Lara Croft faces many underwater beasties during her quests, however are these marine menaces actually misunderstood? I spoke to Tomb Raider fan and activist Bernardo Hautenne from Blue Religion, a marine conservation group based in Mexico, and asked how the game's creatures measure up to their real-life counterparts.

It's amazing and kinda weird how I became an animal lover despite playing Tomb Raider as a kid - despite me virtually killing all those wildlife everyday.

Great episode. Tomb raider 2 was a one of the reasons I eventually got into scuba diving. Also so glad you brought up the Greenland shark - I feel not enough people understand how cool it is that they were in underworld.

Because of Tomb Raider I now know that terrifying giant eels exist for real. Thank you Tomb Raider. XD I share your fear of Living Quarters, Chris. It also made me aware that I have Thalassophobia. Hey Chris, excellent video as always & so informative. I would like to note that I always thought the "golden barracudas" in The Temple of Xian is actually golden koi. I remember reading this in an unofficial PlayStation solution guide & it makes sense to me because koi are representative of Asian mythology especially around river, streams & waterfalls. This would seemingly make more sense than barracudas. What are your thoughts? :)

Great episode! And quite depressing with some of those facts, but at least we also know the animals are generally much friendlier than in TR and there's no need to worry about what they might do. By the way I see you didn't mention the jellyfish in Underworld, I guess because they just hang around and don't do anything (other than show the way)? Well overall you seemed to only focus on those that are able attack. You know, overall, I somehow expected that there would be more, are there only so few types of underwater enemies? Haha I wish you would've asked which could be the *actual* dangrous underwater enemies for future games. Well, I suppose an octopus was mentioned :D

Such an interesting video, the work and creative approaches you take are admirable, no TR channel does it like you!💕 Bernardo gave a lot of fun insight, it was very informative but also entertaining. Just gotta add you forgot to include the eels from Shadow, the crocodiles and piranhas of TR3 are also in South Pacific not only in London or India respectively 👀 I believe there was also white variation of the catfish in Tibet in TR2. And a special mention for the little catfish in TR anniversary that accompanies you sometimes, first friendly one. The classic enemy behavior was always the same, they would chase you nonstop as long as you were within reach 😆at least later games improved this to a somewhat more realistic behavior, but i guess it would be too easy if all of the animals were pacifists lmao so you can't take games (or other media) as an accurate depiction of any of these creatures.

It is hard to say if the moray can feel love and affection. We tend to underestimate other animals. We know that Mammals can feel love. We know thar Birds can feel love. And I woud not be surprised if other Reptiles like snake and lizards can feel love too. They can certainly dream. And who knows maybe even Fish and Amphibians could feel love
