I love this show so much! These videos make you wish you were there going for a hike and enjoying the company of friends. Thanks once again for picking up my day.
When I was 18 I worked in a restaurant in La Canada, and once Mariel came in with her parents and a couple managers. She was probably 16 or 17. She was getting salad from the salad bar I had made and I said hi to her. She was so pretty I could barely talk. One of my great regrets is not being brave enough to give her my address and offer to be pen pals.
Mariel has a beautiful wholesome honesty that we all got to see because of the gentle vibe you bring to every step, Kevin. Also, do you think the flow of honesty in all your videos happens because you two do not need eye contact, and instead have your field of view filled with the raw honest nature of sky and earth and mountains beckoning the truth from your lips? Speaking of Lipstick!
I freakin' love this series! The conversations are always so insightful and I love how Kevin throws in some kind of non sequitir to throw off the guest.
Kevin , I have viewed your hikes all week and want to thank you for the experience...very entertaining..also..I am inspired to hike again on a regular basis here in Oregon...like I have most of my life in Arizona and New Mexico..I would hike with you in a heart beat......
A very happy Subscriber here Kevin. Never knew what a great interviewer you were, much better than a lot of the current late night television hosts (miss ya Craig Ferguson)
Super impressed with her. Her candid take on things; her open and genuine laugh - which is loud, but not forced, as she's quite apparently just that at ease with herself; and her still so deeply contemplative and introspective insights say so much about what she would and could give to performances; it's so refreshing to see a star reborn. Guess what Hollywood,... it looks like it's time to take a VERY SERIOUS look back at Mariel, and betcha the payoff is going to be F'ing HUGE !!!! For ALL of us!!! Swear to God, I don't know her from eve, but damn, where's she been hiding, and is she interested in getting back on screen? Hope so...
You're not alone and that you can access a network of peers who have been through the same thing is a great thing to say to someone who is going through a very dark time. Thanks Mariel!
She is such a cool, sweet woman. I'm grateful for all the things she is doing for those with mental illness. Bless her heart. I really needed to see this today. Thank for making these videos, Mr. Nealon! I've watched the Conan and Goldblum hikes several times actually. They make me laugh and calm me down. You are the best.
Kevin’s huffing and puffing while quietly listening. By contrast, Mariel’s barely winded while doing most of the talking. Obsession or not, her dedication to health and fitness is clearly paying off (knock on wood).
I'm so sorry. It is an illness.. it's nothing you did or didn't do or could have done... there's times since I was 4 years old, I've been so happy, everything is perfect, but I still want to die. He was either born with it or something traumatic happened that damaged his thoughts, but he did Love you. I feel that life is infinite, just mysterious to our perception, and you will see him again! 💕
So sorry for your loss. It's good that this is temporary and the spirit lives on. Death is an illusion, but it hurts when the person is not there in body.
Thank You for having her on your hike! She's AWESOME! I LOVE Mariel and the movie Lipstick! She is fantastic in it. She looks great! She sounds like a joy to talk to. I'd love to see her on another TV show or movie.
Mariel is still very pretty, easy going personality and focused on speaking about mental health. Not surprised that she lives in a really cool, Malibu beach house. Thank you Kevin.
Natural beauty at every life stage, or what?I love how she's celebrity "Royalty", but remained so authentic and real. And that dog of hers with the drone is adorable!
I was a student and was going to Morro Bay High School when Mariel was filming Personal Best on the central coast of California in 1981. The Kevmeister, takin' it to the next level and shit...doing your own drone flying !!! Peaced.
At 5:44 she starts talking about Mental Health Issues... ~ This hike has some good stuff involving depression and suicide - (Sounds odd to say that, but it is TRUE!?) ;-) :-)
Just watched STAR 80 the other day and was so surprised how much I enjoyed the movie but was unsurprisingly impressed by Mariel's stellar performance, and of course Manhattan she knocked it out of the park. Fun to see what's up and what's new, much thanks and much love. Have a great weekend everyone. And don't forget to be the change you want to see in the world!
WOW! What an incredible treat to see this, thanks, Kevin. She has certainly lived a life many of us will never know and it's great to see her dealing so well with all of that and being happy! :)
Thanks for having Mariel share her insights about depression. I loved her candor and sense of humor. I will see you in Portland on May 9th. I hope you take a hike in the Columbia Gorge. I recommend the Lateral Falls trail, it is short but gets you into the quiet moss treed forest and you have good views of the Columbia River at the half way point.
Mariel is just gorgeous. Intelligent and a nice conversationalist. I need to light some candles! The things you learn on Kevin Nealon's YT Channel! Great HIKE!
The last thing I ever thought about Mariel was her ancestry. I know her from her performances in great films and as an activist and therapist for mental health. And I think she's the 1st guest to bring her dogs, which says a lot about her. Children of addicts and alcoholics often suffer with severe control issues. It's tragic. Great interview, Kevin. Thanx!
I think that she is a special human being to have learned and made better choices for her life. I saw the beach house, while in California where they shot parts of Creator with Peter O'Toole and I was blown away when I realized that it was the one from the movie. I only say that because I'm an East Coaster and it was just by chance, that I was there.
So I first saw Mariel Hemingway in the Tales from the Crypt episode. I didn't know who she was back then, but she instantly reminded me of the lady who acted as the wife of the protagonist in the 1989 Pet Sematary movie. I couldn't remember the name of this person, but I knew I had some research back in the day and found out that she was the descendant of somebody that is very famous. So when I looked up Mariel Hemingway, I was convinced. "Oh okay...it's definitely her." I said. Tall, blonde, very beautiful, and her grandfather is Ernest Hemingway. And Lo and behold I was thinking of Denise Crosby...tall, blonde, very beautiful, and the granddaughter of Bing Crosby.
