You know Project Runway's "unconventional materials" challenge where designers have to take something ???? and turn it into high fashion couture? Well, this is the musical equivalent to that.
It's like a comment on the original 'Boyfriend' from Justin Bieber. There, he describes, how he could give her the stars and more and Marina knows it's bullshit and confronts him in her version of the song. And she's doing that not by hating, just by saying, that she wishes he could be a better men than he is and being true to her! Brilliant! She's my favourite musician for a reason!
I had to listen to Justin Bieber's version first because I never herd it before. It was horrible, but marina is an angel that saved me form the putrid depths of hell we know as Justin Bieber's talent. She saved me from that nightmare.

Not that the song isn't bad, but like, it sounded like by saying "crap poppy song" you meant that part of the songs crappiness came from the fact it was pop....and.......you do know that just because indie fans like Marina doesn't MAKE her indie right? Like she's a pop artist. She has told people and identified herself as a pop singer and writer before.

The thing I love most about this is she seems to have switched the lyrics so she's speaking from the girls perspective while Justin is speaking from the boys perspective in the song. This is so amazing, way better than the original.

Gaz Roberts I'm not a big fan of Bieber myself, but I would like to point out that before he became The Justin Bieber with Beliebers "swarming" all around him, he was actually pretty talented, which was why he was recognised as a rising talent. Unfortunately, it appears that fame has gotten into his head and his attitude has given him a bad reputation. In addition, i feel that some of his fans have given him so much blind support that he has gotten the mindset that he can get away with anything. (No offence to the Beliebers!) An over-inflated ego, lots of money, a high profile, lack of self-restraint and occasional immaturity is never a good combination. I'm not defending him, but i just want to remind everyone that he has a pretty decent talent, but its all now overshadowed by his recent stunts of immaturity. Yes he should grow up, but no, he's not just famous for being famous.
Not only this was beautiful but it fits so well with her second album theme! If Marina had the habit of including covers songs on her albums like Lana Del Rey, I bet this would be on Electra Heart!
I normally hate when artist pull a ‘no homo’ on cover songs, but this is amazing. It totally transforms the piece , and feels more like a clap-back piece as opposed to a cover

Marina just made superficial crud, into a relatable, yet slightly deep song. The music is better, the vocals are OBVIOUSLY better. So thank Jesus for Marina! This is why I am a diamond!

Oh my god, now this song actually has meaning and can be taken seriously. Bc Marina made this song into something that all girls could relate to at some point in their lives.
