With Barbie’s first real venture into a music-star endorsement cross over, the title track “Hope Has Wings” allowed fans to connect with a familiar artist and bring them into the world of Barbie®. Originally starting in 2002 with Samantha Mumba’s “Wish Upon A Star” for Barbie® as Rapunzel, Mattel slowly started bringing in outside musical acts to help curate a soundtrack with a memorable figure in music and pop culture. The (at the time) budding singer Brie Larson was no exception. Her track “Hope Has Wings” was so promising to Mattel, that it was covered and translated into 6 different languages to help promote the movie and song across the world. Mariana Ochoa covered the song in Spanish for speakers of that language.
