A wonderful performance, true to the spirit of Purcell's music and the English choral tradition. Too many singers perform this with a big Italianate tone and wide vibrato. Here, the singing is tasteful, restrained and pure. Bravo!
Excellent artistic rendition..in a true subdued lament tradition !!...English ! and not only beautiful & artistic part writing, but descending bass line & chords and this, before J.S.Bach was born.
I love her voice, I just found her singing the alto on a recording of Mozart's Requiem. She have such a fantastic and clear voice. A true beauty to listen to.
I've finally found an artist to rival my favourite rendition of this piece, Jessye Norman. Both do this masterpiece justice with their own unique and different qualities. What a beautiful voice this lady has ❤
I have to say that I've never been so moved by a performance before. Marianne Beate Kielland's interpretation of Dido's Lament was so heartfelt and poignant that it brought tears to my eyes. Her ability to convey the raw emotion of the music was truly remarkable, and I felt like I was experiencing the story of Dido's tragic end in real time. This performance will stay with me for a long time, and I'm grateful to have witnessed such a powerful and moving rendition.

I've listened & watched this video countless times & I never tire of it. Every now & then there is a performance that is so perfect nothing can rival it. This is definitely one of those times absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Such a beautiful voice.
My wife sees pictures and colors when she hears music. I think she called it Synesthesia, an Autistic spectrum condition. And, this piece is incredibly beautiful.
I love this Lament it helps me with the death of my Father after a decline that he would have hated. This one is the one I most frequently return to and gives me the most pleasure, even compared to the greats, such as Janet Baker Emma Kirby et al.

Amazingly perfect since the first note! Comparing to the others sopranos and mezzo sopranos (too much vibrato or low tone) Marianne's technique is the most achieved. The cello is brillant as well. Very good job Marianne, congratulations!
