I think her makeup was very timeless and modern already. Her makeup style stayed pretty consistent the only difference being that in the 50s her brows and lips were very bold and in the 60s she has a softer look , with the exception of some editorial pictures

The thing with Marilyn Monroe's makeup look is that it's SO CUSTOMIZED to her face and to convey the sexy look for the time, that it will possibly look very off on anyone else. I knew you would finish this video kinda uncomfortable with the way it would look on you, cause your facial structure is completely different. That being said, I really loved your take on the Marilyn look, and as much as you didn't love it, you kinda rocked it, specially with the lighter lip

You are 100% right. It often looks very "costumey" on most other people but the thing about Marilyn was that her whole beauty philosophy was to appear natural. Not natural as in no makeup but the way she carried herself and pulled off all that makeup on her face was interesting. While artificial looking, it never seemed to over power her beauty, if you know what I mean. Most of us cannot pull it off.

I absolutely LOVE this on you - maybe the reason you don't like it is cos it makes you look more innocent and gives the illusion of making you look younger? (I've seen Korean/Japanese make up tutorials where they highlight their eyebags and swoop the liner down a bit = innocent and younger). Whereas your everyday make up is more like Timeless Baddie and more defined? Idk I'm sure you've gathered from your last video where you were wearing this look that EVERYONE loves this on you. I think the stark white works for Marylin because she was so fair herself. I absolutely love your eye look and am going to try it maybe with maybe MAC vanilla shadow and pigment to see if I can get it to suit my skin tone better. Beautiful work as always ❤

Admittedly, I use vaseline on my face. It works wonders for my seb-derm prone skin. When I use it, I use my prescription seb derm shampoo (on my face, yes), then my gentle cleanser, then use cerve moisturizing cream, then top it off with vaseline before bed. The vaseline helps keep the moisturizer there and helps heal my oily, dry, damaged skin. I get a lot of compliments on how clear my skin is. My skin has never been so healthy. I don't use it daily, but i need that vasaline to trap the moisture in my skin when my skin is starting to get too damaged. The difference between before I use vaseline and after is amazing. Isn't it interesting how a product that makes someone cringe could be a savior to someone else? It's no wonder it takes people so long to find the right skin care routine for themselves. What works for one person won't necessarily work for others.

The thing about Monroe's eyes is that she had hooded eyes. Not severe; but if you look at her natural photos and when she's smiling or looking straight ahead, she doesn't have nearly as much lid space as you do. This is a great look for people with hooded eyes.

I actually disagree, I really like this eye look on you! It's kind of in between a doe eye and a siren eye, it's oddly demure. Might not be the most wearable by modern standards (or irl since she probably painted more so for stage/film) but I think it really captures Marilyn's essence without feeling too cartoonish lol

I think what the issue is, is that you don't conceal your lower lids (under eyes) because usually you have more shadow there, so here its a little red and I think it's throwing you off, but this actually turned out really well and looks super cool on you

Dude. I am so late but once again you have given me exactly what I need. Speaking of moisturizers under makeup, I applied the CeraVe Healing Ointment as a moistuzer last night (which is basically half petroleum jelly) and my makeup looked incredible over top of it. Haven't tried straight up Vaseline, but I'm sure it would look bomb in photos/on camera.

@@AlexandraAnele actually Marilyn Monroe put vaseline under her makeup, that's the "dewiness" you see on her cheekbones. Petroleum jelly has huge particles and cannot travel into the pores, it's highly unlikely that it clogs them just for a makeup look bc it basically sits on top of the skin, like sunblock. I have the same skin type as you and my pores don't get congested with vaseline... oooh but jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil 😰 you bet my pores get congested af! According to a biography, Marilyn would wash her face multiple times a day to avoid blemishes 😮 her skin prob got super dry bc of this.
