Repairing stripped fiberglass lag bolt holes on our 2006 Meridian 341 transom door using Marinetex.
Our transom door railing became loose and tightening the bolt no longer helped. Marine Tex has specific instructions for repairing stripped bolt holes which is featured in this video. This method can be used to repair various loose fasteners in fiberglass, wood, metal and more. Enjoy!

I’ve been using Marine Tex for years for everything! But, I mix up small batches with a 5>1 ratio, 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener. So, you can mix very small batches and the jar will last a long time (for small fixes like your lag bolt here!) Nice and clear video, thanks.

Nice video. Love this stuff! I actually knew the man who originally invented and produced Marine Tex and worked summers in their factory in Chelsea MA when I was young.

We can use some of this on our boat. We have a loose rain on the bridge. Definitely going to give this a shot this spring.

I think if you chopped up some fiber like a 1/2 long and mix real good then add harder and mix really good and I have done this many times to fix striped out lag bolts in wood. And have got fiber glass and resin and do the same thing and works great .

Don't use carboard it soaks up to much of the hardener.

Next time don't mix on cardboard... it will absorb any type of liquid hardener and cream hardeners which can throw off your mix ratio

Roger that. Didn’t think of it at the time. Better to use a waxed paper plate or plastic.

Can you buff and polish marine tex?

The white marine tex has a surprisingly glossy and smooth finish when dry. It can be sanded and shaped like fiberglass so I believe so.

Holy waste of an expensive product. 1/10th of the bottle would have been plenty.
