My dad was a WWII combat Marine. He was the kindest, most gentlemanly man I knew until you posed a threat to someone he loved. Then he turned into a ninja. From my earliest memories till the end of his life, I feared nothing when I was with him. Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper fi dad, I miss you every day. Till we meet again ❤❤❤❤
Remember marines are bred from other marines. I tell my daughters this all the time. I went to boot camp for about 4 months and came out a Marine. You girls have your whole lives with me, a Marine, being taught everything I can possibly teach. IF YOURE THE CHILD OF A MARINE YOU ARE RAISED A MARINE. They love that thought and they use it as motivation. My youngest literally told me the other day(5) her night light went off but it didn't bother her cause she's a mini marine. 😂 much love to you and your father!
My dad also was a WWII vet in the Pacific. He kept a loaded shotgun and machete under the couch all the time. I was never afraid at home. One time a car pulled up to out fence and my little dog was beside it, a guy got out of the car, my mom saw him, yelled for my dad, dad grabbed the shotgun and ran out into the yard---you never saw anyone run to fast and take off. WWII vets didn't take anything from anybody!
The fact that his employees were willing to help him says a lot about him. When you respect and value the people that work for you and see them as your equals, they will be willing to put their own safety at risk to help you.
Many of the people who come here from other countries came from a very different culture than the ugga-mugga gangsta culture here in the US. They have family values and have respect for others. In the US people would either look the other way or pull out their phone to make a you-tube video.

As a veteran myself (Army) I’m always staying vigilant,that’s including while driving,walking,sitting and waiting. The danger is always there. It’s called situational awareness. I’m also a long haul trucker. I had altercations with individuals seeking an easy target. One incident occurred while I was washing my windshield at the Flying J truck stop in Salt Lake City, UT. He was a middle aged Caucasian man who brandished a knife and attempted to stab me because I ignored all his racial slurs towards me. I’m not an average Asian man, My height is 6 foot 5, 197 pounds. The individual was taller and bigger than me. As soon as I noticed the knife in his hand lunging towards me I responded with a squeegee sticks hitting his throat that caused him to lose his breath for a few minutes. Than I knocked the knife off his hand. I was able to subdued him. Within minutes the police arrived because the truck stops employees had called the police. My advice to everyone is to always be aware of your surroundings and the situation. I’m glad that this Marine veteran was okay and thank you to all those land scape workers who came to his help.
I live in the Pocono mts in Pennsylvania and crime in almost non exist. The last "big crime" was a local grocery store that was robbed at gunpoint. Another point worth mentioning, almost everyone has gun or a permit to carry. Believe me, that is probably the greatest factor in keeping peace where I live.
My dad RIP was any veteran.. he always talked about worse case scenarios I do too.... If am check out side before I go out looking around for wild animals and locking doors like it's my religion. I talk to my grand kids the same way too

So glad the dad and everyone else is OK and the landscaping crew jumped in to help. Something that struck me is the fact these men had been following them after church and then to Home Depot. I hope everyone will keep an eye out for this type of thing. It's not expected but it's just something to be aware of so be very alert as thieves are getting bolder. I had a car follow me off the freeway once. I exited, drove through a shopping center and it followed me through, then around a couple of random corners, at which point I knew I was being followed...so I drove right to the police station. It’s a tiny proportion of them overall but you just can’t ignore it anymore. We need more minorities standing up to them. The data is in. If America is so racist, why are Arabs, Indians, Caribbeans and Africans thriving here yet native born persons of colour just can’t shake this poor culture? It matters. @Not Expat Joe 6 years in vietnam? so you haven't experienced the oc spray they have NOW have you? the gas chamber is NOT voluntary. It's something every marine has to go through at least twice in their career. iirc, it's something you need to do once a year, just like the rifle test, but I could be wrong because it's been a while. Imo, the gas chamber cannot be compared to OC spray, because they're filling the entire chamber with the chemicals and let you breath it in, while an OC spray directly to the face is going to affect you a lot differently. Only military police go through the actual OC spray on top of the gas chamber because it's part of the process to earn their certification to use OC spray on duty. So unless this gentleman was once a military police, he's probably only experienced the gas chamber.
I bet him responding to pepper spray with a right hook and then chasing the guys down unphased by the pepper spray is what caught them off guard. Or the landscapers
