Took mine out for spin yesterday. First run out perfect. Second run out it kept cutting out. Wait a while starts stoos before you can gain any ground from tide coming abd pushing me into the main stream and up river. Realised I'm to far from land better row in.. had 300 hundred metres to go first yCht came between myself and the land the wake pushed me back out losing the ground I had gained with rowing then second attempt two yachts in a line done same thing was way out up a fast pushing current and a klm off from land. Third attempt a motor launch done same thing pushing me once again. Now I'm 68 my wife with me 62. So that's a lot of rowing for our age and heart condition.. fortunately someone phoned the ferry boat man who so kindly came to us and towed us back to exhausted safety. A kind thank you to the harbour ferry man. And the person who phoned in . Thank you. Although I had tested this engine perhaps just a fluke. But I will after watching your video see if I have same problem with my own carburettor. Thank you too for the insite of your video. Regards Pastor Robert.

Excellent video! One minor comment. Tried to start my 3.5 Nissan (same carb), which had been properly(?) stored for 20+ years. Carb cleaner alone wouldn’t do the trick. Removed the bowl, relatively clean but main needle valve was lying in the bowl? While you removed and cleaned bowl, float and lever, you made no mention of removing/ cleaning this part? Having never disassembled a carburetor, the loose needle valve prompted me to go to RU-vid for help. Your video was the best I could find, despite minor oversight. Between your video and parts catalog isometric dwg, I figured it out! Zero parts required, just some carburetor cleaner. And mine started in about 4-5 pulls! Now good for years, thank you! P.S. my fuel tank was cracked at valve, bush fixed that, only to crack it while placing my hand on the tank while pull starting. Completely dried out. Now that it runs perfectly, no issue in ordering a replacement tank for a 30yr old motor😉.

Brilliant ....... there was a whole 'coral reef' living in the bottom of the carb. 🍷🍺👍🏼

Yup pat yourself on the back.My 2.5hp sat around for 15yrs from brand new.Salt water used for 10mins.prior to storing.Did the same but not as messy.Your seem to be taking o Abit of air bc abit lumpy at idle.maybe fuel line or shut off valve,has o ring inside.also when you took carb off I didn't notice o ring there.Over all yes job well done.plain simple english.However had to look up raspberry.lol. Boaty from New Zealand.

when you open the fuel bowel, you can see there are three holes at the top cover (at 12:51 in the video). The one with brass liner is the fuel inlet, what are the other two? In my case, one of the other two is blocked and I don't know if it should be through.

Great video, thank you. Just a quick question as I am in the process of cleaning the carb on my 3.3hp. I could not see an O ring in your video? I used carb cleaner on the carb and I think it has swelled the O ring. My question is, do I need the O ring?

Mark, this carburettor is identical to the one on my Johnson 2.5 outboard. My needle has separated from the float arm, and as a result it keeps falling out into the bottom of the chamber. Are replacement needles easy to come by?

squeeze the arms in to secure needle

I don't wanna pull it 50 times, the water amount is not enough. The brass horseshoe is upside down. The rubber ring is missing.

@@MrMeltedwellies Stripped mine down. Didn't really find anything. Took jets out. Put it back together. It's fine now. I must have disturbed whatever was causing the problem. I'll use Aspen alkylate fuel from now on. No more junk petrol to gunk things up

Show the float height would be helpful, ive watched about 4 vids similar and still no one shows float height!
@MrMeltedwellies
@MrMeltedwellies Год назад
Not sure what you mean about float height ,when the fuel is in the float bowl the float rises and pushes the float needle up to shut of the fuel when the fuel drops the needle lets more fuel in you cant really adjust the float
@allaurence1092
@allaurence1092 Год назад
@@MrMeltedwellies you adjust the float height by bending the tabs on the metal hinge . The float height is the measurement of the float from the carburetor body for the distance of where the fuel cut of point is, if the float height is wrong it effects the running greatly

Shouldnt take more than 3 pulls.
