Curiosity got the better of me.
Because I found the addresses responsible for which character you play as in this specific mode I thought it would be pretty humorous if all four Koopa Kids went against each other to see what would happen. The three colored ones don't seem to have kart models and either appear to randomize between other characters or don't show up at all. If the latter happens the game crashes if they attempt to move in any capacity. Luckily they always appear correctly in minigames, although their portraits don't always show up afterwards.
If anything, I'm at least glad someone finally ported this course to Mario Kart Wii.
