For whatever reason, the Phillies peaked too early this year. In the past, they struggled and had guys out with injuries and ended up in a wild card spot behind the Braves only to get hot in post season up until the NLCS or lose the WS. Or who knows, maybe they are resting guys themselves and will make a final push in mid-Sep.
More so the Phillies have been terrible since the all star break. The Dodgers have been pretty mediocre if we’re being honest and the padres and diamondbacks are right there behind them
@@Civ5forlife-td7hy Stats indicate that he only has 3 errors for the 40+ games he’s played this season. I believe giving him a pass the first game back after a long, long absence wouldn’t be too far out of line.
The division standings and the league standings are becoming blurred. Right now, the Padres are only 3 games out in the West but the Dodgers are the top seed in the NL.
I normally don't like to play this card, but wow the Umpire was ATROCIOUS this game. Heyward's pinch hit HR felt like such a satisfying middle finger to the Ump, so glad the Blue Crew took care of business!
Some of the worst umpiring I’ve seen in a minute. I counted 6 horrible miscalls at the plate. Then those replay reviews were bad as well. Rivas was safe in the top of eighth sliding home and that mariners guy was caught sleeping on first and they still called him safe.
Nice win, well done guys. Awesome to have Edman in there, Muncy back, and MAN do I love that Heyward home run in the 8th. Love the way that dude swings the bat
You can't have too much lumber in the Playoffs. Even if Goatani, Mookie, and Freddie are struggling. Pitched well and pitched around. Teoscar, Chunky Funky Monkey Man Muncy, and Gavin no longer Sux can go yard ,or get the big hit.
Oh you mean Gavin no longer Sux can hit but still can't field? He's been doing better and that was needed, just as Pages who once was doing ok isn't on the roster anymore. Max is still Mad. But the starting pitching is still any man's game. Shoutout to the bullpen! An issue is we don't score early or take leads often. Trying to play comeback ball will hurt in the playoffs.
I'd like to believe that, during that failed Rivas steal of homebase, Will Smith was quick to throw the ball right back to home after he was alerted by the fans in the first row, especially the woman who immediately lifted her arm and pointed as Rivas began to steal the base. Those fans are heroes!
@@jritts Hahaha. Not where I was going, but fair enough. I was not aware that the fans made Smith realize what was going on behind him instead of doing his job, so appreciate you setting me straight. Even more amazing is that the pitcher knew to cover home base for a possible play because of these same "heroic" fans. Thank heaven for the heroic fans or the players would be lost. But I'm sure @HappyAmerican certainly thinks you're a hero for this
@@Ekim21144Right😂 its as if professional baseball players wouldn’t know what to do if the fans didn’t point out that someone would obviously steal home base when the ball gets behind a catcher for that long. Thanks goodness for the fans
Jason Hayward is now a DFA. I'm shocked!!! 2016 World Series he was there. What he said to the entire team during the rain delay in the seventh and final game vs the Indians (now the Guardians): ......... 'Look. We have to forget what has happened so far in this game. It's over. We're still the best team in the majors. Whatever happens next, let's go out there and win!" The US newspapers praised Heyward for inspiring and encouraging the team with his mouth, even though he couldn't contribute with the bat. The Chicago Cubs became the first team to win the world championship in 108 years. Jason, thank you for everything 💦.
I think Mookie was safe on the slide home in the 7th inning after Teoscar’s base hit to right, and it sure looked to me like Rivas beat the tag by Hudson at home in the 9th inning. Let’s go DODGERS 2024 !!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️ ROGER, The LOS ANGELES DODGER
Othani le fue muy bien en esta serie pero thioscar siempre batea y mookie regreso electrico y max muncy esta destacando y frediee es decisivo todo parece estar muy bien si las cosas siguen asi los vemos en postemporada❤❤❤
3 runs over only 4 innings for Buehler against one of the worst offensive teams in MLB. It’s hard to see how he can get a spot on the postseason roster.
Along with the superstars, Shotime, Teoscar, Mookie, Freeman, now Edman’s here, Lux balling, Kershaw and Muncy back, watch out, Dodgers sprinting to the finish line for the best record in baseball!
Yes, I agree; he was SAFE at home. However his run really didn’t matter in that instance because the Mariners were down by 3 runs in the 9th inning. ⚾️⚾️⚾️ ROGER, The LOS ANGELES DODGER
What a game! Unfortunately Buehler, Miller and Grove will not make the playoff roster. Glasnow, Stone, Kershaw, Yamamoto and Flaherty will. I would take Knack over the other three as well.
Sometimes you just have to play small ball. When the other pitcher's sharp, shorten up the stroke and load up on hits and cutdown the swings and misses. Tonight they did exactly what they had to do to win a BIG GAME! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
man i keep waiting on buehler and i'm trying to hold out hope. i need him to start stepping up. he started with two outs and has struggled to get out of the inning. he did ok after that but i'm worried about buehler.
Nice to see Max back! Just need Yamamoto! Everyone getting healthy at the right time! I'm a life time Angels fan btw that's thinking of switching. It's hopeless with Moreno and not resigning or even trying Ohtani was it for me.
Dodgers finally found some left side defense in Edman. Now if Roberts would set up his lineup so he doesn't have his best XBH hitter batting leadoff they might not have to scrap to win games. 🤦♂
