Honestly so true. The closest anyone comes is Queenie's character from Harry Potter's Fantastic Beasts series. And even then, the actress is nothing like her.
marush yeah I know all that.. I meant everything about her.. her personality too. Not the fake persona..she created that dumb blonde character. There’s just something about her that I don’t see in other people. Personal opinion.
marush I’ve seen all of these pictures. I’ve been a fan since I was 14. I’ve seen the pictures before her surgeries too. I’m only comparing her to modern actresses today. Not every woman on the planet. Again it’s my personal opinion.
Marilyn was so terrified to make this appearance. It was live on television, so there could be no re-takes. She always strove for perfection and was afraid to make any mistakes. She was just so lovely in this appearance and at this time of her life.
@@Missditabomb In the video jack said she’s 25 at 3:35 and I don’t know why if she was 27, do you know why? That’s why I was wondering if she lied about her age 🥺
The truth of Marilyn's sharp and inquisitive intellect is become more widely recognized, but even in a clip like this, you can hardly miss it. Dumb people do not have comedic timing like Marilyn. She dazzles in all ways.
Exactly, Reginald. You have to be very smart to be able to do a parody of yourself, and yet it’s still her unique sexually-charged charm - and the comedic timing with her priceless facial expressions, yes, it takes real intellect and savvy! I love that Marilyn - one the one hand, we know out of any man’s reach - always allowed us to think she’d like us! I love when she pulls Benny in by both lapels- like she’s in charge! It’s like- okay, Jack, you just got more woman then you bargained for! lol
She was so classy, beautiful, smart, one of her own kind, there is no one could even come close to her. Someone you can die for. She was perfect in many ways. She is a miracle and timeless.
She is just so heartbreaking sweet and endearing in this. I bet if you were a man and Marilyn Monroe looked at you with those big blue eyes it would make your knees weak. How could a woman be so beautiful?
She's probably the only woman ever that could make men literally faint. She had a power in that beauty that could not only bring world peace but destroy the world as well. Unearthly beautiful she was.
@@annebrookes5779 I'm 51 and just getting to know of MM , who are these other women you speak of? I think in this era there aren't many, I've seen pics of today's starlets w/o make-up and while still pretty they just didn't have that "GOTCHA"!!!! about their appearance.
@@johnpetty3574 True! There are videos on youtube that show Marilyn with no make up - she was exquisite. Without makeup she also had an innocent, playful, girl-next-door look. Breaks my heart that she suffered so much in life.
I love watching the characters played by Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn is so unique and original at the same time. Marilyn will always be in my heart. God bless her beautiful and sensitive soul.
She was a genius. She knew her craft . 10 years of study and work .Then you are like a genius .Captivating .The greatest actor ,entertainer ... of all time .Stunning .
Lovely piece of fun. Marilyn stayed in character the whole time, sang live and was unbelievably beautiful. The dress she wore is the dress she wore to the premiere of How To Marry A Millionaire
✔That look on Bennys face is priceless. I've watched All his movies, tv shows , guest appearances, tv specials. I never saw a look like that on his face when M.M. was singing to him. LOL He was in heaven. 💞💕😁 She was amazing.
She played the character of MM so well that people believed it was her. She was a fantastic comedic actress, just starting her dramatic career when she did the Misfits (1961). And then she died and never got to live out her full potential.
To me Marilyn was never more beautiful than in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and I'm do glad she did this live show just right after it! She was at her peak here! Do you guys think she sang "Bye, Bye Baby" live here?! She's sounded amazing!
So talented, a great comedic actress, beautiful, charming and glamorous, with a sweet singing voice. She was a supernova, i wish she had more truly supportive people in her life, not the bunch of jealous energy vampires and users she seems to have found often in her path, she was perfection and deserved better
Marilyn's essence transcends eras and time, like a great beauty who launched a thousand ships, the images of her are plentiful and eternally gorgeous x
There was no re-take in this live show and I won't be surprise she did not have acting coach next to her signaling their approval or disapproval, yet she looked more natural and just as funny here than she did in some of her movies.
Thank you for posting this, I’ve never seen it! Marilyn is sizzling and sexy 🔥 and Jack is the perfect foil - those looks at the audience get me every time! It’s hysterical! This is such a classic! Marilyn is the ONLY one who can be so alluring and sumptuous with every breath, and her breathless delivery is so sexually charged and yet she’s funny doing a good hearted parody of herself as the audience simultaneously laughs at Benny, and falls in love with Marilyn with every expression! God, she’s every man’s dream girl ! ❤️ At least in my day!
Damn no wonder men was chasing her!!! Look how gorgeous she is.. and the way she stares at them.. I’m melting just looking at her lol her voice is smoothing. I can watch her and hear her all day
anyone that says that Marilyn didn't pay her dues and can't act or sing is just out of their minds.... Shes been taught by the best there is in Hollywood. Shes a star . hands down comic !! Her drama acting and singing is stellar. Marilyn Monroe was born & died in Hollywood. It was her town. Outstanding singer actress.
God damn she was amazing and yet she thought so little of herself... goes to show how our inner thoughts and what ppl close to us say to us, about us, can wreak havoc on our self-esteem and how we see ourselves. She was absolute perfection but saw herself as a fraud, as if she had somejow convinced ppl she was an actor and shed be found out at any minute when she was an amazing actress who more than deserved her name in lights. It kills me that she never saw herself in true light. I will never believe she killed herself purposely or accidentally. Her death was due to someone else and its heart breaking that only she and a few ppl truly know what happen that night.
I believe she was killed, too, but even if she did kill herself, that doesn't make her a bad person. She was horrible depressed and troubled, poor woman. She had the most horrible childhood.
Its amazing how fragile and sweet you can tell she is but at the same time knows EXACTLY what to do to grab everyones attention. Yet she was always so unsure of herself. ;~;
I watched the Jayne Mansfield 1963 version first. Then I found this version. Jayne was fantastic! But there’s no one like Marilyn Monroe. Just stunning, and you can’t take your eyes off her the entire time. ❤️
She had such an awful childhood and became the most famous woman in history. She was so incredibly talented and the most beautiful woman who ever existed. She will always be relevant and our perception of her will never change because we never saw her grow old. She's the most fascinating woman who ever graced this world.
Norma Talmadge was one of the biggest movie stars of the 1920s. Many baby girls were named after her. Norma's younger sisters, Constance and Natalie, were also film actresses. In fact, Natalie was once married to Buster Keaton.
this is a great example of marilyn's comedic timing and overall acting ability. she even slipped in a 'dumb blonde' joke that seemed to be missed by everyone at the end. 'cinnamon scope'
It may sound odd but when she sings "Bye, bye baby" on this tv show, it is almost like she is saying goodbye to us (bc she would die young) but also reassuring us she would be back.
One of Jack's character traits, in addition to his "cheapness", "lousy violin playing" and his supposed age of "39", was that he also considered himself a "ladies' man". That's demonstrated here- but only in a FANTASY could he ever get "that close" to Marilyn Monroe! He later said her performance in this sketch was "wonderful"...
She adored Jack Benny. He was 33 years older than her and happily married, but if he were single, I think she would have dated him. He was funny and the most popular man on the planet.
The gag is similar to a narration George Jessel did on a radio episode supposedly dramatizing Jack's life: "In his youth, Jack had a younger sister named Florence. Today, he has an older sister named Florence."
