I remember when this game came out, everybody (including myself) had it. Today you have much more advanced paint and animation programs. But when this came out, to create your own art on your own tv with the snes was, quite mind blowing.

I remember when i was very young i was making a painting of ducks in a pond on this & i put a duck in the water & put blue over its feet & my mom asked why i did that & i said “because its feet are underwater so you cant see them” and she complimented me & said i was very creative. now like 15 years later i still remember how happy that made me lmao
I remember getting this game when my dad got a bonus at work in like 1998 and it was so good i loved it. My mum gave my snes and my games away to a charity shop when I was like 14. I think I need to have words with my mum. 🤔 I'm 30 and it only just occurred to me I never fucking consented to her giving my stuff away!
That is sad! I don't think copies of Mario Paint should be expensive, though. I don't know about US Copies, but when in doubt, just buy a Japanese one, Japanese SNES games tend to be cheap. I believe both versions are identical, anyway. You know it's not hard to get Japanese carts to work on US systems.

Oh man is it strange seeing MarioPaint with black bars. I’m used to playing it on my 4:3 CRT. And it’s even stranger as this is actually running in like 8:7 or something as it’s emulated. All the circles look like ovals!
The black bars in this case are because RU-vid's player is 16:9 regardless of the video format, so if it's smaller than that, it adds those bars to compensate for the missing space. I don't know about it being a different aspect ratio than 4:3, though, I think it was just the (terrible) codec's fault in this case. It does have a sort of advantage where the choppy quality sort of makes it look like I recorded it on a VHS tape, though, a bit?

They should've ported THIS to the 3DS, not Super Mario Meh-ker. Super Mario Maker is just commercial rubbish, Mario Paint is pure ART instead. MP is the true Mario creation tool, and doesn't require online to be perfect.
There was demand for a Mario level editor that didn't require you to resort to ROM hacking (some people don't like doing that, more power to them, really), so Mario Maker was made and it's why it's a big success. It's sad we didn't get Mario Paint on 3DS or Wii U, which kinda seems like missed potential, a bit, but maybe we could see it - or atleast something similar - on the Switch.
