"If you wanna do something great, you have to swing for the fences. And if you strike out, who cares? At least you fuckin took a swing." -Josh Ramsay 2015
Same. He seems really hype about it which is great :D The way he kept moving because he is really excited made my heart beat faster & get more happy ^-^ lol
I got chills watching this! It's so nice to see Josh so passionate and excited about this. I really appreciate his honesty in telling us how hard things have been for him but now he's found something he can enjoy. I'm so excited for this album, so excited to hear what Josh has to say!
This record can't come out fast enough, honestly. Sounds great from the snippets included in this. You can just see it in their faces, and hear it in their voices, just how excited they really are. So ready for Astoria.
Basic process of any artist: doesn't do anything for months on end and then suddenly STUFF STUFF STUFF STUFF STUFF STUFF HEY LOOK AT MY STUFF DUDE I DID SOME COOL STUFF SHIT I NEED MORE SUPPLIES FOR THIS STUFF YES I LOVE STUFF also those fucking corn thing!! Nobody I know has any idea what they are meanwhile I'm hear shoving my face with them on the regular
I wanted to make them myself a while ago but I could find a recipe for them. Probably because they're called fucking corn nuts. Whenever I but them the package says toasted kernels D:
Thanks to Google, I've learned that "Corn nuts are prepared by soaking whole corn kernels in water for three days, then deep-frying them in oil until they are hard and brittle." I bet there's tons of recipes when you search for corn nut recipes now haha. I love that there is now a comment thread mostly devoted to corn nuts on a Marianas Trench video LOL
If there's one thing you guys do better than any other band, it's making the whole album sound like it's literally the score to a movie. On both Masterpiece Theatre and Ever After, you've completely nailed making the entire records as polished yet emotional as possible. So that fact you decided to play to that element even more makes me incredibly excited.
Josh you have a brilliant mind and beautiful talent. I love everything Marianas Trench has put out in the world. If I'm not feeling 100% or I'm depressed or unmotivated I put on your music and I'm almost instantly better. Thank you.
Watching Josh talk about the album, and music is just so amazing. It almost makes me cry because he's just so passionate about music and he obviously loves it so much. And the whole band does. And he is so excited talking about the music and I love it so much ♥️ he is such an inspiring and passionate person and I love it. This band means so much to me and this just made it even better ♥️
+Astoria DP it's not wildfire. Someone leaked the whole album and I listened to the whole thing but didn't hear that part in any song. It made me super confused
I will admit I am VERY new to Marianas Trench. Stumbled across One Love in my RU-vid feed, and just said OMG. And I have been watching and listening to everything I can find since then. I can't get enough, and I don't remember the last time I have been so deeply.............amazed and enthralled and emotionally overwhelmed by a band or an artist. Thank you!
I feel you! A friend told me about this band and I fell in love with their music ever since! It's been roughly a year I think since my friend introduced me to this awesome band and I am just so hooked!
Honestly, this has GOT to be the most beautiful and emotional album they will have made thus far. It empowers so many different aspects of Josh's life, and you can REALLY feel his passion and heartfelt emotions into his songs unlike the usual Marianas Trench vibe we've all known thus far. Just from seeing "Wildfire" alone, it almost felt like the warmth and sorrow that came from this song was embracing my heart in such a passionate way. Marianas Trench has done emotional songs before, but there's something different that sparks right at you with this new album, something that I don't think anyone's creativity alone can be enough to produce such beautiful flow. Josh's life definitely took a toll on his music, and this album really exposes his true inner heart that not only produces music in a unique, wonderful manner but also in such an inspirational, earnest way. No proper words could ever describe the true emotional beauty and depth of their new album (that I have yet to embrace for the next years of my life). ♥ (Yes, I overexaggerate, but honestly, I still can't find better words to describe how amazing Astoria will turn out to be.)
Josh I am proud of you ❤ You decided to take your life in your own hands and canalize the energy into something awesome! No more self-destruction, and that makes you someone incredibly strong and also a model for all of us to follow
This video alone was such a honor to watch. If this is what the album is like in it's rawest stages I can't even imagine how it will be once it's released to the world.
This album is seriously the best complete album I've head in a long time. I know that many people went into making it and that the other boys are the key players to making it so good. But what Josh did with this concept -- the lyrics, the movie score, the song arrangements -- it is absolutely brilliant. Much like the Ever After album, the beginning and ending songs are so nuanced and well constructed that you can feel the story behind it even though it's a mash of different emotions and tunes. The little reminiscent pieces of old songs woven throughout, like Porcelain's bridge in End of an Era rewritten to say goodbye, used to bring in a sad nostalgia, are some of many reasons that Josh shouldn't be renowned for a song like "Call Me Maybe" only. That man deserves numerous awards. I cannot stress enough about how genius this album is and I'm not afraid to say that I truly believe he hit the goal of making their "Thriller". This album better not get ignored cause that would be such a shame to not acknowledge this caliber of talent!
+redraven24 DUH but LIKE 2010-2011 WE'VE SEEN IT TOO like how many people can say they produced all on his own , their own Albums and it's SO GOOD too! like he produced another much better song with Carly called "Sour Candy"(which they both co-wrote too and on the first day they met and on the spot became like Siblings [Carly actually said in an interview he's like a brother to her] and yeah) in like 2009/2008 he was like 23-24 like that's pretty YOUNG for someone to do that!. Like Chad knows how insanely talented and genius he is too! like their first album Dave Genn & Marianas Trench have Producer credits so josh kinda started to play bits with the producer parts, and in Masterpiece Theatre he started to become more of his a producer, and then he got super smart and went and write , Produce, etc. for a wide range of Artists and groups and then he stepped it up and worked for in different genres of music so he could learn different tricks with writing and Producing then what he learn on that project he brings those new tricks back to the band and he see's if he can use them in his work. and ppl this is only in 10/15 YEARS ! and he's been working his ass off most of his life , he started his career at 14 but before he was learning to become that. they started forming the band in 2001 he was like 15, The band recorded and released a self-titled EP in 2002! they got picked up in like 2003! and plus Matt's 2 years younger than Josh too! and on ! like seriously these boys , Josh should a lot more then they do ! like his musical talent is in the same zone as like classic rockers ! he's done a really close cover of AC/DC for god sakes and it's REALLY close. he's god the Michael Jackson voice with like Steven Tyler's and multi more! and FUCK AFTER POP 101 FUCK YES that was a very hard song to make and he DID it ! and that's also why Chad told him personally to come and write for NICKELBACK yes they aren't the *CLEANEST* band but that's a big deal ok! and plus he got to sing in a bit in the background, plus played some guitar too! AND NB seriously wasn't disappointed at all cuz both songs Josh did were loved and was top album seller! so he's probably going to do more with them cuz NB LOVES that kid! so yes he should !
IM SO EXCITED AND HAPPY AND CRYING AT THE SAME TIME. SO FUCKING HAPPY N PROUD FOR JOSH, EXCITED FOR THIS FUCKING MASTERPIECE TO BE DONE AND CRYING BC THIS IS TOO OVERWHELMING
OMFG. YOU ARE ME IN THIS SITUATION. I COME HOME AND MARIANAS JUST DROPS THIS BOMB ON MY FACE AND IM LEFT HERE YELLING AT MY PHONE TO STOP BECAUSE IM NOT OK
Blue Starlight IM NOT PREPARED I'M LITERALLY GOING TO JUST MELT AWAY INTO A POL OF EMOTION. THEY'RE SUCH GENIUSES. JOSH SAID IT'LL BE CINIMATIC AND I JUST NOOOOOPE.
+Tori Crisologo I literally just became a fan three days ago and I can't stop listening to Ever After. It's such an amazing album, and I'm getting really into their other stuff and now I see this video - I am sooo beyond excited!!! He's so passionate and excited! :) I first heard about them because my husband is taking me to see them live in New York. :DDD
I've been listening and been a huge fan for the last five years or so. I'm so happy that new people are getting to know of them and become fans themselves. They honestly deserve a huge fan base 💙💙Marianas Trench!!!💙💙
"If you want to do something great, you have to swing for the fences. And if I strike out, who cares? At least you fucking took a swing. So I wanted to try for something, you know I'm looking at Thriller and Pet Sounds, and stuff that I feel are people's best work, and I want this to be my best work. And I would never say that I'm capable of writing a record as good as Pet Sounds or Thriller, but I can say, again, that I don't know what the fuck I'm capable of."
I had no idea they were engaged. Josh has always kept his relationship with Amanda quiet, which is totally fine, it's his decision to make, but a few years ago on Twitter someone asked Amanda about marriage and she said they were not going to get married, so I had no idea they were engaged.
God damn it guys. I've been a fan since I was probably 14 or 15 in high school. I've seen them 3 times over the years. I was also so excited they were from Vancouver too and they were this special thing for me. Marianas Trench was my first favourite band that felt like my music or my stuff as opposed to my parents, etc stuff AND EVERY TIME I THINK I'M OVER YOU GUYS YA PULL ME BACK IN
THIS GUY IS SO INSPIRATIONAL AND HIS ATTITUDE IS CONTAGIOUS AND I HOPE HIS MOM IS FEELING BETTER AND I THINK HE IS JUST THE MOST PRECIOUS LITTLE CINNAMON ROLL, I FREAKING SWEAR.
Josh is just bouncing with energy, it's crazy. His passion for music oozes from every pore of his body and it really reflects in his music. This is the main reason why I love his music so much, because it comes from such a deep place within Josh and it's raw and emotional and real. Mariana's Trench will forever be my favorite band and Josh will forever be one of the most amazing artists out there.
Marianas Trench is brilliant with their music. The pieces fit together perfect & the harmonies are amazing. For people who understand music, this is a group that understands & puts feelings into words. Tera,
I went through a period in my life, where having internet and tv were unlikely, so i lost touch with so much including most of my music (mt included), i honestly forgot about them for so long, but this last summer (September 11th 2019) i got to see these guys Perform and honestly....Josh has brought so much light to my life in the past month, than ive seen in the last 5 years of my life and it hurts that he'll never get to know how much he, as a human, means to me 😭 Excuse me while i curl up in a ball and cry my life away
I really want to see Josh and probably the rest of the band write a film score! He's so freaking good at making albums centered around a concept, and I think he's got what it takes to make one kickass movie score.
Josh has been through so much shit. He's the guy I look up to when I know I'm going through the worst of times. He still keeps going when things get at its worst to do what HE loves. Ever since the first album I've been following and supporting the whole band. I'm proud of what they've come to; and Josh still wants his songs to have MEANING; which a lot of songs lack these days. I love you Josh, Matt, Mike and Ian. You helped me keep going. Love, Rola
I've been a Marianas fan for almost a decade, I remember my first concert in a theatre that only sat 600 people, they were the openers, and such wicked guys, I'm proud to be from the same city! and to see them rise, and fall hurts me in a different way then just wanting new music, hope you guys are only gonna go up from here! happpy to see you guys happy!
Honestly, Josh is such an inspiration to me. The first time I watched this video, it really struck a chord with me. His whole saying how you've got to swing for the fences, and if you strike out, who cares. At least you took a fucking swing. It just makes me realize that I need to be more outgoing about what I love and that it's ok to mess up some times. Josh has really opened my eyes to the idea of embracing what happens in life, no matter how shitty it is. And seeing how Matt, Ian and Mike have been there for him through thick and thin, helping him produce this work, even just playing video games with him, it shows me that friends are your one true love. I love this band and I'm so glad to have them as role models
You can just SEE the passion and creativity in his eyes and hear it in his voice. He truly is incredibly. The boys are as well but josh takes it to a new level.
I love Marianas Trench for many reasons, but one specifically is that they are genuinely creative when making music. Which is fairly rare nowadays in the music industry. I love it! Cant wait for this album and every other album to come!
I usually never comment on any videos, (I'm mostly the "appreciate from a distance" type) but I wanted to say how proud I am of this band, and Josh. Seeing Josh talking about Astoria, and the passion you can see in his eyes is truly inspiring. It makes me smile to see someone who has gone through such a hard time, is coming out on top, and is doing something he loves. He inspires me. His love for making music is genuine, and that is a big reason of why I love this band so much. I have not been able to stop listening to this album since the day it came out. Or every single album for that matter! Seeing Josh, Matt, Mike, and Ian grow as artists over the decade that they've been releasing music has been amazing. They are all so inspiring, and I cannot put in words how much I appreciate them. Your music is beautiful, creative, and it has saved me so many times. So thank you, Marianas Trench. Thank you for being yourselves, and for making the greatest music. Your music has always been there for me, and I know that whenever I'm having a hard time, I know that you will always be there. Please always keep making music as long as it makes you happy. You have changed my life. And I will never be able to thank you enough for that. I'm sending you lots of love from Canada!
Throughout watching this, all I could do was just squeal about how cute he is! I love watching his energy and excitement about this. Being so passionate about music really makes a difference. A good difference ^_^
THIS IS GOING TO BE INCREDIBLE!!!! I was actually pretty skeptical of Wildfire when I heard it at the Share a Coke stage, but this little snippet of it sounds UNREAL WOW!!!! Who Do You Love and This Means War also sound incredible. Of course. Duh. I'm really sorry he had to go through such hard things to make this, but I know I'm incredibly excited.
I LOVE that he is so excited about this album that he can barely even get the words out, in spite of the sad making of story. I cannot fucking WAIT for this record. Like, dude.
HOW I BECAME OBSESSED WITH YOU GUYS in grade 1 or 2 I remember someone singing "take me with you I start to miss you" and I heard it on the radio a couple of times. All to myself was played a couple times, too. A couple years later I heard stutter, Fallout, Desperate Measures, and Pop 101, all on the radio. Last summer I decided to search up the title Cross my heart, and found you guys! Ever since then, my obsession with you has grown, and I'm seeing you guys in April! So excited!
I have been a Trench for a little over 3 years now and I have been really nervous for this new album. Josh and the guys have been there for me when life took a turn for the worst, through all the ups and downs of being alive. But when they released Pop 101 and One Love I felt this sense of fear and dread. I was scared that they were going what was popular and that they lost what truly made them great, but now that I watched this video, I am no longer scared. I know that it will be great and I know that these boys have put their blood, sweat and tears on these tracks and for the first time in a long time I feel connected to the band. I CANNOT wait for Astoria and to see all the great things that will come with it.
Ahh this is why i LOVE them so much and have listen and changed with them since the beginning. Just beautiful songs with so much meaning, catchy music and talent and it just so emotional and uplifting at the same time. Cant wait!!!!
I absolutely LOVE how passionate and excited he is for this! You can see it in his eyes and just the way he talks and it totally warms my heart. Seeing himlike this makes me even more excited for Astoria!
You are SoOo capable I have a feeling you will write the most beautifully enchanting rock and symphony record of all time I love you guys so much the whole fam Forever greatful 💖
