I first read this book by ML von Franz to better understand the idea of transference but it requires, I think, several close readings to appreciate what this wonderful woman is saying and to appreciate the immense role that projection and recollection can play in our experience, and what profoundly complex, multidimensional beings we really are.
I became aware of how projections function because I believed my Analyst thought similarly to me, and had a similar world view. heh It took me forever to acknowledge the purpose of the role of the Transference. I was able to dissolve the Transference, yet it took time; to be truthful, it took an emotional breakdown to begin to sever the projection I put on this man. I then terminated when I decided that we, as individuals must unravel our own complexes. I eventually, one day, felt the emotional breakdown fall away from my psyche? my presence? I truly began to know how it felt to live and work under a break down. No, I did not seek professional help after my "termination." However, I did not bury my head in the sand...I just dug deeper.
I was ashamed to find out 46 friends, co-workers, family members I asked if they knew who she and 4 other Important individuals were 0 of 46 knew. My original target was 100 minimum 80. I just had to stop.
