SML was definitely a roller coaster of a RU-vid channel. The first videos were made in 2007, and the only people who made the videos were Logan and his older brother, Lance. SML originally gained a lot of attention from the late 2000’s to the early 2010’s for filming an adventure-based series with all of his characters called ‘Mario and Luigi’s Stupid and Dumb Adventures’. In fact, for the longest time, the first episode of that series was the most viewed video of the channel. Episodes of that series would come out alongside his normal skit videos. The series kept going until about 2012, when Logan started having health problems that led to him needing a surgery, and he would “end” the series in a way so that a time loop would keep the series going forever, in case Logan died from his surgery. Of course, Logan would survive, and by the mid-2010’s he would continue uploading Mario plush content that began utilizing formulas and characters that most people are familiar with today (Bowser Jr., Chef Pee-Pee, etc.) Jeffy came into the picture in 2016, and I personally saw this as the beginning of the downfall of the channel. Up until the introduction of Jeffy, SML still only had less than 500,000 subscribers, and Jeffy was the character that suddenly shot the channel into widespread popularity. They would reach 1,000,000 subscribers by 2017, then another million in the next several months, and so on. The most viewed video on the channel became ‘Jeffy the Rapper’ which, despite having Jeffy say an uncensored hard ‘R’ at one point in the video, gained over 60,000,000 views! Many people think the fame got to Logan a little bit, which led to him making a bunch of controversial creative decisions, a bunch of stupid drama regarding the other cast members and the mainstream media, and so on. Many old fans, like myself, felt like Logan abandoned a lot of what they wanted within the channel in favor of entertaining a bunch of brain dead 9 year olds obsessed with Jeffy. Throughout the late 2010’s, SML constantly had to move to secondary accounts since the one before would get completely demonetized from crude humor and/or copyright infringements. Nintendo suing them was pretty much the final nail in the coffin, and now they have to resort to using these weird, human puppet versions of all of the Mario characters with some of their names changed. They’re still popular, but it’s safe to say that they have become completely unrecognizable from what they used to do. Despite all of this, there’s no denying that SML was, and will always be, one of the main Mario plush channels that inspired many kids on RU-vid like myself to use their imagination and create their own stories with their own plushies, and I think that’s a wonderful thing.
You said it, man! Despite his mistakes, he's one of the reasons why I got into plush skits in the first place (okay, sure, there were goomzilla, Mario Plush Forever, SuperMario134, and a few others as well), I'm even planning of developing my own plush/puppet series (inspired by shows like Animaniacs and TAWOG) with animation. Still sad that SML has since went down the drain, but I'm glad I grew up with the classic episodes as well as the Junior episodes.
I remember hearing about SML way back in middle school. Though, I never really watched his videos. I was more of a Stachebros kind of guy. The charm and quality of those videos were great and steadily improved over the years. Plus, whenever Stachebros made a video, he would deliberately position his camera away from his hands so they were not visible in the video. Top notch stuff imo. I highly recommend it if you’re interested 😊

As a PlushTuber myself, (who’s been here from the VERY beginning) I love the concept of the videos we create and the creativity we bring to life. It’s a shame that SML seems to be the face of our community as he’s the most controversial. Since he was forced to get rid of all Nintendo references in his videos, it kinda separates him from the rest of us. I hope that the many talented plush creators can rise up in popular, which seems to be happening, and can give the community a better reputation. Great video btw your plush video was great, Conner! Yeah, SML is definitely Family Guy with Plushes and Puppets. Even if I'm not as big of a fan anymore, I have to respect how much risks Logan took with his content, even if some of the dark humor and characters can be quite overwhelming. (Looking at You Jeffy and Black Yoshi)
I have been watching Super Mario Logan ever since they uploaded their very first "Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures" video. Also if you want to know Nintendo had over a decade to send them a cease and desist letter yet they apparently decided that the time they did it would be the right time.
I actually first got into SML when I watched the old video, "Yoshi Takes Mario to McDonald's"... heh, heh, yeah... I had a weird childhood. But anyways, Nintendo sent the cease and desist letter most likely due to the channel's controversies and during the time it had nine million subscribers.

As an autistic and gay person, when Jeffy first came out, I still didn’t like it. I felt like I was trapped in to the videos, I was addicted. I didn’t even pay attention to the stereotypes until I was older and found it racist. I was seriously addicted to this channel, but the good side came along. And now I am a hater.
It's so upsetting to see a channel like SuperMarioLogan that's so nostalgic to me end up in the state that it's in. The RU-vid equivalent of The Simpsons.
I’ve been watching Logan since 2014. I agree that his history as a RU-vidr is probably the most interesting and messed up history of all time. It’s sad that his original channels got deleted. Luckily, I have all the original videos that were deleted for everyone to watch on my channel if they haven’t seen him before and want to give it a watch. There’s also his new channel, but warning if you watch that channel, there’s no more Nintendo stuff at all. It’s just the original characters he has.
I remember watching a majority of Mario plush videos when I was a kid, and these inspire me to make my own content even though I won't go this far like SML.

So I am a former Mario Plush content creator myself, and I have to admit _in my opinion_ that I did not appreciate how Logan and his “team” handled the SML brand. It was all influenced by Jeffy and his fanbase they created. Thus resulting in quantity over quality of his videos.
I mean, the fact that Logan frequently put Jeffy in front of everyone in the show, despite being called Super"Mario"Logan and Jeffy isn't even a Mario nor Nintendo character in any way, and I find that a bit strange and ironic. Yes, okay, I know there's non-Nintendo characters in the show, but they don't seem to be hogging as much focus like Jeffy does. This is also noticable that Mario has been turned into a scapegoat and a punching bag in most episodes that star him, even when it's sometimes undeserved... And it's especially due to the channel being forced to stop using Nintendo characters all together and just defeats the original purpose of the channel.
I remeber when Machinima used to have a series called "Mario Plush Forever." I was really high quality and I'd say was one of the first examples of Plush videoes using crude comedy. Nodayds you can view the whole series on RU-vid, but the creator has moved onto other projects.

i had joy in Conner's Plush Scenes than anything Logan tries to make in his new videos like i hate how every characters never changed 1. Junior and Joseph still bullies Cody with no Karma 2. Jeffy is 17 and still isn't mature (think about how Mario/Malvin will do if he acts bad when hes 18) 3. Sml Endings are usally stupid
I was working at a courthouse and while I was doing background checks, I heard an SML video being played. I looked over and saw it was a lil boy watching it on a phone. I looked over to the mom and thought “you sure you want him watching that”
I have been a fan of sml since like 2013 and I still keep up with the videos but it's been around since 2007. I personally don't think the hand being visible in the sml videos takes away from the series much since it's for the most part a comedy series. I know a lot more about the channel than is...necessary but this video should have just been titled supermariologan or something. I don't mean to be rude but you only covered sml and it didn't feel very well researched. But I don't blame you for not wanting to do a 2 hour long sml history video but I feel like you could have shared a breif but complete story and had all of the facts and still kept it pretty short. I have noticed a lot of content on him in the last year after the cease and desist letter which has felt weird because despite him having nearly 10 million subscribers at some point never really got covered deeply until recently. Nice video and I liked the plush skit at the end 👍
I used to watch Goomzilla's videos from 2011 to 2016 because it was the only plush channel I knew about. From 2017 to 2019 I stopped watching because I was too busy working on my own stuff and now I occasionally watch some videos but nobody seems to post the kind of content I am searching for. We can't deny that they put effort into their videos though. When I first saw SML's content I was surprised to see such a big channel but disappointed because it's still not the content I would watch. I think the most interesting part of Goomzilla's videos were the immersive settings which made the videos much more interesting to watch, it gave a very unique vibe you could only get from watching their videos.
I've been watching SML since 2012, and it feels so strange to he him starting to get recognition from other RU-vidrs like this, he really has come a long way
I've been watching SML since I was 12, this was one of the many things that kept me and a few of my friends laughing. I'm 18 now and all though I think the videos have fallen off a bit it still gets a good few laughs outta me for the most part 👍 *can't say the same for family guy*
I never watched Logan. However, I watched BigYoshiFan back then. He does not do them much anymore,since he is focusing on something bigger. That was my intro to RU-vid, pretty much.
Former Plushtber here. This area of content creation was pretty big with many creative people, some I was close buds with in the past like SuperMario134 and the folks on MarioPlushGang are some great examples. It was about just having fun and making creative videos, but over the years, it was crazy to see Logan go from 20K subs to a million in like a little under 5 years. Who knew a plush channel would blow up like that?! I am personally not a fan anymore of his content (i used to be) but I hope when it comes to content that if he wishes to continue that he doesn't cause anymore controversy. SML started in the early 2000s when Logan was just a kid and as he matured so did his videos and then NINTENDO dropped a law suit so they could no longer use NINTENDO characters and they were forced to delete all there old videos 😭😫

While not being a fan since the beginning, I do enjoy the older SML videos much more than most newer ones. 2014 and below in my opinion was the best era for SML. Back then it seemed like Logan cared more about his content and I do believe that plush videos can be for everyone if you know what your doing. It’s like Spongebob and how the show appealed to all ages, and as a plush-tuber myself, I always try to make my videos for everyone. Thing is, when I started, I kind of based my whole series off of the golden era of SML and while yes, I do believe that was the best era for SML, I wish I wouldn’t have based my whole series off of it. I focused too much on trying to bring back the golden era that I forgot that it’s my channel and not Logan’s.
As someone who's related to someone with disabilities, me and my family always found Jeffy to be a horrible stereotype. Along with the other characters in this show. There was absolutely nothing redeemable about Logan or his content. He deserved what he got.

Logan is the main reason I started RU-vid back in 2009. I enjoyed making plush videos but sadly I started to view them as cringe. (I was a edgy teenager trying to fit in)
Both SML and Cute Mario Bros had left a huge spot of love for so long, maybe with me just having that sick sense of humor in general but having the mental capacity to not go share it like a little kid. And yeah it does suck that a lot of that old content got so much backlash because of a CERTAIN RU-vidR WHO WENT TO JAPAN- and god knows what else. I do understand both sides for their reasoning but lets be real, both sides are to blame. Parents are too neglectful and don’t monitor their kids’ content and know whats right, and only resort to Karen it up and complain. Those higher ups are the same. They just suck it up and blame the creators to keep a business going. And knowing the poor, POOOR decisions other famous people had been discovered doing and for some god awful reason only encouraging it on the internet and somehow not many bat an eye to it except the people who care about their content and not just in ignorance of business or whatever. As a plushtuber myself i will admit SML was my main inspiration, my friend introduced me to him and i originally made a series using mario and sonic figures called RJNL studios (which is now lost media) because the only mario plush i had was a koopa, in 2017 i finally got mario and luigi and made a few test videos (which are now lost) until i decided to start things off by making videos about wario and waluigi
I’ve never heard of super Mario, Logan but I do know are RU-vidr similar to this guy except his channel is actually family friendly named super Mario Richie and he actually has 4 different channels! 1: his main channel 2: his gaming channel 3: a channel for more mature audiences, telling deep stories 4: his final channel, which is more of a behind the scenes but the crazy thing is actually managed to buy the couch that was shown in the videos of SML.
At first with SML, I didn't watch them much, them I started watching them more, then they switched to humans which I wasn't sure since they were being too skeptical at the time, but then after a bit they got better again. Also side note/fun fact, they got away with the black jokes cause they did have some characters voiced by a black guy like bowser, chef peepee and... Charleyyy, so he was probably just fine with this sort of stuff. :P (It isn't like they straight up said the n-word)

The funny thing is that I have an Autism Diagnosis and so I use to go sped classes. Multiple different (usually loopier) people loved SML, but to see one of the main characters literally mock them is golden to me.
I remember the Ways to Kill Yoshi video and seeing people trying to make their own, so a lot of "Ways to Kill Mario/Toad/Luigi/Really any game character" were around People really were aggressive lmao
I used to watch Mario and Luigis stupid and dumb adventures, when SML was like a Middle Schooler doing dumb videos with plush toys I stopped watching around the end of Season 2 Its so sad to see what it is now
I remember growing up on sml and it made me into the person today. There were some other channels out there that I also watched as well. There was this one that I forgot the name of but it was even lesser quality than sml, was made by some british kid, and had minecraft characters instead of nintendo characters. Bowser and Bowser junior were replaced with creepers, and they literally just stole chef peepee from sml but renamed him into chef peanut, and made him the exact same character (how original). There were other characters too like an enderman, a zombie with a pet angry bird, and an oceolot who would work at freddy fazbear's pizza, starring in a fnaf spinoff series by that channel. There was this other channel called pikmin jake, or Minjak, which I tried to get into when I was a kid but I think I was too young for it, so I didn't watch it that much. Minjak was more of an action sci fi thriller themed plush channel that had character development, lore, worldbuilding, and all that juicy stuff which I didn't care for when I was 8. It was a super bizarre crossover with Pikmin, Bionicle, Sailor moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and some other things. I wanted to get back into that channel years later thinking it would be some super cool action sci fi anime, but then I realized that the videos themeselves were super slow, boring, and confusing. Lastly was an angry birds plush channel called superugly18. Unlike most plush channels, superugly18 stays direct to the source material, and his videos felt like they actually belonged in the angry birds universe. Like it felt like it could be a real angry birds tv series. I don't remember much other than there was an episode where the pigs kidnapped a resort owner, and then the angry birds saved him so he thanked them by letting them stay at his resort. Then he gave one of the birds a drink but he accidentaly poisined him so they went out into the woods to find an antidote and get chased by a giant spider. And it turns out they found some sort of holy healing device called a sun drop.
