In this video we take a look at the Saltwater Ecosphere I built 6 months ago. A lot of life forms have gone extinct since the previous video. Many are still persisting and some are even breeding however!
The tiny marine snails are the most notable species you notice within this ecosphere. They feed on the seaweed and have a large breeding population. I imagine their population will continue to rise for as long as there is enough essential nutrients to support the population growth.
Another breeding species within this ecosphere are the Ostracods. I have counted 2 notable species. The first species are the long bean shaped Ostracods. They seem to come in both black and brown colour variations. These ostracods spend a majority of their lives under the sand. The second ostracod species are rounder. They are more likely to journey onto the surface of the sand, however can also burrow. These round ostracods have a blue and yellow tint on their chitin when viewed at certain angles.
I believe the pink clam like organisms are Thin Tellin (Macomangulus tenuis). They filter the water column for food. I am unsure whether or not they are reproducing, however there is a notable population of them.
The coolest species within this ecosphere is the Water-line Isopods. They are few in number, but easily my favorite species within this ecosystem. Originally their population was a lot higher, but it has decreased drastically. They can often be seen zooming around the jar in search of food. When they are not swimming around they are hiding underneath the sand.
THE AVOID CONFUSION:
The Saltwater Ecosphere was made on the 10th May 2021, however the actual creation video wasn't uploaded until the 19th of July 2021. People are asking if this should be a 4 month update, however I don't upload my videos immediately the same day the ecosphere is created. That wouldn't be possible. To put it simply, upload dates don't = creation dates.
