If the game is 2D, he can breathe forever. If the game is 3D, he can’t.

But then there’s 3D world And Land and in each game he can hold his breath for a different amount of time, it’s just really weird 😭

I think you should be able to breathe underwater forever, just put a scubadiving suit sprite on Mario when he is under.
