Time stamps are in the description to navigate to any specific record you would like to watch from May 2021's activity. This was by far one of the most awesome months for Mario Kart Wii time trial. What was your favorite record during this month? Absolute biggest of props as always to our talented playerbase with accomplishing all their goals on all tracks they play. I hope you all enjoy this one. See you all soon as we continue to catch up with the previous month's WR activity. ○ Connor's Stream: twitch.tv/connor4wr ○ Des' Stream: www.twitch.tv/des073 ○ Flare's Stream: www.twitch.tv/rainioscopy ○ Hunter's Stream: twitch.tv/winbag4 ○ JCool's Stream: twitch.tv/jcool114 ○ Jongwoo's Stream: twitch.tv/jongwoomkw ○ Kasey's RU-vid: ru-vid.com/show-UCgD2ZFZ1aWebIYIRjNDqN5Q ○ Logan's Stream: twitch.tv/logan_usa ○ Luke's Stream: twitch.tv/luke_gb ○ Zeke's RU-vid: ru-vid.com/show-UC2xwLrlnP8AhelqN9qc7Y2g ○ Mario Kart Wii Stream Directory on Twitch - www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Mario%20Kart%20Wii
@@Nao-ll7su thank you! Yeah as I mentioned I wasn’t too sure to my memory if that was the first time it happened in a record or not. Maybe we will finally see a push for that to be 3/3 in the future. Happy you’re enjoying the videos :)
Jongwoo has a Twitch (jongwoomkw) and RU-vid as well (m.ru-vid.com/show-UCoKuYnMPm42j5YjI2ap_gFw) Great video as always Nick, my favorite series on YT by far!! Keep up the amazing work my man
Always a treat to see these videos, and very surreal to be included in them. I really appreciate this series for highlighting the stories that go into these improvements, really adds a lot more depth beyond just seeing times go lower, and makes it all the more compelling to follow. Huge respect for making these, keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words, I am glad :) I love hearing the journey behind any time set, especially yours in the past few months as we have come to see covering your World Records now :) as you know as well with speedrunning, attaining the goal time/WR can be one thing at face value, but what we the players take away from the sacrifice and journey we went on sticks more when reflecting back on it all. Really happy to share everyone's own developments and surely makes it more compelling to continue following everyone's progress in the future!
@@NMeade I want to point out that at 22:11 it shows the mkw board, however it also shows that maple has had considerable time losses to make the record a 1.35. Is there any way you could not show that so it doesn't spoil it as much?
I only realised now how much time he takes into these vids. He interviews everyone, shows us ghosts of the current WR and older ghosts along that, and realises where they mess up, and now he also SLO-mo’s and rewinds the footage
Unbelievable how there were so many monumental world records this month, thank you for documenting all of these historic moments Nmeade let's hope this year only gets better!
Just wanted to say we all really appreciate the work that you put into these videos. I’m not sure if you’ve just been incredibly busy or lost motivation, but whatever it is just know that everyone here loves these and greatly appreciates every minute you put into these. Stay hydrated Nick :)
What a month that was: first No-Glitch WR using the wheel in almost 8 years, longest lasting WR being broken, Kasey's first WRs... Truly a month to remember!
Why is it that every Flounder Fest episode that I think to myself 'I wonder when the next World Record Review will be out' the next month of reviews videos comes out! Still, loving this series was the main reason that I found your channel keep it up!
Wait did you actually get to speak with Zeke and Jongwoo? That would’ve been awesome! It would be cool to hear them in an Nmeade video. Anyways great video as always!
Zeke’s story is awesome, I’m really looking forward to that standalone video! Also we really appreciate the effort you put into this - it really enhances the TT community in my opinion
this is one of my favourite series on yt. nick’s knowledge of and passion for the game and the sheer level of detail just make these videos so fascinating
I can't quite wrap my head around why this is, but something about these WR review videos is genuinely saddening to me. I think it might have something to do with the idea that despite there being so many people who enjoy Mario Kart time trials in any game (Wii is one of the more popular from what I can tell), you as a player will only ever gain recognition in this community if you're naturally a part of that game's top level, and I'm talking like, top 0.001% of players. Don't get me wrong. The people who devote themselves to practicing these games definitely deserve recognition. How could I not agree with this? But if you're a casual yet very hardcore fan like me who watches videos like this and always had childhood dreams of being considered a part of the Mario Kart community for whatever reason (no access to Internet for a long, slow learner, faulty controllers, etc.), you can't help but notice that the entry floor for actually being noticed is only ever getting further and further away. This is especially true for any people who find themselves so, so close to the top level, only to be passed up by people who always seem to steal spots in the Top 10 leaderboards.
Your video series contributes so much to the community and gives the people in MKWii more motivation to get more WRs, as well as inviting newcomers, as getting a WR would mean being featured here
Another video, another big comment, another thing to start reading! 6:34 although it seems like that’s when the pacelock ends, it’s actually the setup for the box clip itself. If you have a more favourable setup (and therefore a better clip) then you can save more time just in the air before you’ve even landed. 17:30 if you don't know what goes on here, when landing from the first zipper, you hit the very edge of the fence and get air off the second zipper in reverse, giving you extra boost that carries into the airtime of the second trick
I didn’t actually have much to say about this video, but these kinds of comments take a lot of effort and time to write so it would’ve super appreciated if you could check out my comment on the April review video, as that got drowned out due to me commenting well too late to gain attention. Appreciate the heart!
Nmeade should make his next video bounty on who can beat Vincent’s Wario’s Gold Mine no-glitch world record, as it’s arguably the most impressive world record currently
Could you explain how someone can have a cut of 4 or 9 milliseconds, when each frame takes roughly 1000/60 = 16.66 ms (as mkwii is 60 fps)? Does the game calculate more intermediary steps then it has frames?
basically on the frame you cross the finish line the game calcultates the distance between the finish line and vehicule depe ding on the speed to ge,erate a final time that goes down to 12 digits after the decimal point (if I'm not mistaken)
Nmeade, do you think its possible for Luke's gba bc3 record to be beat with gcn? I mean theoritically, but will gcn ever hold the no-glitch on bc3 again? I'd have to guess no.
The effort you put into these videos is clear. We appreciate the time spent preparing all the interviews, let alone making and editing the video itself. I cannot wait for the June vid!!
We started it again last weekend! Trying to get ahead before releasing them on YT to not be in the situation like last time where there was no activity to support the uploads
After improving my Moo Moo Meadows pb today from 1:20.110 to 1:19.557 and Mushroom Gorge pb from 1:49.697 to 1:48.042, it's nice to watch the world record review of May. After this gonna go right back to grinding MG for that 1:47. Loving the series Nick!
Hey Nick, I was time trialing BC3 and accidentally low tricked the ramp by the thowmps after the low jumps by clipping the side of the ramp and not getting any airtime. I wanted to know if you had any thoughts on this and if this could be used on any future runs.
If you lose any speed when you touch the wall of the ramp, it is slower. The only faster strat would be getting a full speed wall trick or hopping off the right side early
For a sec I was thinking how nmeade is slacking off on his wr review videos but then out of nowhere he uploads like 2 within a week. That's actually incredible and i have no idea how this man does it but i guess he just has his ways. Earns my respect for sure.
Very good question, I am not sure myself honestly. A TAS runner may know more than me - if a TAS runner happens to read this comment maybe they can jump in and share what the difference may be
The main time save on these tricks is from hopping on the first frame of touching the ramp to get the minimum height, but right tricks are also helpful here to utilize a little bit of side trick abuse. Since the trick direction faces you left, you can hold right during a right trick to move a little bit forward and down in the air since you move relative to the direction you are facing, and the back tire will touch the ground sooner than an up trick if you hold right. Additionally, landing from a right trick allows you to move right faster than a left or up trick here. All in all, the difference is slight, but you can save several ms on each trick if done properly.
