what I liked the most about the multilaser scene is that the marine used a so-called "blind grenade" which basically a smoke grenade that releases charged particles with the smoke, so it also provides concealment against infrared and thermal imaging. that means that the marine himself also can't see through it with his own multi-spectral optics, so he fired the plasma pistol at the target's location by memory. the creator's attention to detail is on another level.
Yep, blind grenades are designed to obstruct all sensory devices so they are a combination of flash bang, smoke, chaff and IR grenades. Like you said, the Marine got one solid look at the enemy position so he already knew where to shoot. Not for nothing, he makes the shot with a plasma pistol, not a plasma rifle. It's an impressive range even if he had a clear line of sight. And lest we forget, during the initial ambush with the multi-laser, the marine not only identifies the threat but puts accurate return fire downrange which was only blocked by the gun mantle. Probably my favorite part about this series is that the space marines are shown traditionally as walking tanks, they are heavy and imposing. However, they also showcase their speed, because despite weighting 5 or 6 hundred pounds, they still move insanely quick. We get to see some of that speed and it's terrifying.
@@PRC533 From my understanding Astartes cannot see through their helmets. I've always been told that the Marines are completely blind under their helmets, in the sense that they can't see out of them, but that their helmet scans and sees everything for them and then projects an image of what is being seen from the inside, which is why when that one Marine got his lens cracked and from then on you could see the red circles inside it constantly scanning around for new threats.
@@SomethingScotty yes and no. Think of them like really advanced night vision optics, except they can switch between a number of modes including, IR, Thermal, and magnetic as well as other wavelengths. So the lenses aren't just transparent glass as much as an amplifying device.
I don't know if you heard, but after the Inquisitor got corrupted by the warp portal, he said to the marine in the white cloak, "recall then immediately" which is what sent his subordinate running. In the last fucking seconds of that inquisitor's life, he made the decision to warn the space marines on the ground and sacrificed himself to do so. fucking madman.
Do you mean the dude kneeling and praying while connected to the sphere? If yes, I don't think he is an Inquisitor but rather an inquisition psycher. Either way a brave sould indeed :D
@@Daniel__Nobre most likely an agent or apprentice to an Inquisitor. Inquisitors are not prone to put themselves in danger and certainly not in a routine mop-up operation. Deems themselves far too important for such tasks, especially if there is no glory or guarantee of survival.
There are many, many things better than Avengers especially now. Marvel has gone from a exciting universe to a garbage, racist, fascist and woke political cesspit of idiocy and virtue signalling derangement.
Not better, but equal on completely opposite plains. Hard to compare the two, being so different that’s all. Will admit I do prefer 40K quite a bit more, just wish I could see more. Thanks for the free show and lore!

28:04 I love how they’re approaching this “UNRESTRAINED PORTAL TO HELL” and walking up to it like they’re picking up an Amazon package on their front porch
Actually happens a few seconds after. Once they are repelled by it, they only push harder. They are here to do a job, and they will see it done. Only in death does duty end.
The guy who made this knew a thing or two about weapons: the bolter's trigger stages like an AUG, (stage 1 for semi, stage 2 for auto), and the shells' mini rockets actually burn through to the explosive filler. That and the mini rockets have their own lighting and audio. He's too good for modern GW, IMHO. He's too good for modern Hollywood.
"He fucking rallies, cus he's a god-damn space marine!" I totally feel your giddy excitement about how awesome that is, and how awesome this series is. Great stuff.
In the "valley endscene" take a look at the other pillars, you can see his brothers mateialize on them, gives a sense of the massive scale of the place!
Wait really imma pay extra attention cause I’ve seen this dozens of times but never noticed Edit: U sure? I still couldn’t see it. Like I saw some distortion but I think those are more flecks of dust/sand/whatever flitting through the screen
@@AverageAwesomeDude Trust me. They are there. Pretty sure Syama (creator) confirmed that they are there as well as so many other viewers noticing the blips. It is clearly an intentional effect. I just love how I can watch this over and over (probably seen 200 times by now, no joke) and still notice new details. Like, bravo to the creator, because I don't know how you could plan this all out and execute it so well. Back to the pillar thing, there is a sudden flash/brightness/contrast change in the areas of each pillar and dust implosion at the time of the teleports. I think there are three in quick succession. Not sure what happened to the other astartes. It makes sense that the warp entity would drop them out of the warp in an important place.
One thing that I feel that you tried to imply, but were not completely able to was how quickly they process a threat and react to it. The books like to describe it in vivid detail, but this is one of the first (of hopefully many) animations that portrayed it. One of my favourite scenes is the Hallway Autocannon Ambush and its not because of the 8ft warrior clad in armor that prolly weighs a literal ton sneaking behind the hidden gun team (yes, there were two people). The second Astartes in the squad, after witnessing a near miss by his battle-brother, takes a brief look at the bullet hole on the hallway and makes a split second decision to subtly angle his pauldron towards the unseen shooter to maximize protection because he knows that it is one of the thickest pieces of his armor and could reliably shrug off an autocannon round. Once glance was enough for him to determine the caliber of the weapon, it’s trajectory as well as its source, and the best course of action. All in a split second, while in motion. I’d like to see Chief do that without AI.
Chief did that without AI for 25 years, then when he finally got AI he consistently beat her to the punch in tactical scenarios, despite her nanosecond processing times, enough that she stops trying to offer advice before the start of the first Halo game, opting to concentrate on electronic warfare and intel gathering to support him, as she was designed to. Spartans might not be as strong or tough as Astartes, but they are nearly as impressive and effective in combat. A good number of Spartans pull off Space Marine level feats in battle quite regularly, and the Chief does about as well as a named Ultramarine. If they had slightly better armour and weapons, Spartans would be equal to Astartes in every way but lifespan.
@@gama343 I absolutely agree, space marines and spartans are extremely similar when you look at their creation and skills. Space marines do have the superior tech however.
master chief is unbelievably powerfull hed do just well in 40k verse hes basically an astartes already minus the extea organs (i think) plus better armor and more physical strength (pretty sure)
Master Chief himself is a legend, he didn't need the bigger armor the space marines had. He was already a welled trained soldier and also that he even still fought wearing outdated armor even against other Spartans
When you get the inquisitor POV, the orbs obviously manifest as blue but you'll notice his clasped hands give off a black smoke/aura. To my mind the inquisitor grasps what's about to happen, gives the warning then displaces himself, knowing his 'guards' will waste whatever takes him over, in order to manifest as the black smoke that interrupts the tentacled being in the warp.
@@miceatah9359 said he interrupts the blue entity at the cost of his life, didn’t say defeat. Fact remains there’s only two instances of that black smoke, inquisitors hands and whatever it is that envelopes the blue entity holding the marines.
@@CunySark The idea of an Inquisitor, top of the baseline humans, sacrificing his own life to just temporarily stun a minor deamon is kind of scary because puts in perspective just how powerful deamons are in the WH40K universe
I always thought that this was: The black smoke is the Inq concentrating and remaining hidden while it intercepts any communication that the captured orb might attempt to the boarded ship. He listens in on the conversation the orbs have and then when an order is given that threatens the lives of the astartes, he breaks focus and can't conceal himself in order to warn those guarding him, "Recall them immediately!". At that point, the captured orb immediately recognises that there is another presence connected and possesses the Inq.
Totally agree, Inquisitorial Psykers do not fuck around, he'd know what is about to happen so he essentially went nova, burning every ounce of psykic power he had to disrupt them, knowing full well he'll be possessed in an instant immediately after doing so. He got a warning out and gave the Marines a fighting chance. By the Emperor's will.
ok, here is a quick (lol) break down of what is happening through out the whole serie Some important background: The Astartes (known as Space Marines) are genetically engineered super soldiers (were talking bigger, stronger, faster, with extra, redundant organs, the whole 9) and they are equipped with damn near the best gear the Imperium of Man (there's always exceptions) can make, Astartes are also known as "angels of death" and are basically mythical to most humans in the galaxy because they're so few of them (about a million total for an empire that spans the galaxy and oversees millions of worlds), when space marines get involved into anything, its usually a big fucking deal. The Warhammer 40k universe is an absolute shitshow, the Imperium of Man is pretty much a grab-bag of every dystopian future you can imagine, its highly xenophobic, religious and authoritarian, but it has to be because literally everything else in the galaxy will HAPPILY annihilate you (if you're lucky) or worse (and there is SOOO MUCH WORSE). Space Marines are mostly autonomous in organization, with only one real authority over them, the Inquisition (they have near absolute authority in the Imperium). The 3 universal threats to the imperium of man, and the reason why Space Marines exist in the first place are Xenos (aliens), Heretics and Daemons. The last important bit is that in the 40k universe, there's an parallel/alternate dimension called "The Warp", which is how ships travel across the galaxy at faster than light speeds, the problem with the warp is that its the realm of daemons and the gods of chaos, think hell, but on steroids, (actually, everything in 40k is on steroids) and very weird, its INCREDIBLY dangerous (star system destroying kinds of dangers in some cases) to fuck around with ANYTHING remotely connected with the warp.. Ok, now on to what actually happens in the series: A force of Astartes are intervening in planetary rebellion (rebellion happens often, doesn't usually require Astartes involvement), they deploy a kill team/combat squad (5 marines) to board a rebel ship in a boarding torpedo with the objective being to secure that weird psychic orb. They have one of those orbs on their ship "contained" already with an inquisitorial psyker linked/communing with it and Astarte Veterans (that's why they have white helmets) standing guard. It looks like the rebellion was likely caused by that orb in the first place, it has to ability to compel/sway others to its will and it tried to do the same with the marines (those pulses/whispers as they were approaching the orb) but failed because on top of their physical and genetic augmentation, Astartes also go through decades of absolutely horrendously brutal training and indoctrination. Then they get to the orb, looks like they are plugging in tech that allows the Psyker on the Astartes ship to eavesdrop on the orbs. Orb 1 is on the Astartes ship, Orb 2 is on the rebel ship and the conversation goes as follows: Orb 1: Who is there? Orb 2: I have failed, Brother. Orb1: We have all failed Orb 2: The Astartes deny our touch, you must break your seal (or shield) Orb 1: Impossible, we will never survive Orb 1: YOU MUST TAKE THEM (referring to the Kill team on the rebel ship) At this point, the inquisitorial Psyker tells the veteran "recall them immediately", the veteran gives the order and the marine in the background rushes off. Because the psyker broke concentration to warn the veteran, he left himself open to possession by Orb 1, Orb 1 breaks his seal/shield and tries to take over the psyker, the veterans put him down quickly, warp possession is absolutely no joke and if you ever dig deeper into the lore, you will understand that their reaction was in absolutely no way unreasonable or overkill. Back on the ship, the squad leader gets the recall order but before they can react, Orb 2 takes them. Inside orb, it appears that they the 5 marines are being reeled in by some squid like thing inside the warp but the entity is attacked by a big black smoke (could be a daemon, or it could be psychic backlash from its brother orb's new host being turned into chunky human salsa) and the squad leader re-materialize on an alien planet. As he looks out from his own pillar, you can see flashes of light on the other pillars out in the distance, the rest of his squad. and that's it for now. There is some speculation about what the orbs are, the best fitting theory being an technology from an alien species called the Yu'vath (if you wish to do your own digging), its also entirely possible that the creator (all of this was made by a single person) just made up his own alien threat too :D
I think the first Rogue Trader gamebook had a good explanation for the warp. It is a psykic storm. Emotions, ideas, thoughts manifest in the warp. This is a realm of every nightmare and horror mixed with fantastic beauty. So it is really hard to navigate when it is pushing and pulling on the ship. The beacon gives ships a landmark in order to tell where they were. There are still world out there that have been cut off for eons some get corrupted by creatures from the warp which leads to events like in the short where they get contacted. brought into the fold only to find out that there was some xeno among them influencing them all along. The Xenos in the short knows how to weave and manipulate the warp to some extent which is why they could pull the marines through it to another world. The person who made this is Syama Peterson.
I initially thought the orbs were an alien species called Umbra. But its more likely they are Yu'vath constructions. Yu'vath have incredible control over warp energy and use it to power everything. It's a very obscure xenos species that is not really known so it's an easy mistake to not know what it is. 😁
I was gonna watch the straight version because I know all the lore you’re covering, but watching someone talk about something they’re so passionate about is such an infectious experience it got me fired up more than watching the straight video could
the thunderbolt did not break off and went somewhere else, it actually attacks the rebel ship (fires a missle, accelerates to outrun AA fire) from the left to right side of the screen, in order to draw some AA fire and/or have the rebel ship focus on him initially in order to somewhat give the assault ram a shorter exposure time to AA fire before breeching.
If you look closely, it fires at least 2 missiles at the rebel freighter and disables the rear main thrusters - they go dark a little bit before the boarding ship does what it does best.
The most beautiful moment in this whole series for me is the absolute commitment of movement when the Astartes stabs the psyker between the trapezius and pectoral muscle groups. What makes this substantial compared to any other region of the body to perform a stab is how many vital organs are completely disabled in a single strike, which also goes to show how precise and fundamentally controlled these guys are. There was zero hesitation and immediately after that moment rips the spinal column from the brain stem. It's just such a crazy level of determination and lethality that simply doesn't yield, even after basically fighting complete paralysis.
It took me a few watches to realise the Inquisitor is eavesdropping on what is being said between the 2 entities and hears that they're it's going to abduct them and says "Withdraw them immediately!" But in doing so has alerted the 2 entities to his presence and gets psychically attacked straight away, Which as we can see attempts to resist but ultimately fails.
Everything about this series is god tier. The character models, textures, tactics, animation, special effects, sound and music design, environments, just everything.
The amount of pain and training you go through to become an astartes or god forbid, a primaris is enough to kill most able candidates. Only the cream of the cream of the crop ever make it this far. This group seems like a chapter backing the inquisition which means reallllyyyy high up marines specifically trained to deal with chaos, xenos, and pyskers. Probably a tier below grey knight so definitely no fear in them. Seems like the types to get dumped in the warp and survive a couple centuries honestly.
@@djcuevas1057 I know that they are able of feeling emotions. What I meant was that they will most likely ignore/ suppress any emotions detremental to their ability to fight, especially if they are seasoned or specifically trained in facing psykers and chaos. Seeing an astartes show fear in this kind of battle will be a somewhat rare occasion.
Considering the communication between the orbs stating "break your seal" and the response "we will not survive", I think that it didn't take long for the entity within the orb to be noticed in the warp and it was quickly consumed by something more powerful. It would be a great reflection of even these seemingly potent creatures being easy prey in the warp.
The inquisitor is animated with a blackish aura during the psychic communications. The black entity attacking the Yuvath could be the displaced psychic essence of the inquisitor attacking the Yuvath to free the trapped Astartes.

the psyker fight is genuinely amazing to look at. from the force of the shockwave impacting the bolter rounds trajectory to the absolute cold-bloodedness of the astartes striking as soon as the psyker loses even a modicum of control.
And the best part is, those are low grade weak psykers. The stronger ones can Rend an entire space Marine squad into Ribbons with a flick of their finger. The Book, 'The Damnation of Pythos' has a great sequence towards the end that shows it well.
Just found the video today and subscribed just from the opening spiel. 10:21 - 500 Space Marines would be considered overkill to take over our entire planet as it stands today. And I think it was just the single torpedo so only the squad of 5 Astartes led by the Sergeant. Thanks for providing a good bridge for a new audience to appreciate the genius of the setting and the work of Syama. Oh, side note - the ceramite armor they are wearing has integrated comms so throughout you can't hear them talking and planning. When the Sanctioned Psyker yells at his max voluntary volume, you can barely hear the muffled "RECALL THEM IMMEDIATELY!" That moment to warn the Captain and Lieutenant cost the Psyker everything... and when the other intelligence took him over... it forced his body and mind to chant painfully loudly. Such a powerful moment of horror.
500 Marines would be considered overkill for almost any mission - That is 1/2 of a Chapter 100 would be more what is expected as a large strike force, there was a story in one of the older Codex's that mentioned that on more than one occasion as little as 10 has pacified entire worlds In the Book Salvation's Reach by Dan Abnett an entire formation of Imperial Guard consider themselves lucky that 3 marines agree to support them - and at more than one point the Marines are forced to slow down their attack on the Reach, one even going back to ask what is taking them so long
31:30 He doesn't "just" look they have comms inside their helmets we as the viewer just don't hear it. (creators choice done on purpose is my assumption). If you notice carefully throughout all of the parts of the Astartes series you see them communicating within their helmets very subtle motions and movements. some of the stuff people might have missed: Just like the thunder hawk that flew away in the beginning actually flew behind the enemy ship to take out the engines if you notice carefully you'll see a rocket enter the engines and then the engine lights are off. with melting metal and sparks coming out of the engines. and the thunderhawk flies over the enemy ship drawing fire power away. the drones take care of most incoming fire with a few rockets passing the first one the defensive cannon we see shoot taking out of the other incoming projectiles. And as they are flying in hot on the ship they use plasma lasers to melt into the hull. (watch the original its much better quality) 5:39 here you'll see 2 white lines tiny impact on engines and then fire from above the enemy ship trailing the thunder hawk draw away enemy fire towards the front of the ship. The details in this whole mini-series are incredible like blink and you'll miss a couple of things. 10:33 you can see 2 hooded figures spotter and shooter (hence why the space marine shot twice.) subtle to notice but the space marines don't waste ammo. 14:20 you'll notice the sergeant waiting for his marines to get into position and as they get ready reloading and all he gives a subtle nod probably 14:26 saying "go". 16:07 i assume its the same sergeant, right hand knife ready for use and has his plasma pistol in his left hand he shoots couple of times to distract then drops the weapon to directly switch over to his bolt pistol. my assumption is its faster to drop the plasma pistol and grab his other pistol then to holster it during combat. However! there is a error here. on 11:30 (you can't see it in this clip because of the cam being in the way.) on his left leg he has his Boltgun and in his left hand he's shooting with the Bolt pistol. But 12:05 when taking out the twin lazer on his left side his boltgun changed into a plasma pistol. There is so much more but this feels like rambling on. sorry for the long comment but the timestamps are there to watch it again.
No, go on. You've stopped just before arguably the most interesting, and speculative, part. By the way, the space marine, in the error you're referring to, is not the sergeant and the same space marine we see getting confronted by the multi-laser later in the corridor. The sergeant is designated by the black chevron insignia on his helmet.
There's another error on the sergeant's left shoulder armor. It's clearly damaged by the multilaser attack and remains pockmarked through the psyker battle... then becomes flawlessly intact again for all of part 5. Where he takes chest damage also changes.
Okay dude. I dont know why, but I just today found your reaction to Astartes. I've watched a lot of your other videos, and subscribe to your channel. I, without doubt, completely love and appreciate your analysis. You absolutely nailed items that other reactors missed, were unsure about or went down the wrong path. I completely appreciate the background you filled in on stuff I didn't think about or connect. I was also interested in your reference to the Emperor at the end of the show. It really made me think when you mentioned the row of skeletons in a throne as far as the eye could see. Just really made me think about 1,000 psykers a day to keep him in his half-dead condition. Wonder if that has any bearing or if I'm just reaching. Im now off to watch your breakdown of the remastered edition. Have a great day.
The moment you said, "bullet the size of a red bull can" I was taking a bite of a cookie and started fucking choking I was laughing so hard. Thank you man.

I'm content with the continuation of the Astartes series. The creator definitely has a lot of support and might even make it a full-time job. At least this is what i hope for.
Idk why...but seeing someone nerd out about a fandom I know nothing about is really fun and enjoyable for me. I typically play Pathfinder and D&D, so this must be what it feels like when I try to describe that to someone who has never played before. Really good stuff.

Fun fact. The big mask dude, he stopped the Bolter shells with a telekinetic force field (which the esteemed hose is correct would be a type of invulnerable save; the space marine’s power armor also gives such a save).
Normal marine armour doesn't give an Invuln save It has a 3+ armour save - enough to stop anything short of an Anti-tank missile The Marnines true elites would donn Tactical Dreadnought armour Which has a 2+ Armour and 5+ Invulnerability save as it has a fragment of a piece of armour once carried by the Emperor The shield the Psyker has is based off an old force shield power that gave a 4+ invuln save Which is the same as a Storm Shield - An energy shield designed for breaching and engaging monsters
@@bengrogan9710 Theirs are most likely psychic kinetic fields given what they are. BUT they could just as easily be mundane powerfield generators like those carried by human soldiers.
A quick note, be sure to watch the playlist of the astartes content, we should not have compilations that have even a tenth of the original views. Funnel it all towards Astartes.
I love these kinds of explanations. 40k is so dense that even though I knew 90% of what was going on, you revealed and explained that 10% that was missed and I love you for it. C:
I always link your video in addition to the unedited one to anyone who wants to understand the lore of what they've just seen. You gave the best explanation and breakdown of all the other attempts I've watched.
The Astartes mini series actually made me interested in the Warhammer 40k universe. I used to hear about it here and there, but I always thought, that is was just a PC game series. I never knew until a few days ago, that it is actually a table top game with a huge lore behind it. Now I am thinking about getting into the table top and buying my first models.
I think the 29:45 things are shards of blackstone with electronics in them. The proximity of the blackstone is blocking the warp which is why you see those expanding areas from each one as it dampens chaos around each one

thank you for the great analysis and simplified explanations of the 40k universe. I'm not new to it but it's refreshing to hear things explained in simple terms!
Please make more video of 40k lore ! I really like the way you talk about real historical example to explain things in 40k universe ! I've seen a number of these videos, and you're the first guy to comment on the breaking ice (strange it's only in one small patch) and the similarities between the half dead Emperor of Man and the dead looking host at the end. Great Job!
Amazing reaction! I love the tid bits of lore and seeing how excited you get explaining it. I've been dipping my toes into the world of WH and videos like this are why I keep wading out into the water.
Glad to see another enthusiast! While I disagree on some of your analysis, I dig your attention to these details that are absent in our current big budget movies .
This is actually quite refreshing, a good reaction video in its own way. It works especially well because of the expertise that you bring from the lore, games, and worldly knowledge. Thank you for putting out this good product.
My introduction to W40k was Dawn of War around 2006. It's also useful to point out that StarCraft was originally supposed to be a W40k game but they couldn't secure the rights the Tyranids and Eldar became Zerg and Protoss respectively
Did you notice at the end of part 5 that there are the flashes, of presumably the other space marines, arriving on the other pillars... Those skeletons are huuuuuge!
The channel Arch does an amazing job explaining what the psykers and the big balls are. (Though the theories he proposes aren't confirmed by the creator, they make a good deal of sense.)
In part 4 when they fight the psykers he talks about the other Space Marines dying but as you can see in part 5 they didint die they survived the "Force Push" from the psykers.
Hey man loved this video so I just wanted to say: When most people pause the video to talk it’s annoying but idk what you did, it was awesome listening to you explain everything. Cool shit man!
Thank you for such a deep, informative breakdown of literally the best Warhammer 40k animation ever made (imo of course). Astartes absolutely deserves more in depth analysis and discussion. Theres soo much material expertly condensed into a 15 minute short, I was blown away. The amount of detail in the animation alone makes it a video worthy of analysis. Then theres the great sound design, impressive cinematography, intense action, and fascinating story full of mystery and suspense. There is quite a lot of unspoken deep lore all over the "Astartes" short that builds up intrigue masterfully. This one video has directly, undoubtedly, sent thousands of people who never knew Warhammer 40k even existed, down the insanely deep rabbit hole that is the hobby, never to be seen again. Lost in the lore, God damn... This guy showed EVERYONE how its done. I smile when I think about the level of inspiration and/or hype he showered on the entirety of the fandom. I hold on to the hope that the "Astartes" project low key shamed the official Games Workshop animation department into putting much more effort and attention to detail into future projects. We can only hope "Astartes" will be held up as the standard for all 40k animations now that Syama Pedersen(the creator of Astartes for those who don't know) has officially been hired by Games Workshop. I can see Games Workshop's future projects being as good as Blizzard's cinematics if the planets align just right. Maybe if Syama is put in a position of authority he'll be able to change the culture over at Games Workshop when it comes to, at the very least, attention to detail in their future projects. I can go on...forev... Ohh my. I seem to have went on another fanatical rant about the glory of "Astartes"...Emperor save me, I need help. Seriously though, I thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown. If you couldn't tell, your video kind of got me hyped, and I mean HYPED.
It basically is, just a few billion times worse, but if your ship's Gellar field holds up, you can travel long distances in somewhat random amounts of time (sometimes even negative amounts) mostly safely.
Aight, I haven't digged much into Warhammer 40k lore but I think I might have a theory of what the Astartes series might be about. My guess is that the ship the Astartes are boarding belongs to cultists who worship Tzeentch or a lesser daemon/s of his. To me the big hint is in part 5 when the space marines enter the #02 vault and walk by those heads with spinal cords that are somewhat muppet psykers that behave like a hivemind (like those 2 that the space marines fought against in part 4), and that big golden unfinished "statue" was meant to be possessed / a material body for the aforementioned Tzeentch or a lesser daemon associated with him. Then when the space marines insert those restraining devices in the #02 sphere-portal, whatever warp creature/s didn't expect the Astartes to arrive that soon, so it/they have to improvise. The one that's in the sphere in the Space Marine's ship tries to possess the Inquisition's psyker, and the sphere in the cultist's ship suck the remaining Astartes into the warp and I don't really know what happens there. To summarize, what got me to think these whole series are related to Tzeentch are 2 specific scenes: 1st one right when the possessed Inquisition psyker starts to have those "visions"/possible outcomes of the future; core to Tzeentch's core depiction. And the 2nd scene is that one last aesthetic shot where main character we've been following through the parts gets teleported to from the warp, standing among all those desolated giant corpses in thrones that to me, are somewhat a representation of the Emperor but with a twisted underlined message. The hell do i know, only the creator of the series knows. Haven't found any solid explanation so far.
It can still be paranoia. The definition of paranoia is the belief that something or someone is out to get you, not the mistaken belief that something or someone is out to get you.
@@CordovanSplotchVT my definition of the word starts with "delustional" so mistaken is the preference, otherwise I just view it as trauma and stress. Cause those "are."
So you’re probably about to pause it but the orb in the back says “I have failed” the other replies “We have all failed” the smaller one then replies “The Astartes refuse our touch” the larger then replies “Break your shield brother. Take them.”
You can also see that the inquisitor at 31:23 is trying to hold onto himself vs the demon trying to possess him, I found it a very cool detail because it shows what inquisitors go through and how hard their struggles are to face. I also like how is shows his “will power”…his last effort
I played some random rts 40k game early 2000's, then I watched Astartes and was intrigued, trying to find more 40k stuff. But everything else is such low quality garbage it just doesn't hold up to the set standard set by Astartes for me. I hope this guy puts out more, I could honestly watch a 3hour movie without a single voice line and enjoy the fk outta it.
That is so true. My favorite part about the entire series is the absence of cookie cutter space marine voice lines, "For the emperor!" "Die, heretic!" "Burn in holy fire!" etc that are so overused. It was a genuine pleasure to nat have to hear the same cringe stuff again. And the amount of emotion that was able to be portrayed through slight tilts of the helmet, no facial expressions/words is incredible.
Great ride man. As a long time fan of 40k lore and sci-fi, this was fun to watch. I always thought it was the plasma shot that took out the demon, but psychic shenanigans makes sense. As a Blood Angels fan, I'm looking forward to watching your Angels of Death breakdowns next.
I just introduced a friend to the astartes 1-5 video earlier tonight and immediately followed it up with a link to your video here. I know it would take hours of me rambling to not even cover a tenth of what you say, so this is a much better way to do it. Here's hoping we have a new fan of the lore soon™
As a representative of The God Emperor's Most Holy Inquisition, I'm starting to resent the whole 'we are all evil' stigma that revolves around the Imperium of Man. Their armies are brutal for a damn good reason! Chaotic mutations, heretics and filthy xenos are a direct threat to the citizens of the Imperium, who for the most part are GOOD people - sometimes horribly mistreated by their Governors, or living on highly lethal Death Worlds, but deep down good people nonetheless! And before people bring up the whole xenophobic thing, allow me to remind you just what the Imperium is up against.... First and foremost, The Ruinous Powers. Also called The Gods of Chaos. Lovecraftian, warp spawned entities that control daemons, possessed psykers and heretical cultists and are fuelled by the thoughts and emotions of every single living and semi-living entity within the Galaxy. The power of these so called Gods is so potent, that even knowing just a little bit about them will cause insanity within an untrained mind and horrific mutations within normal communities. When Inquisitors hand out the Emperor's 'Mercy' , it really does mean they are killing you out of mercy! Orks. Devolved, ultra violent, numerous, collectively psychic mushrooms created by an ancient race as bio soldiers in a war that happened back when humanity was starting to evolve. Eldar/ Dark Eldar. Space Elves, who quite literally murder fucked a chaos god into existence and have been on the run ever since. Tau. Don't believe them when they talk about 'The greater good'. Their so called Greater Good is a systemic caste system with the ultra elite ensuring that everyone has a place in their empire. And everyone stays in that place like good obedient little puppies. They mightn't be as brutal in their nature as the Imperium, but they are just as oppressive. Necrons... We've all watched Terminator right? And we've all watched Evil Dead right? Now combine those and mix in horrific technologies and a hatred for all living creatures that predates the birth of humanity and yeah you got Necrons!!!! Yu'Vath... Ya just met them! Tyranids. Seriously the worst of the worst! Spiky, smelly, slimy, scaly, spawning, slavering, acidic spitting, all consuming hives of ever evolving creatures, bio engineered to consume. Everything! People? Consumed! Fauna? Consumed! Flora? Consumed! Oceans? Consumed! Mineral deposits? Consumed!!!!!!! Entire planets are devoured leaving nothing but a cold, rocky husk. We might be willing to coexist with Abhumans, like Space Marines, Navigators, cyborg Tech Priests, Ogryns, Ratlings, Squats and even some breeds of Beastmen. But these creatures have either evolved naturally from humans without the influence of Chaos, or - in the case of Astartes and Tech Priests - been created through the wisdom of The God Emperor of Man or enhanced through the carefully protected - and slightly - lost art of science. These beings are aspects of humanity. Filthy xenos, heretics and chaos mutants and daemons have nothing but malevolent ill will towards the Imperium and will never cease their terror until we are destroyed.
"Tau are just as oppressive" Yeaaaaah, if I must live under an oppressive regime I might prefere one that is not brutal. Basically, Tau are just like the Imperium minus the fact that they are brutal as heck and plus the fact that these guys, by nature, do not empower the malignant sides of Chaos (Humankind feeds Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh by any action they take to fight it back. I remind you guys that Chaos was given birth truely because of the War In Heaven) It is because of the fear and ignorance in the Immaterium and warp itself that many people do not understand that no one will ever be able to defeat it. Necron may be merely able to "push it back" but I doubt they could premanantly destroy the Chaos Gods. To fight Chaos is to empower it, it is only by spreading calm, knowledge and peace that the warp may return to a more normal and passive form, just like before the War In Heaven
For only in death does duty end. The realms of chaos where emotions create hellscape is always hard to explain in a short period of time you did quite well though.
