@@rolando90s Well, sort of yes. My first Nintendo console was the Wii, but I do admire a lot of the GameCube’s library, and I have one memories of playing Kirby’s Air Ride while getting my hair cut, since they had a GameCube set up at the place I used to get that done.
@@goatresgoatres468 He’s referencing a theory made by Game Theory (or was it Lockstin & Gnoggin? Don’t remember exactly). It’s honestly not that great of a theory as Mario doesn’t really have much of a canon, except that most games are canon (except for a select few like probably _Hotel Mario_ and the works). It’s flawed and I don’t agree with the barely hypothesis, Bowser just chills sometimes. Even in the sports titles he still is oftentimes an antagonist.
@@lol-ih1tl Hey now, Mario 3D Land and 3D World had charm. But other than that, I agree with you. Mario Party games in that era just weren't fun anymore, New Super Mario Bros and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic series were getting stale, I can't recall having played a recent Mario game during those times with the exception of Mario Kart 8 and 3D Land/World. It wasn't till 2017 when Odyssey came out things started improving. The WiiU era was definitely not Nintendo's strongest point.
@@leahchristinawilliams488 I agree. They also seemed to be trying to go out of their way to flesh out the Mario character's personalities a lot more. Mario Strikers even wasn't afraid to let Mario and friends get out-of-character and turn a sport into serious business war territory, either.

Just thought I'd point out that at 1:20 Wario says "That's us" when he's looking at a banana peel. The voiceline comes from the opening Gamecube Mario Power Tennis cinematic where Wario and Waluigi see that they got disqualified from the tournament.
Yeah I noticed that too. For some reason Nintendo will spend tons of time and money on animation like this but refuse to record new lines for the characters. Strange

I'm gonna guess after seeing this that Mario Tennis Aces was an upgraded refresh of Ultra Smash meanwhile they had been working in this for a few years behind the scenes. The overall polish on this is feeling at a much higher level. That being said Aces is still good!

I mean, Bowser managed to lessen the explosion!)
I like how friendly Bowser and Mario's rivalry was here. They didn't trade any blows, they didn't try to sabotage each other's shots... They were just playing like normal people, trying to beat each other legitimately.
I love this intro. I this really makes me want a game that has a whole story mode with like 2-3 hours of CG cutscenes with everyone, mainly wario and waluigi

To be fair, they haven’t done that for a Mario sports game in a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. Also, Nintendo stopped announcing their company logos before the game startup since the Wii era, so it would make no sense for them to suddenly do it here.

Aw man I didn't realize how I missed the intro cinematics from the GCN era! So glad they brought them back, Wario & Waluigi get into the best shenanigans.
Pause at 1:08 and you'll see Mareach and Luaisy on the big screen on the left corner. I know it's been seen in the overview trailer but you get the idea.
The fact that Bowser is so freakishly strong that he can stop a rapidly rolling King Bob-omb without so much as being budged at all. This is reason 8437 Bowser is my favorite.
0:41 This exact sequence of looking back and forth is referencing Mario Power Tennis's opening cutscene and the fanfare that plays when Wario brings out his rocket is the same tune that plays when Wario does a Power Shot in Power Tennis. Also at 1:16 Power Tennis had a similar scene of Wario getting chased by a Chain Chomp. It's like Camelot knows full well that everyone enjoyed the CGI intros of the Gamecube era and I'm so here for it all

My mom bought me the game digital and I thought it was gonna be boring but I LOVE IT. Battle Golf is my favorite 🤩 Hopefully they add more maps for battle golf 👌❤️
Im happy that this intro has that old Mario sports intros from the gamecube/early Wii days feel to it. Really gives it a lot of charm and personality, especially when it comes Wario and Waluigi with their wicked schemes. Also I feel bad for Bowser in this since he's actually playing fair and wasn't even mad that his ball didn't go in the hole near the end.
