What is so respectable about Marina is that, from the start, she struggled with her identity and her place as a women in society, had too much self awareness and stuck to her guns with all the labels and fans backlash. After all the recognition she got, she still has the same motives and self awareness 10 years later and doesn't sound tone deaf through all of it
She literally needed to write a song to her toxic fans saying she won’t change what she is. “Blame you, shame you, pretend to even hate you”. What a shame.
@@axelbaez1086 Yet she won't let her fans question the output she makes. Not everything an artist makes is amazing. That's ok. It's more toxic to demand everyone love everything an artist produces, even if it hurts their feelings that people don't always like their work. I love Marina, but we're not her slaves.
@@DiscordBeing She never once claimed you were. No one is forcing you to like everything. But the amount of vitriol and critique far overstepped any “eh, this just kind of isn’t my vibe.” People were saying she “sold out,” she “lost her touch,” she “became another one of ‘them’,” she was “forgot her roots,” yet she’s the controlling one for being upset at them? Please. “Won’t let fans question her output?” She never let fans question it to begin with. Fans have always had little to no input in what an artist puts out. Marina puts out what she wants for her artistic expression; you never had a say to begin with :) As for complaining, literally who stopped you? None of her comments are restricted or shut down. In what way is she preventing you from complaining. She isn’t. She just doesn’t care about your criticisms.
She really is the voice of a generation. Real artist, true to herself and genuine. Is hard to think that she hadn’t an easy career but sure should be fulfilling looking back. Marina you are my mother, my young years belonged to you and I lived my life with your music I’m so thankful for you.
Is hard to think that she hadn’t an easy career? Did you mean that her career was easy or hard?... lol I think her career wasnt easy at all, from what I've heard.
I mean... She didn't. She kind of knows and accepts the fact that not everyone is going to love what you put out there. I think that's more mature than acting like everything you do is perfect. I also think those fans who don't necessarily consider L+F to be her best work but express it so respectfully are also more mature than blindly swallowing anything an artist releases. ☕
@@AlbertoTrivizo true but some periods come by where they put people for the trends, such as gabbie hanna, which I find demeaning of their brand and the series.
@@baselak5 then don't watch them and unsuscribe their channel and watch only the videos that you find interesting??? it's clear that you're not their only audience

Wow Genius actually got an amazing artist on here. This women is one of the greatest lyricists of our time. Her music has always been genius all the way back to The Family Jewels! She calls out the world and society in a way that needs to be done and she does it so beautifully. I’ve heard some of her “fans” say Love+ Fear is too political and to that I say she’s always been political. Always has been. Remember the song Hollywood where it was literally all just about how people think America is the greatest country in the world when it certainly isn’t. So she’s always been political through her songs. She’s a genius.
I’ve followed Marina since she blew up on Tumblr. I have loved every album, from TFJ, Electra Heart, FROOT, L+F and now Ancient dreams in a modern land. I love her as an artist because she doesn’t have just one sound, she’s very versatile which makes her such a unique artist.
she is so eloquent. i’ve loved growing up with her and seeing the person she has become. ancient dreams is so different than anything shes ever done, but at the same time, it is so familiar to her old music. it’s mature and just simply beautiful. love u forever mom!
It´s really sad, they said it didn´t sound like Marine, the songwriting was bad, it was too poppy, Marina didn´t have what she used to. It was too much. I think people hated it cause they didn´t want anything new, almost like they didn´t want her to be happy.
omg. i'm not sure if there are anyone else in the comments who can see auras, but if any of you guys can; do you see her aura?! it's insane! she's literally shrouded in light.
I just love how Marina and Katy Perry and some other few artists preach these same things when they talk about the current music industry, they are the real thing and they know their value, so they stopped trying to reach the top of the charts and caring about banal stuff like awards to focus on what they really want, spread some positivity with their art, bravo! I just wish some of the current popular artists give their public a glance behind the scenes to stop the actual toxic behavior stan-internet has nowadays, but maybe I'm asking for to much :/
I'm glad that she spoke about the freedom of being an alternative artist. I've seen some artists take a very unique style and themes in music at first but then they announce that they mould themselves to be more mainstream. As a result we've been left with songs that (I feel like) represent their true selves but it's such a shame that there won't be any more of that.
I still love Sailor and Mermaid the most! I didn’t like the last album but props to any artist doing her own thing. Love the messages on the new record.
I love Love + Fear, but i am an older fan by age, but i found Marina right before the release of Froot. Love+Fear spoke to me and still finding myself. ADIAML was i found me now everyone can kiss it.
Honestly, Love + Fear was a great album, but as she described it, it’s more industrial, compared to what most of her fans prefer, which is a rougher sound like TFJ. L+F was my first era listening to her. I started to get into her music when Baby was released, and I ate up L+F. I just think that most of the fans jump on the hate bandwagon because it isn’t like their first experience with Marina, unlike me, whose first was L+F. Nonetheless, it’s still a wonderful album and the fans should appreciate it. It’s still a work of art.
