I love that you acknowledge the fact that pre-recorded or not, she still sang it. A lot of people attack Mariah when she uses pre-recorded tracks as if it was not Mariah's voice still singing those parts.
The vocal segment used was actually just the vocals from the track. No taking anything away on her live parts her runs, tone, clarity was beautiful! I'm doubtful she has ever sang this climax live, which is a shame as her voice was on point during charmbracelet era, she couldve branggg it. She still did Caution is amazing!
I think what you are saying is wrong and I think you are probably unaware of the work that can take place in the studio when producing vocals. It is a nice fantasy to believe that the lead vocal on this song particularly the climax was recorded in one take from beginning to end. But it simply didn’t happen. What singers voices are capable of at any given period in their life is what we see them produce live, not what we hear on their record or on a lip sync performance. I haven’t seen any performance from Mariah in this period to suggest that she was capable of singing this vocal in the studio never mind in a live performance. If she could have, she would have.
Mariah is a very bad lip sync performer. You KNOW when it's not live as she will not move and focus on her appearance/look/cuteness lol. When it's live she's just like she was there, focus on the vocals and technique and the emotions just follow naturally without her having to try to look cute. It's that simple. It's MC.
She sounds at ease belting the climax because she is mixing voice. Her vocal and breath control is monsterous. She has some struggles belting purely with chest but when she starting using mixed. She sounds out of this world and unbelievable. NOW THIS IS A REAL VOCALIST
@@tupepangan8462 the voice naturally mixes anyways the higher yuh go... i used to think that was a lie... i argued some about it... but no singer is singing completely chest.... its either more chest or more head voice....
This is absolutely live. The Charmbracelet Era was one of her most vocally impressive eras ever, as viewing many live performances from this period will attest. Furthermore, the climax vocal here is not identical to the record as one person claims - this live vocal is better! The entire vocal here (in both songs, in fact - she also sang Through the Rain that day), not just the climax, is flawless from start to finish. She was well-rested (as she states in the interview) and thus in PHENOMENAL voice in 2002-2003, which many consider her 2nd prime. Thanks for reacting to this!
This was LIVE. You don't disrespect Oprah by pushing the 'play' button on pre-record. This is just Mariah at one of her vocal peaks. The only superlative that I think worthy of this performance is stupendous! It's so off the scale of what most humans can produce it's almost hard to believe. But that is the gargantuan talent that Mariah has. Will she reach this level again? NO, of course not, but she doesn't have to. One need only climb Everest once. When the wheel of fortune turns and we all try and grasp the level of influence and contribution that Mariah has made to music all will stand in awe. She's truly one of the best singer-songwriters that's ever lived. This performance was angelic in quality and you can hear the divine in her voice when she sings like this, her voice is God's gift to her and the world at large: glorious.
Hogarth Brown How Beautiful! Your words are true and come from your heart about Mariah! She was born to sing and write the songs from her soul and heart!
@@DarrenHazel u the first to jump on Mariah's throat. We all know her high notes were on fleek during this era but the rest was. Still u cant say that when Oprah would not allow her to use a pre recorded
Mariah's LIVE vocals during the Charmbracelet era are so underrated! She sounded amazing! I remember back then her Shining Through the Rain live that was so intimate and she delivered outstanding performances! I would play the videos so many times that everybody in this house would know the songs. I think that Charmbracelet is my favorite album of hers. If it's not, I will always cherish that era.
Plus understand she was resonating through her sinuses and her chest simultaneously, During this era her voice had supreme quality and clarity so it wasn't so farfetched that she could reach those notes not continuously but consistently enough. I don't know if she cut the booze or not but her voice had gained a power that she hadn't possessed in years before then check out her performances of "yours" MTV UK and "the one" shining through the rain you won't be disappointed trust me.
@@joshthecarman The high G belts are all pre-recorded. This entire performance was mostly live except for the high belty parts. Mariah will always be paradoxical in that she sometimes leans on prerecorded tracks for the high belts of songs, yet in the same performance, will deliver live whistle notes about an octave or two higher than what she is lip syncing. It's fascinating
TOTALLY LIVE.....Mariah's never lipped when she performed at Oprah's, this was her at one of her peaks, but it sounds unreal because she used MIXED VOICE here. It is as if she used chest and head voice in a belted mode.....crazy stuff that made her the legend she is. She uses that technique in Through the Rain and Wish you knew. It sounds crazy, but its live!
@@DETTERIOR she still sang Hero the best she could and on top of that she just finished the legendary Daydream Tour so her voice was extremely tired so she had to lip that one time on Oprah.
One additional bit of evidence the climax is indeed live: Note the clear "thump" sound from the live mic at 4:12 as she switches it from one hand to the other during the phrase "catching my every fall". That sound is even more clearly audible at the 3:36-3:37 mark on the original video than it is here.
This is definitely live. When shes singing "catching my every fall" you can hear the noise as she switched her mic from the left hand to the right, as well as the raspiness in her whistle note.
Clemer Silva Honestly her voice is bi-polar one moment it’s falling apart the next she’s opening heavens gates again with her higher notes. That’s not a very good excuse to use for you to think she’s lip syncing.
I dont care either its pre recording, live or whatever it was. We all know she can sing. So what else? Name any singer that can sing like Mariah. Haters please, show some respect to MC. Your favvy will never compete MC.
Guess you are SHOOKED that it's live baby...LOL! It is LIVE...ALL OF IT! You can hear her voice is worn at the end of the song. This song always gives me the hope I need. Gosh Mariah Carey has taken us on musical journeys we could've only dreamt of.
It's not pre recorded. You can hear her wind in the mic through the whole song. Also, Mariah never went on Oprah with playback..she can actually sing her own songs..haha..you can also tell by her muscles and the way she's breathing..as a singer, you can tell when someone is lipping..believe me, this was very live. ALSO, you can watch her sing this song on the Soul Train awards, and she killed it MUCH better than this performance. TRUST ME.
For some singers , including myself ; it's easier to belt than to sing softly, or vice Versa. That's why sometimes she'll struggle a bit on the softer parts and then go ham on the climax.
Glam Peaches YES i agree with you , its a lot harder to sing softly or in falsetto because you need to have a lot of air and breath support to sing it perfectly especially when the weather is cold and i cant sing falsetto properly when its morning , when i havent warmed up yet, but its easier for me to belt even its morning and when the weather is cold it may be raspy but it still easier to belt than to sing softly or in falsetto :)))) , But i stull dont know if this is live or not , it may be live or not, i mean SHES MARIAH CAREY she can fool us whenever she wants too, but as a fan , i know when shes lipping ,i know her face when shes lipping , but in this performance she may be singing live, im not sure , but idc ill just enjoy the performance, because shes done so many live performances , singing is not just a hobby for her yeah of course it is she loves singing , but its also a job for her , she needs to singg daily high notes after high notes since the early 90s , thats why i dont care anymore if shes lipping , SHES A LEGEND AND A PERSON SHE NEEDS TO REST HER VOICE IF SHE WANTS TOO :)))))
I don't know why people always get so surprised when she sings in the 5th octave or higher. I mean she's been doing it for the past 29 years and people still think she can't
It's live bro, it's not prerecorded lol. The magic of Mariah when you can't tell if it's the track or not. It's Oprah so Mariah is not going on there with playback, there's a few live versions and each are different. Charm was definitely her second prime. Can you react to Mariahs "We Belong Together" live on Oprah? I want you to hear Mariahs "All I Ever Wanted" & "There For Me" if you haven't.
+Thenatan1 I've been a lamb since 1902 & in my opinion it is definitely live. There's other live performances with differences in vocals so that's your opinion. You can hear the mic feed so believe what you want lamby.
Oprah don’t allowed lip syncing on her show at this time 90’ Mariah sing live and you can see is amaze by Mariah Carey talent. True gift as Oprah will say GIFT GIFT GIFT ! Coming from GOD thank you LORD ❤️
During the charmbraclet era her chest voice was used to its fullest form... may not have been as thick as the 90s but it was angelic and powerful...he range in her chest stretched to a B5 in this era
When she sings you notice her neck and the extra whistles in the song which she barley does sometimes so that’s very unique . This was 100% percent live and she writes all her music
Mariahs transitions are crazy. This performance is live. About 99 percent of her performances are live. I have seen her live about 5 times. She sounds better live then recorded tracks.
i was there and do believe it was 100% live. You could hear all her breathes and in person it's not as "pure" as after aired but It was definitely live all the way.
She's definitely live she was smooth throughout her performance and had stupendous breathe support. You can tell by her breathe support in her mid register she was really resonant all throughout her performance. You could hear the clarity in her voice from beginning to end this was 100% live
High mix belt is her comfort zone. She struggle at mid chest belts. And the passagjo register between her chest and head belt. Thats why her high mix belt seems so effortless
You couldn't have any pre recorded tracks on OPRAH! It was either 100% liped or 100% live no in between! Plus this was different from studio version ,u can tell in the oitch she was killing it more here !
I don’t know if it’s live or not. but, one way or another she hit the notes at one time in the studio. So she can do it if she wants too I’m sure of that.
Please do reactions to her singing "Emotions" at Arsenio Hall, "Love Takes Time" at Arsenio Hall and "Vision of Love" at SNL. These are three of her best performances.
Has anyone ever told you that you remind them of a young Bill Withers. Even your personality is similar to his. Anyway, your Mariah reaction videos are so sincere and honest. Salute for keepin' it real, sir.
Its live cause the few times ever she’s not sung live cause she was sick you can tell when she is cause she doesn’t really move she like stands still and doesn’t move her arms QUEEN UNTOUCHABLE!!!!
Im letting you know 100. She had prerecorded vocals playing..but this was a good live vocal era for her. So she is singing live louder over the prerecorded track...but like you said, it was so effortless it blends to well. When she doesn't have the pretty live face, shes live..eyes closed, singing ugly face lol.. live.
You should do a reaction video to Mariah Carey's "Yours" and "The One" live performances from the same special! "Yours" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ELAC89kMYnY.html "The One" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6YsrEP_ji8Y.html
This is one of my favorite songs from Charmbracelet which happens to be my favorite album of hers. I think the climax was partly sung but 95% of it was live no doubt. You should react to her 100% live performance of this on the BET though! You'll be totallly shooook! 🤗
Wtf are you talking about? I'm not dumb I am telling the truth! she did sing this live once actually! So what if I got the BET wrong it was the Soul Train Awards. I have the link now here it is! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KcW7y5FVypU.html
React to "the one" charmbracelet album performance for MTV. It isn't a performance people normally react to but it is proof that this climax was live because the song prior to the one she does a similarly complex climax as my saving grace with the same amount of ease. Now if someone thinks that performance was lipped then we know they are trolling.
