I didn’t expect Werner to be in this compilation haha! He’s in one of my favorite metal bands called “Aviations”. He’s awesome in it along with everyone else in the band as well.
I think this lick is really encouraging younger musicians (including myself) to start transcribing stuff, as well as learning how to put licks in context. As much as this lick may be some sort of curse, lmao, you really did a good job of bringing people together with this! 🙏
@@FloraSora Sure thing. You can find the full concert on this channel (but they are all mixed up...): ru-vid.com You can find the song (where the mario kart lick is played) in this section of the concert: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JB4Z-OcmJUs.html&ab_channel=JefferyKahn It is the second song (starts about 2:30)
@@MathuinSmith can't believe you were ballsy enough to pull that off in front of Wycliffe Gordon! I was in AVJE two years ago on keys when Steve Weist was conducting
@@gabrieldoon tbh I can't believe I had the guts either... kinda just came out the horn lol. And it's cool to see another AVJE alum here! I had loads of friends in that band as well as Jared Sims's band that year. I was 17th alto... we don't talk about my alto days haha
@@katebeanland8428 at least you learnt it, I'm planning on it but so far I only know the lick, haven't gotten dolphin shoals transcribed for French horn yet
I just got accepted for Ohio's All State jazz band, and I realized my growth as a jazz musician would've never really started without this stupid meme haha. LONG LIVE THE MARIO KART LICK (I am at like 12:29 btw lol)
My school did a virtual “arts fest” today and livestreamed it on YT, and my band teacher submitted my recording, which was a part of Dolphin Shoals on trumpet (and it had the lick of course.) The recording sounds kinda bad since it’s not really a performance, just me practicing. Then I think back to the original Mario Kart Lick video and I feel better lol
i want to tell my story, i start learning saxophone one year ago in a jazz school... just because i saw your channel and listen this lick and i wanted to play it , now im really in love with the instrument and also can play the lick (not at full speed yet), thank you for show us the secret of the universe. ARIGATO
This is my favorite lick and I still love yours the most. Probably because you worked so hard on it while I was upstairs from you in the dead of night. I super loved every minute of it!
yeah man...never even played the game but you inspired me to learn the lick all the same. it is killin'. The Andy E duo sounded like a bill frisell tune, and there was one that was like a louis cole vibe. Very cool!
Damn those people are insanely creative and talented! You should be proud of all the people you've inspired Nathan! :D Your subscribers are well deserved, I hope we can play together one day :)
