Exactly. It's no secret MC uses some playback from time to time. But that doesn't take away from anything she's accomplished. I love it when the so-called Lambs call out the lipped parts like they are discovering something new in the universe.
Her arrangement is the standard. However I feel she did not do playback in here. You can clearly hear the smooth transitions and even going back to the upper chest belting for seconds in between proving her voice had the "elasticity" that day. She may be tired sometimes but she has proven many times that when we'll rested she sounds just like 1990 (Ex. Mini recording of There's got to be away in 2020 at her home. Her belt sounds exactly the same)
I'm sick of ppl being so mean to her 😢...u don't think it hurts her feelings to hear u guys say she can't sing or that she struggles and so on, I mean don't u think she knows already she wasn't wat she once was vocally back in the day when she was younger? It probably bothers her some cuz she cant do anything to make the nodules go away and u all have to point out everything she does wrong...its so cruel man stop it! She's still the best vocally that's wat no one understands, she don't even struggle really the only thing it is her voice belting sometimes it don't reach its highest as before but u best believe it's still higher than any artist out there. Guys don't be so negative, be positive...if u don't like her then walk away or move on stop hating on her. Show alot of respect because she still holds the crown for best artist alive. Mariah carey vocals is so amazing , she can turn a simple word a magical and heavenly .. regardless her age still one of the best female singer in the universe and people bashing her cant do either a small things mariah does! Thats the truth and nothing but the truth period.
Whatever happened to her voice throughout the years doesn't negate the fact that she is still one of the greatest singers of all time!!! She may have severe vocal problems and she's not able to sing with such power any longer. God bless her and her beautiful voice.
@@JTScott1988 Uh, not really. I love MC to death, but she was clearly lipping some of those parts, specifically the power belts and the whistle note. I don't mind, cuz she has nothing to prove. Her voice just has wear and tear from her recording and singing so many songs for over 30 yrs. She's still the best singer ever, after Whitney.
@@JTScott1988 Nah. Whitney & Mariah have been my 2 favorite singers for over 3 decades. They're the best! In terms of being an all-around artist, I'd say Mariah is more talented; because she writes, sings, arranges, and produces so brilliantly. But vocally, as a singer, Whitney beats Mariah and everyone else by several miles. If Mariah had the charisma, confidence, stage presence, and vocal power, clarity, and diction that Whitney had THEN she'd be better than Whitney. But Whitney, from birth till the early 2000s, was unmatched vocally and charismatically. Mariah at her best still lacked the stage presence and confidence that someone of her calibur SHOULD have at that stage in her career; not to mention she lip syncs her performances so much now that we always question if she's singing live or not, whenever we see her grace a stage. Lipping is necessary on sick days but Mariah's been doing it regularly for 15yrs now because she wants to seem perfect, but all that does is make her look more flawed, like she's only a great studio artist. I love MC to death, but I can be objective. Clearly, though, not all of her lambs can be objective as well or even realistic. Sad.

Were u born in like 2002 when all the new singers that began to dominate airwaves sound bad that u thought they're good? And now u think the best (Whitney) needs to rehearse to sound good? Mariah needs to rehearse and needs a million things to be right before she'd agree to eveb hum live, let alone sing. It's amazing how people accuse her about lipping when she isn't. You gotta listen to it very closely. There's different variations then in the soundtrack version that she performs live. 2:20-2:32 is one example of proof that it wasn't lipped and isn't part of the original track they would use to lip. 2:37-2:49 is another example. And the way her singing connects from good the horse is too closely connected to sound like she just started singing. You can hear the transition, you just gotta listen closely for it. Her whistle note at the end also his some minor modulations. You gotta really listen closely to her performance and compare it to the her music video for o holy night. There are differences, you just listen for them. Anyway, if she's just gonna struggle with those notes, and it sounds like that with that struggle, why not just lip the whole song?
It ia obvious that she lips only few parts, the highest, I like her but I know and I accept when she lips...and it's obvious that singer changes the song live through the years, but she still lipping the night notes and the problem is that she is using the same record of 90s.

At first I thought she was lip sync, but there are many parts that didn’t same with the studio version. I WAS LIKE : WOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She’s so greattttttttttttt!!!! Live version is clearly better than studio version!! Love Mariah so muchh

She is singing live for sure due to her nuances and adlibs and runs from low to middle voice mix and head, her comfort zone is the highs and the whistles that sound so perfect and studiolike sound that they think it was lipsync bec they are stupid to say ever it was lipsync.
I love Mariah but some parts are definitely lipsynched. It is not hating it is just being true to ourselves and it is okay. Celine Dion does it too and I love her too.

Great job, congrats Mariah! She definitely came prepared and at her age this is an outstanding performance. This is unequivocally a live performance, no help here but for a slight autotune perhaps. Anyone stating different is wrong. I am a singer myself and can always tell right away.

For the people who got any idea of singing is pretty obvious that it is live performance. Having nodules doesn’t mean loosing voice - sometimes means hoarseness or lack of volume or some parts if the vocal register. But there are good and bad days. Anyways she slayed it! I generally think that she has the best skill set and soul. Also I think she started to work with vocal coaches - nodules could be cured with the proper vocal maintenance and regimen.Good luck my one&only! I love and I‘ll always will no matter what! ❤️
It's not all live. She's been mixing live and backing vocals from her studio recording studio since the 90s. The songs that are more demanding lipsynced on the heavy area. The low parts are live.It's not a bad thing at all. It preserves the voice. She still has pipes but image stress on vocals. I'm sure I'll get hate for this message but it isn't a hate comment. A lot of singers mix live and recorded vocals. I still love her since 1990😍
I honestly thought she was lip syncing the higher notes, but I realized it's not. Mariah struggles heavily with singing down, especially on anything that has the letter "i" in it. You always see her choppy singing in Vision of Love "prayed through the nights" verse. I see it here too, she hits that high note and when she comes down, it's choppy. I believe it's her real vocal. There's no way her sound engineers and Mariah herself have enough skill to make it sound as seamless as that in the middle of a note, thus it's fully live.
Actually they play a track that has certain high passages that are recorded and then she knows what lower spots she has to sing. You can tell she is syncing in the high portions of this song. Still a good performance though.
She is though. This is absolutely one of my favorite records from her if not my most favorite, but she is lipping the higher notes. It's clear as day. Yet, I'd still kill to see her live. She's a living legend!
I love you Mariah Carey, dont listen to all the mean comments truly not fans. I have been following her since she started, and I think she sings quite lovely and have always loved her voice, I think she carries a wide range of vocals from low/ to high, and no one knows what this woman goes through on a daily basis, we dont know her life, but we need to speak life into people and not negative Noone is perfect, and yes she is a little older now but she still can sing, Mariah atleast you still get up there and do it, I wish you nothing but the best in life, and wish you and your family a very merry and blessed Christmas, ive always been a fan always will be.God bless you!!!

we should admit that she's getting old. her age has an effect to her voice. We know that her voice trembling and a bit different from original version. But still, she's the best singer. No one ever sing like her or make a copy-version of her. Her songs always make my Christmas more joyful
Watch it in X0,5 I absolutely believe her , for the highs she is using her head voice, but very well projected, she struggles with the upper chest voice, that's all, maybe she don't train that part of her voice so much, but i do believe that she have a brilliant and perfect dominium of the high part of her voice, are comfortable for her, the same than medium lows, she don't miss a single tone. Editd: In the min 3:29 you can hear that PERFECT transition from head to chest, she is exceptional, it is so unfair if she have such a dominium and her fans are saying that it is not live.
