Cool thing is that Yoshi is built to be the better balanced golfer OVERALL here whereas Mario is the better DRAW golfer. You can beat essentially every character once you unlock Yoshi. He's REALLY THAT GOOD in the game but you really need to understand the tactics of usage of each drive, iron and putt alongside the weather, wind, terrain, etc. This is an example of a well-built technical game AND ITS A MARIO GAME (That's what always impressed me as a kid & it still does to this day since I have a N64 & STILL own this game)
Another thing to observe... each CPU (from Harry onwards) perform almost flawlessly on Par 4's but on Par 5 they tend to make more mistakes than Par 3's. 3 is Average, Par 4 is Above Average & Par 5 is almost Below Average. Mario is the ONLY Golfer (if my memory hasn't failed me) that uses the POWER shots the least. The POWER "abuser" is Wario
Who's idea was it to make Mario unlockable in a Mario game...and as the SIXTH character? That's like making Super Smash Bros 6 and only third-party video game characters are playable from the start; all first-/second-party Nintendo characters have to be unlocked, while the original 8 (Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus Aran, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox McCloud, and Pikachu) are later released as DLC-IN REVERSE ORDER (first Pikachu, next Fox, then, Kirby, then Yoshi, then Samus, then Link, then DK, and finally Mario). Though, to be fair, it would much easier to unlock all these characters in Smash than Mario Golf.
I was like 4 or 5 years old when I played this and I still remember how dumb I was, i didn't even know how to select a character/world. Instead I would just go through them all countless times despite my older siblings showing me how to do this and that.
All the characters past Wario were supposed to be wicked smart. By the looks of it you have to know EVRRYTHING about the clubs, angles, and you need to know your timing on the power/accuracy bar at the bottom
Fico triste, meu N64 queimou... 😭😭 sdds. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 64 World Driver Championship Mario Golf 64 Banjo - Tooie 64 entrr outros... Sdds, btf que da pra consertar
The rain slows puts way down and takes distance off of your shots. Try to figure you need 10-20 more yards of distance than normal with rain. Always keep track of the wind too
Just keep practicing. Save scum if you must. That’s what I did to unlock most of the characters. Is’s a bit cheap, but it’s also a good way to practice the holes without starting completely over.
@@Ckoz2829 yeah I kinda figured that out in the livestream 2 months ago but 2 months later however I got everyone except donkey Kong with the ring shot which I am not doing right now
@@Ckoz2829 yes u have to get all rings and depending on what par is if you hit more than the par u loose for example if it’s par 4 and I do over 4 shots I lose and have to restart the course
@@monkeydjustin6942 I just started and it’s pretty rough so far lol. On the bright side I got all the birdie medals tonight and unlocked metal Mario with an Eagle on the last hole! Just one more character to go!
There are a few things, practice on a course you really know well and practice with a character that you are comfortable using, Straight shooters are great for beginners and Fades are great too if you don't want a character whose shots are affected by the wind very much. Work on your short game, aka putting. And just get the hang of the back spin and top spin of the ball as it can help you as well as power shots. But the main thing is, you can't make mistakes because Mario will make you pay dearly for them. Beat him by putting and getting the ball close to the pin to make it easier to get a putt.
The ball is affected by the wind and you can move the ball with the Z button. Also it can be affected by the weather. This is a very detailed golf engine.
@@evanwilliams6406 You can play the same 18 hole course 5 times with the same character, and still see variations in the game play. That's a huge reason why I still play this game nearly 20 years later.
