You could hear she was having trouble catching her breath. Her partner was even standing there with his arms around her during part of it embracing her, like he had some idea she was having trouble. But I cant believe so many people laughed, that is so mean. What if it was something really serious? Thank goodness she was okay! That song was annoying by the way! But Marie was gorgeous as always!
i think people were laughing because they thought it's some kind of act and she's joking. they stopped immediately once realized it's for real and something's seriously wrong
+xfile054 i actually liked the song but yeah ppl did think it was an act im pretty sure. it reminded me of when that guy died on stage during a comedy routine. he suffered a heart attack but ppl thought he was joking around so they were laughing while he laid down on stage and was having a heart attack.
People were laughing when she fell because they thought it was a joke. She was laughing and jumping around before and suddenly collapsed. They realized it wasn't a joke very quickly and it was silent. As for the judges. Len was in mid - sentence when she collapsed and they very quickly cut to commercial. You can see Carrie Ann hurriedly getting up to help before the TV goes off. So, they did help and we're concerned.
Keyla Bella I remember watching this when it happened & the commercial break was really long. Considering DwtS is a live show, it was a serious situation and NOT fake.
She was already out of breath after dancing like that where she was twirling & spinning her head around then got way too excited jumping up and down which probably gave her a rush to her head.

It seemed to me that she was jumping because she sensed that she was going to faint. She was probably trying to keep her circulation going. Coming to an abrupt stop after that much physical activity can cause fainters to faint. It's best to taper down until your heart rate slows.
I had heard about this but thought she collapsed during the dance routine. This was a strenuous and difficult dance, and I can understand the collapse. Nothing to make fun of. Wish I could dance like this couple.

What could they have done? She had the other 2 around her and surely the paramedics would have come. If they crowded around her too then it would have only made it harder for her to breathe and she would have felt more suffocated.
Dan Ameral He did catch her. He lowered her down to the ground slowly so she could be treated. Unless the judges were trained to assist staying out of the way was the best thing they could do. They have medics on hand to handle medical emergencies
***** Why don't you re watch the video? She was on the ground before the dance instructor moved. In what way is that catching her? And your medical advice is to do nothing when someone faints if you don't know what to do? Clearly you've never seen anyone faint in RL before. What they should've done was what Tom and the dance instructor (who are both untrained non medical professionals) did after she fainted, which is stay by her until help arrives. That way if she regains consciousness and asks for an essential such as water, someone will be able to get it for her. They definitely shouldn't just sit there. At least Carrie Ann seemed concerned. Can't say the same about the other judges.
I think she was jumping around at the end to shake off the feeling that caused her to faint. Being in front of a live audience must have been nervous for her. She definitely knew that there was something going wrong with her body. Just before you faint, there is an immediate tunnel vision that you cannot control. There was a lack of blood or oxygen to her brain. Glad she came out of it ok.
Gary #07 yes, I watched it, I just think it's sad that the 1st thing people tend to do whenever someone falls is laugh....(it's what we're taught to do---look at all the "America's funniest video" shows...: ) and if they realized she didn't faint, it would still be mean spirited to laugh. I remember my dad and I coming back to the apartment we were temporarily staying in and my mom telling us what happened immediately. This was so huge and re-watching it for the first time now it's creepy how silent everything went.

I remember the night this happened. When they cut to commercials, that seemed to be the longest 2 - 3 minutes in history to me. I was so freaking worried about Marie. So glad she was ok, I'm such a big fan of the whole Osmond family.
Dang she fell so hard, she just dropped. How could anyone think that was fake?! I saw her eyes flutter and then boom! I’m surprised she wasn’t seriously hurt. Poor Marie.

Poor thing. She evidently has a condition which causes her to faint. When you consider that it's amazing she chose to do this dance thing. She has lovely vibes and is a gorgeous woman. I wish her the best.
She said later on that she has bad allergies and when she exerts (like dancing) and starts breathing hard, she gets light headed sometimes to the point of fainting.

Why wasn’t a attending medic there to rush out and help her and also an ambulance called immediately! We treat our celebrities so rough sometimes. I know several have been seriously injured on sets.
Saw her and Donny perform tonight in NJ. I still remember coming home and Mom saying that she had fainted. Can't even imagine how terrifying that was both being there and watching from home.
Len actually looks concerned. And the crowd thought it was a joke... but it wasn't. The laughter quickly died. I'm so glad that she was okay afterwards.
Recently heard her in an interview say what was she thinking to even do this because she was 50 lbs overweight and no wonder she could not do this hard as she tried. Bless her it was good she was ok. Hey sweetheart better than I could have done!!

im sure that dance routine was the most physical thing she has ever done, when was the last time she did any type of labor per say....all she did for the last 40 yrs is stand up and sing....and boom flat on her ass,
for everyone saying WTF to the audience laughing, its because she kept smiling and they thought she was joking...they didn't realize she wasn't...notice how the haha lasted for like a second before everyone said OH!

she was just exhausted. She has a Vegas show that she was doing ontop of all her other millions of projects and then all the practicing and performing on DWTS....of course she fainted my god she's only human!
This is the only upload of Marie's "fainting" spell where the comment section shows any sympathy towards her.......She is obviously out of breath when the dance finishes, however, she acts silly and starts jumping up and down. Over the years I have known patients to deliberately initiate a faint by doing this alone! I would have said it was a genuine temporary loss of consciousness brought on from hyperventilation, apart from the fact that, I have never, ever, known someone laid out in a faint rearrange their leg position, not once but twice!!
Marie had just finished a rather strenuous dance, then she jumped up and down, her dress was probably a bit tight in the torso, she was hyperventilating a bit, and she just couldn't get enough oxygen to the brain, so she fainted, the body's way of stopping you to slow down activity so your breathing and brain can catch up! (Many times, at least today, they have medical personnel (emergency responders) standing by in case an injury or something like this occurs. But apparently no ERs were there then.)
I wonder what Brazilians have to say about the way they dance Samba. The footsteps that are done by the Brazilians women are not even seen of this performance.

You can hear her trying to catch her breath as they start to judge and if she was performing on an empty stomach, the combination of lack of oxygen and possibly low iron or blood sugar could cause a collapse like that easily. She seemed to be not only forcing a huge smile, but her "jumping around" with whatever she said made me feel that something was wrong because that just didn't seem like the Marie I've watched perform for decades. I hope it wasn't serious.

Our society is soooo politically correct now that people don't even respond how they should.... we just look at people who have just passed out now instead of helping !!!!
