Mariinsky Sleeping Beauty Over Time Act 1 Entrance & Rose Adage Sizova Vishneva Somova Novikova etc. 

Alla Sizova and Gabriella Komleva were in the same generation in the company. They were impeccable Auroras of their generation. Irina Kolpakova made her debut a few years before Sizova and Komleva graduated from the Vaganova Academy in the late 50s. Kolpakova coached Larissa Lezhnina for her debut with Farouk Ruzimatov as her Prince in 1989. Lezhnina was unsurpassed as the Aurora of her generation in the company during her tenure there from 1987 - 1994. Eight years after Lezhina went to Dutch National Ballet, the Vaganova Academy's Class of 2002 produced the graduates Evgenia Obraztsova and Olesya Novikova. Both of them to this day remain equally magnificent Auroras. They are both excellent and their interpretations are exemplary, although their approach to the role is markedly different. Their technique is clear, polished, and pure, and they both draw you into the story as they are both outstanding dance actresses. Evgenia's Aurora was prepared by Ninel Kurgapkina, and Olesya's first coach was Olga Moiseyeva, who also guided Galina Mezentseva, Atlynai Asylmuratova, Yulia Makhalina and Svetlana Zakharova before she joined the Bolshoi. Kurgapkina took Obraztsova and Moiseyeva took Novikova, two diamonds, and they shaped and cut them both to brilliance. They both make the role of Aurora their own. Best of all, they, (unlike the majority of their colleagues at home), both feature and revel in the balances in the Rose Adage. It's a tragedy that neither Olesya or Evgenia, who are now primas at the Mariinsky and Bolshoi respectively, were ever filmed in a live full length dvd performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" with the Mariinsky brand.

I do feel we lost something in later years, though I can’t put my finger on quite what. Some of the joy, perhaps. All are sublime, of course. A wonderful tribute to Russian ballet.

My top 3: 1- KOMLEVA- Her blooming entrance is MAGICAL. 2- VISHNEVA- She lives the role. Saw her live @Metropolitan Opera House. 3- NOVIKOVA- The music is in her entire body. The Vaganova way, and not afraid to balance. Honorable mention: La ZAKHAROVA. Saw her opening night Sleeping Beauty with the Kirov in the 90s at the Metropolitan Opera House and all the other performances. The ovation at the end is still ringing in my ears. She was at Aurora Age, and she glowed.

I appreciate how Galina Mezentseva lifts her arm to third position (Mariinsky and Bolshoi ballets, I think 5th position elsewhere ) and doesn’t look panicked like some more recent ballerinas. In my opinion, Irina Kolpakova IS Aurora. She could convey the youth and joy of the young girl even in her later years… I LOVE that Lopatkina made an appearance - she has the same ability of becoming the character like Irina. I appreciate Mezentseva as well, along with Lezhnina, Obraztsova and Novikova. Thank you for another beautiful video. Irina coached me in several roles in Sleeping Beauty so I know I’m biased. Somova with utmost respect is still too focused on technique and flinging her legs around to impart the soul of any character.

Impressionanti le parti brillanti degli anni '60, per certi versi secondo me più appropriate di adesso, e poi la Lopatkina, che non solo è meravigliosa tecnicamente ed espressivamente, ma non lascia nulla alla stilizzazione ed è eccezionalmente originale e intensa in ogni sfumatura. Sono tutti spezzoni fantastici, ma essere così professionali ed emozionanti dopo miliardi di ripetizioni della stessa variazione è da veri artisti.

А Алла Сизова меж тем лучшая в этой партии. Никому больше не удалось так наполнить ее смыслом и эмоциями за счет мелких движений, порой даже просто наклона головы. Второе место занимают Образцова и Новикова

I do know I remember Diana Vishneva, she was stunning and Alina Somnova ( apologies if the names are incorrect) was just gorgeous. All beautiful but I’d go with Diana Vishneva. Sizova and Vishneva! Both are beautiful dancers technically, artistically, expressively. Lopatkina is also very special, and I enjoy Tereshkina in everything. Only Somova leaves me completely cold.

All breathtaking,, but Galina seems to belong to another world 😮

Из полных записей этого балета мне нравится версия 1989 г. с Юлией Лежниной и Фарухом Рузиматовым. Фильм 1964 г. при всем мастерстве танцоров все-таки уже архаичен, я из него пересматриваю только сцены с Дудинской (фея Карабос), она вне времени. Запись 1989 ближе к современной эстетике, и к тому же адекватна с точки зрения операторской: без этой нынешней моды на мельтешение, торопливую и суетливую смену планов. Лежнина очень грациозна, а для Спящей, где в отличие от ЛО нет открытого драматизма, это главное.

I’d like to see Cynthia Gregory. Her Aurora was phenomenal.

Запись с Вишневой - это, конечно, 90е, не 80е.

На сцене в этом балете видела только Аллу Сизову с Юрием Соловьевым ,это был потрясающей красоты спектакль. Алла Сизова была красива и внешне, необычайно изящна ,музыкальна ,легка . Совершенно уникальна была Ирина Колпакова. Посмотрела всё видео очень внимательно, все балерины хороши ,но у каждой Аврора совершенно другая ,так и должно быть. Не согласна, что у Сомовой не очень получился образ ,категорически не согласна, посмотрите полную запись спектакля с Владимиром Шкляровым и Сомовой ,она превосходная балерина и красивая девушка. Олеся Новикова выше всяких похвал , уже столько о ней писала ,она особенная ,всё сделано с большим вкусом всегда ,всё настолько нежно, тонко ,гармонично. Спасибо большое автору ролика ,очень интересно. 18:12

А что Колпакову в список не включили? Вот кто была одной из лучших Аврор, если едва не самой лучшей.
