I love the fact that she was not on a good day vocally speaking and yet she could deliver one of the most impressive performances of this song !! She's a monster !! Iconic !!

This is why Mariah is legendary. People think it's because of her range. It's her improvisational skills. I'm sure she didn't hit all of the expected $ notes because her voice was tired, but she is able to improvise runs and dance all around the melody that you think she sang the song differently because she just intended/wanted to. She just makes it seem like she re-mixed her own song and most people are none-the-wiser. That heiffa can sing circles around most other singers with just 1 octave --- the 1st two verses of her version of Stevie Wonder's "You & I," case and point.

*She doesn't need a flawless vocals anymore. She needs CONFIDENCE and I miss Mariah with an overflowing confidence in her performances. 😭*

She's totally in her element when she fuses her R&B music with gospel. Forever will take my breath away.

Probably the most powerful performance of this song. 3:40 when the background singer screams “SIIING” has an amazing impact on Mariah instantly. She doesn’t care, she isn’t insecure, she’s just enjoying the moment. Wow

I think she was going to crack at 3:01 but she caught herself up and styled it out with an improvised run. She is a genius.
