This man was unique! His approach and power are unmatched! There have been many Tenors, but not like him. We are gifted with these movies and performances…
Mario Lanza was the greatest tenor this country ever produced. Indeed, one of the greatest singers ANY COUNTRY EVER PRODUCED! Spectacular and such a tragic, young loss. So beautiful.
They only put on rubbish and repeats as you say not enough films like these he was magnificent what a voice I could listen all day and night so come on put more of these films on instead rubbish on now and constant repeats pay hood money to see constant rubbish.

there will never be another singer anywhere near as good as Mario Lanza was.The clutches of Hollywood was to destroy him, but he bounced back in Italy.. what a beautiful family he had, all so pretty and handsome. The worst thing too was his wife dying from a broken heart.4 children left with. o parents, now three of them have passed away too.Mario,s voice will go on forever.
The day after Mario died all 4 of his children came to school, Marymount, and as his eldest daughter's best friend (Colleen) I was surprised at this. The Lanzas lived in Via Bruxelles... In the villa built for Generale Badoglio.... Which was very close to where my family lived. Consequently, from 1957 to 1959 I went over many times to their villa and played with my schoolmate. I was totally unaware at the time that I would meet one of the most inspirational tenors of the era.... But I was only 9 years old! Both Betty and Mario seemed very loving parents and cared for their children very much. RIP Mario, Betty,Colleen, Damon and Mark. ELISSA.... you are a courageous lady. Fiona Finn

An unbelievable voice. I'm coming on 79 but years ago (definitely not now) I remember making love whilst listening to his voice many times. Tis only a memory now. Mores the pity .
Benny Hill The work of M. Lanza has long been recognized worldwide Maria Callas declared in 1973 in Giovanni Viglione: "Mario Lanza was the successor to Caruso, and my biggest regret is that I never had the opportunity to sing with the greatest voices I have ever heard" . Bass Nicola Moscona who recorded in 1950 with Mario Lanza under the direction of maestro Peter Herman Adler , the sextet from Lucia di Lammermoor for the film The Great Caruso , said at the end of the recording: "This is the largest tenor with which I have sung " . Placido Domingo said: "Mario Lanza was the most romantic lyric tenors. His voice had a dramatic impact. It is for me an absolute reference " . In an interview on French television December 12, 1984, Pavarotti said: "For me, the three greatest tenors of the world were, Caruso, Gigli and Lanza" The critic Charles Osborne wrote in a study entitled " The Art and Voice of Mario Lanza ": If he had lived elsewhere in Hollywood, where at another time, or both, Mario Lanza was a serious rival for Corelli or Gigli, or even Caruso. I heard over great opera houses and famous tenors, Nessun dorma ... and Di quella pira , much less well sung. " February 28, 2013, during his "Little Italy" concert at the Zenith in Pau, Roberto Alagna paid tribute to Great Mario Lanza , interpreting one of his unforgettable songs: The Loveliest Night Of The Year . Roberto Alagna said, "It is by seeing films like The Great Caruso , shot by superstar tenor Mario Lanza I took the virus of opera. " "If Mario Lanza had not existed, the modern world would never have known the existence of the Great Caruso" , liked to tell his students the Spanish tenor Alfredo Kraus in his master classes. Maestro Sir Antonio Pappano , artistic director of the Royal Opera in London, said in 2016, in an interview posted on RU-vid that can be seen by typing "Pappano we Lanza ' ' Lanza was not only A master of vocal technique, but without doubt also, with Caruso, the most famous and influential tenor. ursmue1937 GRAZIE GRAZIE per aver scritto tutte quelle cose su Mario Lanza alcune le sapevo... non tutte.
Depending on "country of family origin" Italian was learned in the home. Mario Lanza spoke fluent Italian in-real-life. And his singing in this is stellar quality and in perfect-pitch.
Aloha Mario Lanza !!!!!! You are an awesome tenor~~~sing so compassionately from your heart and soul~~~ I feel your emotions deeply !!!! Bravo !!! Your fan, me ke aloha pumehana, Robert S.J. Hu August 31, 2020. R. I. P. Mario Lanza ~~~~God's gift of song to the world !!!!
Yes great tenors but they never had the voice or the versatility of lanza. Jussi was the only who came closes but he still lacked excitment in his voice and was not a big voice
@@pepsiq210200 I like how people know nothing about singing go around talking about range. Every trained male singer have at least a good two octaves plus couple of notes. It's more about how you use it.
What sets Lanza apart from other Tenors was that when he sang, he sang like a kid who's just discovered how to ride a bike or do a back flip; he can't help but show off. He never held back; where most singers never give you 100%, he sang as if each note would be his last. Some of his covers are a bit over the top, as if he were on steroids. Check out his version of "Oh Holy Night". It sounds like it's being sung by a crazy man. Some opera buffs think that Lanza was overly emotional in his singing.
My nele é boa artista já sua MÃE TAMBÉM O ERA A TANTOS ANOS ATRÁS QUE EU VI ALGUNS FILMES COM SUA MÃE EU ERA UM JOVEM RAPAZ E VIA ESTES FILMES NA MINHA CIDADE ONDE EU ESTAVA TRABALHANDO E POR FIM ATÉ ABITEI JÁ SE VÊ NO MEU QUARTO PAZ A TODOS QUE ME AJUDARAM A TER AQUELE TRABALHO .
Some still claim that Lanza's voice was dependent on microphones. This despite ample testimony from people who heard him live and unmiked, who also knew a few things about operatic voices. I'm thinking especially of Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge, who heard Lanza in concert with piano accompaniment and sans microphone circa 1957 at the Albert Hall. Each was surprised by the size and volume of ML's instrument. Licia Albanese, who recorded "Dio ti giocondi" with Lanza, said his voice was "really big," if memory serves. I am quite convinced that Lanza's voice, at the very least, was as large, full and vibrant as Domingo's during Placido's prime.
