the path most of you are going. #BitternessAintCute
If you listen to the studio version of this song, and then this live performance, there are CLEAR differences. Most notably, the extended whistle notes are not found in the original recording of the song. So whether she sang here live or not, she DID infact provide those vocals, even if she did prerecord her performance a few days before, which is quite popular among other artists. (i.g Adele at the Oscars, Beyonce at the Inauguration)
It is true, however, I believe some of these notes were pre recorded. 3:09 its her normal voice and then the next higger note is super super clear and bright, she could never do that after struggling so much with a lower note. I think that one was pre recorded. But as a disclaimer I am a huge fan and that is actually why I watch every performance and video of hers :)
Carlos Kilpatrick Definitely not! Even the ending whistle was different than the original track! I thought she did great, but it could have been better knowing MC.
@@ToxicWareProductions Ever heard of pre recorded tracks? Céline and Mariah which I stan uses them. They are the vocals that are specially recorded. They are not dumb to use the studio version for live performances/lip syncing
Esdras Guerra might be cause of her nodules or something. Whistle notes don’t hurt if they’re executed properly, but sometimes in chest it becomes uncomfortable if you didn’t properly engage all your muscles and support.
There seemed to be a lot of sadness in Mariah's eyes during this performance. Whatever was going on, I'm sure this can't have been emotionally easy to sing.
My God those whistle notes....every single time she takes me to heaven with that voice...it's literally the most beautiful angelic sound ever....My Songbird Supreme LEGEND
Mariah is such an incredible singer. That’s why we can see pressed people here saying “it’s lipped” lalala. Just enjoy the music. Be thankful we still have legends like her who keeps on making MUSIC.
I get shivers every time I hear this song! I know it can't be easy to sing, yet she kills it every time! She is truly amazing and the most talented singer ever!
Mariah can still hit those notes. However, I feel her transitions are not as smooth as they used to be and I'm ok with that, because you can clearly see once she has the high note she can still hold it and manipulate it.
Mariah is a great artist and it must be very difficult to go to that pitch sometimes in person, especially if you're not feeling the hottest that day. She did a great job live, considering some artists don't do that well live.
Através deste vídeo conheci essa grande diva e até hoje sou sua fã e mesmo gostando de todas as suas canções essa e a que mais me encanta até hoje❤️ i love you Mariah Carey ❤️🇧🇷

The lovely Ms Carey,I was in NY for this performance and managed to see her, she sounded gr8 live she is still def one of my faves..And her perfume Forever is very nice too.
I can't believe there are people who cannot hear the difference between the live parts and the pre-recorded parts. It's so obvious, in the live parts her voice is husky and starts to crack in the middle range, you can hear and see her strugglen and then, all of the sudden, she starts to belt and all the most difficult notes are flawless...
+Timothy Dupree she had 20 #1 as of 2015. She mentioned in a few of her interviews. You should watch her carpool too, it's also mentioned there. So technically she has a change of beating the Beatles. She just needs 2 more #1s as of now she is the best selling female artist in history of music. Respect to legend Mariah, also for writing her own music since she started singing in the late 80s.
+MJ JACKSON she has 18 #1s. Simply look up her #1 to Infinity album, if you need clarity on which songs made it to #1, 3 of her songs came in at #2 so wish they went to #1
you are right but sorry don't put gaga demi and justin in the same bag, they have different voices demi's and gaga's are strong and powerfull and justin's one is sweet and sexy, but RIRI and KIKI HAVE NO TALENT!But of course Queen M is the Best!
Absolutely amazing especially the contrast between the struggle in chest voice and then the whistle part with open lungs (few seconds before the whistle) WOWOWOWOWOWOW
+piotr golec Mariah don't need to lip sync whistling. She's the queen of whistling and everyone knows that. Obviously you have no clue. who Mariah is. MC is the best female artist of all time. Do your research and have some respect for living legends cause we don't have that many left. Mariah is a huge influence and inspiration on Ariana. Her records can't be beat period! So stop comparing shitty music to real talents where no auto tunes, lip syncing is involved. SMDH Mariah's music is timeless like Whitney. Have some respect and learn more on music history.
+piotr golec That one and a few more. Not all of them, but I noticed that the higher notes in a full register are all lip synch, as they sound exactly the same in all performances, there is the same stretch at the same exact point, and you can hear it because her voice is not 100% ready (being this recorded early in the morning) but it is perfectly sharp and pitched in those bits. I wouldn't blame her, she would have her vocal chords damaged big time by now if she were to perform every single song completely live over and over. Time takes its toll on everyone, it's just that, not hating, apart from that she's still very good.
vincent jimenez No its not a lipped performance Mariah is actually having vocal issues here you can see how she struggle on those falsetto that she did but actually that help her to do the whistle part of the song making the whole song to be sing live.
+Perf Estrada she struggled with all her normal chest voice, then she struggled with her falsetto that's why the back track is so loud . And there is no way in hell the whistle was live, even in her prime Mariah didn't move that much while she hit whistles so, no way she's moving that much and hitting it flawlessly in this era .
vincent jimenez Honestly she moved a lot more performing Emotions in Japan I think it was. where she wore the black trench coat. Even walked a little short of half the stage while she performed the whistles in apreggio. Personally, I don't think it was lip synced because it wasn't even impressive. it sounded like she fell short but kept trying to hold it so it "shivered then shriveled" rather than held strong.
