That statue doesn't sit right with me. Why did they have to make a statue of her with her dress flying up. Why not a statue of something more Marilyn like her reading a nice book or something
@@cvspharmacy8048 ik just because it’s iconic doesn’t mean we should make a statue of this precious beautiful women with her dress up it just doesn’t seem right. And there’s plenty other iconic photos they could have done
@@Katiebug1324it was the paparazzi,,,and her chauffeur didn’t have any reason to be running like that. Just foolish on his part as well. Ppl love to make up lies and not know. Are you pretty sure of you know????smh
@@EtnaIsEternal And it's all thanks to Ripley for letting that happen. Can't blame Kim for asking cause if they declined her she would've found something else to go for.
it sucks that that is how she is remembered. she was such an amazing person that deserved the world and more, and that's how we remember her? there are so many amazing poses, she could have been sitting with a book on a bench but no this pose is what it is. she was more than that.
Not to be that type of person, and other people agree with me. But, if you are bothered by it because clearly you are. YOU are the one sexualizing the pose. It’s nothing bad plus it’s just a pose and no matter what pose they chose we would still be honoring/remembering her for the same thing. No offense but deal with it pls. Complaining about it on the internet is not the best thing to do. Even if it was her “sitting on a bench with a book”, we would still be remembering her FOR a pose. Complaining about these things are nonsense.
Not to mention it is a VERY iconic pose to the community as you can see in the comments. Saying otherwise, yes is an opinion, but the fact you’re complaining is upsetting. PS: Instead of being bothered or sexualizing the pose whatever the story is behind this comment, just respect we are even honoring her. The people who invented the statues of her should not be ashamed because they are doing the right thing by remembering her.
@@fwmqri Im not sexualizing the pose, even marilyn said that she was uncomfortable filming the scene. even if we are remembering her 'for a pose' at least it would be a pose with her doing something she liked
@@valentine1770 It’s literally the one of the last scenes she did before her death. She also wore 2 pairs of white underwear so nobody would glance. She was being careful and was prepared for the scene. If she felt uncomfortable she wouldn’t of did the scene MULTIPLE times.
почему люди не могли сделать статуи, которые больше бы походили на столь красивую, элегантную личность.. эти статуи оскверняют память такого прекрасного человека..
@kevinvela-alonso8700 true but she could/should of lived much longer than she did 😢 other people who grew up in the same time as her like died in the 2000s while she passed in the 60s :(
Marilyn say she was quite uncomfortable filming this scene, I can definitely tell why- why not make a statue of her doing something she actually enjoyed, like reading Edit; Just bc it’s iconic doesn’t mean it’s okay
Yeah...lowkey a statue of her reading would've been amazing...but if they really had to make a statue there was one pic in which her skirt wasn't blowing up....and covered everything....
@@mocha7707 it does. The real her isn’t Marilyn Monroe. It’s Norma Jean. If you want to honor something about Norma’s real life outside of the glam, then go for it. But that’s not Marilyn Monroe. Norma said it herself, Marilyn is a different, glamorous person to her that she gets to step in and out of. And I don’t recall Marilyn being famous for reading.
In these statues it should be her READING A BOOK OR SOMETHING. She was smart, yk? She wasn't just beautiful, she was an icon. SHE inspired so many women around the world. Including me.
I feel weird about this statue marlyn manroe wanted to be valued for who she really was and not the unrealistic character that everyone saw her as while being exploited
@@mistyfayCC yea I know but marlyin Monroe was like her acting side she wasn’t truely that person Norma Jean really loved to read and was very smart and all she wanted was someone to truely love her marlyin Monroe on the other hand she was sexualized constantly and people just wanted her to be a dumb blonde
@@Dorothi1267 because after she did those poses on that vent, he said that she embarrassed him . The picture went on to being the most famous photo in history of celebrities. In reality he was jealous of her fame and beauty, he wanted to control her . I feel so bad for her .
they should tear it down. so disrespectful to her😢 She especially commented on how this publicity stunt, was very uncomfortable for her bc of the crowd that gathered to see it, as well as other reasons. Also her husband at the time, Joe Dimaggio hated this so much, he ended up abusing her…. theres nothing worth memorializing about this exact moment. She has many other beautiful moments/looks/poses they couldve memorialized. A shame this one was chosen😔
This is disgusting why couldn’t they make her statue reading a book or something pretty, but of course they have to take pictures of her skirt flying up… this is so sad can’t they protect her 😔
It's her iconic pose. It's the people, not the statue. People should take their minds out of the gutter. It's an innocent statue if people choose it to be.
@@Ein333 It's not about our minds being in the gutter. It's about respecting her person god damnit. Would you like a statue erected in honour of a scene you were embarrassed of?
I love this! But I wish she was in a different pose and a pose she was comfortable in! And it’s kinda weird people take pictures under her like in the dress when it’s up(like the pose she’s in) but the statue is really good!😃🙃
@@missa2934 Well it was a different time back then, and her husband hated that scene, she even got beaten up because of it. It's one of the things that led to her divorce. The dude's already pretty abusive in today's standards, and the scene didn't help their relationship at all. She didn't deserve the abuse and the dude's an asshole, but that scene led to a lot of emotional turmoil for her. She was also very uncomfortable filming that scene.
@@missa2934 She did, as well as a lot of other actresses around during and before her time, it wasn't uncommon for studios to abuse and maltreat young actresses. Her favorite actress Jean Harlow died young too, because she was already in poor health and was severely overworked, so she succumbed immediate to renal failure.
I feel like this pose would’ve worked great for a life-sized statue you walk past, but for a giant statue it’s pretty much just her flashing everyone on the street lmao.
Because they used an actual camera, phones are def gonna be lower quality, I get why you said so though, 1955 they most likely had lower quality equipments compared to now, but still back then they still used equipment worth thousands of dollars, so it makes sense.
I feel terrible with what people have done with her memory, maybe she wanted this, maybe she didn't. We don't know. She was SO much more than this, she was so smart.
(Actual lyrics ) "You go down just like Mariana(s) (river or ocean) Mariana, Mariana, Mariana of hearts Your beauty Never Ever dared me Mariana, Mariana(s) of hearts. Et cetera.
the fact that even herself said that it was uncomfortable to film this scene and people still do this, people just have to exploit her even after her death years ago
My great grandmother that is 91 years old she said that her opinion was she was perfect beautiful and the best when she died my grandmother was very sad
For context, the shooting of this scene was particularly traumatic for Marilyn. Apparently, her husband - DiMaggio was so mad at her, people in the neighbouring rooms could hear her screaming and crying out in pain all throughout the night. The next morning, she showed up with nasty bruises all over her arms 😞
For people who are saying that this is her iconic pose that's why they made it but no one would like to be known like this after their death and if it's not sexualizing what do we call it? childish? good? cute? Honoring?
@@honey_luv99 That scene, from "The Seven Year Itch" (& the still photos from it) is among the most iconic of her entire career. It was considered one of the most memorable scenes because of the way the air from the subway grate blew her skirt up..very racy for the time & had everyone talking about her legs. A huge billboard of it was at the premiere of the movie, towering over the theater, & over the years millions of posters have been made of it. For many people around the world & several generations, if you mention Marilyn this is the image that comes to mind. That's why I mentioned the statue's legs. They don't really look like hers & I think a sculpture or painting of such a famous image could've been more accurate although the statue is still impressive. That was my point. If her face had been off I would've commented on that. Don't know if you know the story but that scene is also famous for causing marital strife for Marilyn. A huge crowd was watching as several takes were filmed. Her husband, Joe DiMaggio, was there & got more & more upset each time the wind/skirt effect was repeated. He was furious that it showed her underwear & didn't like the crowd's reaction each time. Marilyn later told friends that when they went home that night they argued over it & Joe hit her. The marriage went downhill from there. That scene & the stills from it are among the most memorable of her career for several reasons. Fans loved it but it turned out to be a bad moment for her & is recounted & discussed in all the biographies of her life. For most people those 2 or 3 shots from that scene simply showcase her overall beauty, sex appeal & glamour. As for my comment, it wasn't a concern as much as an observation.
i still love it even tho i was not born yet i still love it i dont care what you say about me or her Even if its mean i will not care i will still love it😢
She was amazing but she died and they use the statue to honor her cause of her legacy and it’s just not because she was in a movie it’s because she was well know as a movie and a star and when she died they honored her for a statue so thats the reason Marilyn Monroe is honored it’s because of her beauty and talent and because of that pose people often use it
At my school we do like a “wax museum” project in a certain grade and towards the end of the year we dress up as the person we chose(the whole project goes on all year) (had to be like someone who changed history like not Kim k) and she wasn’t on the list and I asked to be Marilyn Monroe, AND I GOT HERRR😭🫶🏼
Guys, as a Marilyn Monroe hardcore fan, this was her iconic pose. Everyone mainly knew her for this pose, and yes, it’s not the best, but it’s one of her iconic poses.
Okay. Imagine yourself as a famous and great actress with millions of fans. But when you die people decide to make a statue of yourself for people around the world to remember you for hundreds of years in this pose when you have thousands of iconic and beautiful poses. Would you feel good about it?
Yeah I agree because she wore two pairs of white underwear/shorts so no one would see anything. Clearly she was being careful and it’s just her iconic Pose and people are sexualizing it
2011 when I just came to United state Chicago Illinois her statue was in Michigan street I took pic with her . Iconic pic of Marilyn with this dress she was and still the most beautiful woman in the world
Everyone is talking about the pose but nobody is talking about the fact that we can't let her go and rest in peace like that's not even her real name if u really want to go and honor her legacy then honor the human behind the glitzy persona
This statue doesn't represent her but her role/character, but i think that people should still appreciate it. This is one of her most iconic moment of her carrier. If we talked about Marylin this pose and this smile always came first in my mind, she was beautiful in this scene and those pictures.
