I was too young to realize this at the time, (I'm 22) it's really interesting to see how dismissive people were of Nick and Mariah's relationship because "old white" people didn't know who Nick Cannon was. I remember being a child when Nick Cannon was on Nickelodeon so in my mind "Oh he's on TV, he must be famous and rich" so I thought nothing of their relationship in 2008 particularly because I grew up knowing Mariah Carey as an R&B artist who was very popular with the black community. I did not know of superstar 90's Mariah up until 6-7 years ago. There are plenty of men and women in the entertainment community who work in multiple facets of the industry and make their money with different "side hustles" as they call it. It's weird to see now going on 10 years later, how entertainers who started out on BET, Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, etc have used that very important platform to jump over to the mainstream, and I'm glad this whole era of "Oh you're not on NBC, CBS, ABC or Fox" is over. I liked the Carey-Cannon marriage, Good hard working people
