Fun fact: DJ Hallyboo is based off the host of Mario Party 8, DJ Ballyhoo. His voice lines are straight from him. He also had a living hat, who had his own name, Big Top. No one remembers them so it’s nice to see someone online giving them a shout-out
I really love this DJ Hallyboo's design, and how it's a parallel to MC Ballyhoo. First, he wears a tie while MC Ballyhoo wears a bow tie. Then, he has two teeth, that's two less than MC Ballyhoo. MC Ballyhoo's hat has big eyes and a tiny mouth, the DJ's hat has tiny eyee, and a big mouth. And finally, he's holding the mike in his left-hand, while Ballyhoo holds one with his right hand.
Imagine a TAS run, where they'd write "criminal" before it moves. Would the game just.. break? Or maybe a strategy where you'd write where the text is GOING to be
If you look deep into the code there is absolutely no evidence of victory screen against him. Likely using a Tas would immediately begin the “Refusal to power off” segment for both Pirating AND Cheating
I love how some of the untranslated text says: “Hudson - This is not necessary. It will extend the launch considerably.” I like to think all these piracy screens are made in-universe by one developer who really *really* hates piracy, and is making increasingly absurd countermeasures to it as the rest of the dev team is essentially begging them to stop.
Hudson refers to Hudsonsoft, the developers of Mario Party DS. The message was likely by a Nintendo employee telling them that the anti-piracy measure was unneeded, as an entire boss fight would extend the launch of the game by a long time
@@MezephelesArt i think it’s the other way around. nintendo had a large piracy problem in the ds era, so they probably decided to sneak in these anti piracy measures. in universe, of course.
If youre actually making a custom minigame, then youre an absolute madman. Like, it was already impressive that you made custom minigame explanations. Really good job!
Imagine... Wario and Waluigi STEAL the Omega Star (a legendary artifact that DJ Hallyboo found). And you play as Wario doing this except the word ‘criminal’ won’t move and Hallyboo will attack faster (and you can actually beat him)
Imagine if someone coded all of these and made an actual anti-piracy measure, that would be so good! (Except the emergency call one for obvious reasons)
They could still make the emergency call if it was a pre-recorded message and then sirens play in the DS, nothing else would happen but it would be convincing
i'm pretty sure this is all already coded joey is the type of person to do ROM hacks and not animations i see the white outline on luigi tho so it might be an animation and it might be a rom hack
@@cack The model animation came from the mini game “Hammer Chime”, wouldn’t surprise me if Joey just recorded gameplay and cut out Luigi. Actually now that I think about it, the two mini games share a lot in common o_0
The huge plot twist at the end of this anti piracy journey is gonna be that Joey actually made an entire Mario Party DS mod containing all of the content from these videos
read this as Vinesauce Vinny would do it: "HEY MARIO, I REACHED A SECRET BOSS!" "LUIGI, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? ARE YOU STILL PLAYING THAT MARIO PARTY DS PIRATED COPY?" "YES MARIO, BUT I CAN'T BEAT THE BOSS." "I DON'T KNOW LUIGI, MAYBE BECAUSE IT'S INCOMPLETE AND GLITCHED? DOESN'T THAT SOUND WEIRD TO YOU, LUIGI?" "A LITTLE, MARIO" "SO STOP PLAYING THAT GAME LUIGI, AND STOP DRESSING UP AS A PIRATE, IT'S NOT GONNA HELP YOU BEATING THIS STUPID THING!"
Eh More Like A Fanmade Emulator Game Where He Included Every Anti Piracy Screen That He Did In Every Video Included The Monty Mole Boss Fight And Emergency Call (Nintendo Anti Piracy Self Reporter)
DJ Hallyboo is the original form of the announcer from Mario Party 8. The Anti-Pirarcy measures in Mario Party DS were stopped and their developer fired because the self-reporter not only coerces the confession of the crime so it can't actually be used in court but the DISTIRBUTOR is the one that's liable for it not the person who bought the game, and Nintendo would be in serious legal trouble for clogging the 911 hotline. And of course, the majority of the features terrifying innocent children whose parents were duped. The DJ Hallyboo character was changed and renamed to MC Ballyhoo to spite the madman who made the Anti-Pirarcy measures as Hallyboo was their creation.
"i'm sorry. never again criminal." According to the game's code, an animation called "HallyHat_Smirk_1" will play once these apologies are written. The game doesn't have a definitive ending due to being unfinished, with the shaking of "criminal" being a failsafe in case the player somehow accesses the boss fight, purposefully making the player fail. There's no sign of a defeat animation for Hallyboo, likely because it's designed to be unwinnable.
Another thing no one’s talking about; that crash timing’s impact on the music is beautiful. Turning that note into a trill creates some beautiful anticipation
Though it's fabricated, it's not out of the realm of something Nintendo has done in their games! In the original Animal Crossing for GameCube, if you reset x amount of times, Resetti would force you to write an apology.
Oh my god I totally forgot about that but am remembering it happening to my dad now, he never saved animal crossing on GameCube lmfaooooo. I definitely remember that ??? 😭
and plus the monty mole fight didn't have any hearts, but to be fair, it was just a minigame where Joey didn't touch the game, and used some editing magic to make it look like a boss fight.
Okay what I love is the little details such as Luigi having a weird grainy white outline to indicate it being unfinished aswell as Hallyboo looking really low-quality in the minigame compared to his introduction Also would Hallyboo be related to Ballyhoo somehow? Edit: Just realized he doesnt really have a hand (His microphone is his hand) and his arms look like machinery, is he a robot? Even more so with his voicelines sounding like Ballyhoo's but robotic, like in 0:50 and in 1:21
Joey's anti-piracy content is becoming unironically really great now, dude made an actual custom minigame for a video and it's actually kinda cool also jeez the guy in this video does NOT know how to write on a DS

@@RealToogoodGuy Talking about that.. What if the pirated copy that we are seeing in these videos inside the lore, is of a little boy who was given a pirated version as a gift? now the worst thing is to think that a child is going through all this horror.
I've just come up with a small little theory: Joey is actually a Hudson dev that snatched a copy with the anti-piracy measures, which would explain why these don't appear on regular pirated copies of the game, they didn't make the cut. Joey was the one developing these anti-piracy measures (for unknown reasons) but Hudson was then approached by Nintendo about how these measures will delay the release of the game considerably, and to comply with the release date Hudson was forced to lay off Joey but he took one of the copies with him and is now uploading these videos to RU-vid
Congrats Joey! The fact this might be a custom minigame shows how much you care about the piracy at mario party ds, Because of you, lots of anti-piracy videos were made, something nobody ever talked that much, keep up the good work!
Why does this dude look like lumpy from happy tree Friends and Ferb had a baby together. Always wondered that and now the pose that he is in truly shows it.

Repost from the last video because now im even more sure from my theory : So I made some ressearches about the hex code in there is translated to : "HallyBoo" So I made some ressearches and found out that HallyBoo didnt existed. But BallyHoo did. BallyHoo was the host in Mario Party 8, released the same year (2007), mario party 8 being released nearly 6 months before Mario Party DS. Plus the design of the character in the video looks a lot like the design of BallyHoo, which is also an host. I have 2 theories ; 1- The character is simply BallyHoo just with a error in the hex code and some visual changes 2- HallyBoo is a "sibling" of BallyHoo, which is never mentionned but hosts Mario Party DS, while BallyHoo, the known one, is hosting Mario Party 8. That would explain the visual ressembles but not exactly, and the name ressemblance, and it would make more sense considering the very close release of both games. Sorry if it was too long, but thanks for reading that! Note : With that thumbmail, am even more sure of that theory : Just compare the guy in the thumbmail and BallyHoo. There are just way too many things in commun to not be coincdence EDIT : Waw apparently I was right! Niceeee! So I have a new info : when I translate the hex code it says : "watchdemon.jit", I searched that on Google but I found nothing. Literally, maybe its something on the dark net idk, but maybe "watch" (the detection of stolen copies) "demons" (the person playing the pirated copy) and jit, meaning just in time (maybe just in time before the pirate can have fun with his copy). Really idk about that one welp, thats to see...
How to win: Play the game as normal, but when the text "Criminal" appears, write Criminal in the bottom left corner of the paper, the text will fall into place and you will win.
halleyboo proceeds to say "While you may be smart, pirates aren't." and proceeds to move the text and a display in the bottom left of the bottom screen will say "Out of ink!" leaving you unable to write. jerk.
One part of the Japanese text on the tips says something about Hudson adding too much stuff just for anti-piracy, even Joey knows this is a lot of stuff and is including it in this “story” of sorts
It looks like MC Ballyhoo from Mario Party 8 but as if it were a beta design or his brother I love the unique render you have for him like other bosses in the game, it’s a very nice touch 0:29
DJ Hallyboo is a beta design. He looks so... wrong. Like, in the scary way. This is obviously supposed to be an early version of Hallyboo, but it comes off as uncanny, in my opinion. Pirates probably wouldn't be able to sleep after seeing him.
2021: Write out your apologies to sate Ballyhoo's bloodlust. Last word is impossible (or at least intended to be, without cheats) 2024: Boyfriend scribbles over the prompts, gets over 120% accuracy rating on the last word. Turns out that's the real strategy all along.
Imagine this, you hang out with your friends at the park to play Mario Party DS. The game crashes and this music plays ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-joRZn6qiDg0.html
@@weonguybunnyeon1170 the other players who had legit copy's would get a message: Oh no! It appears luigi was a criminal! don't party with pirates! *Game continues, luigi is cpu*
Hallyboo would request those that got it through download play to "Teach [Character Name] a lesson" and give them large shields (controlled by the touchscreen) to block the person writing the apologies. The person writing can quickly tap several times on the shields to break them, but they regenerate quickly. Eventually, the shields do get larger, as long as the person writing has written 7 apologies. (Based on one of the replies somewhere in the sea of comments)
The diddling of the piano at 1:25 reminds me of In The Final (M&L BiS) and the sequence of notes that gets abruptly cut short at 1:33 reminds me of Vs. Red (Pokemon HGSS)
Finally, the greatest mystery of my childhood has been solved. We found out who the host for this game was. Seriously, the game just having this voice but never showing who it actually always really bugged 10 year old me
These piracy screen are fantastic, at least I was like "dude seriously?", but after watching so many of them, this can actually be a great way to lower crimes. Also, I doubt you take ideas but one I had is that involves the minigame "Book Bash" (Kamek's boss minigame). With this Kamek will send Luigi down the hall, the message will come up saying he's a criminal, then when the minigame starts, there's nothing but insults and stuff like, "we don't play with thieves", "stealing ruins the fun", "I hope you enjoy being behind bars", just to name a few. Keep these up, these are amazing!
My theory is that throughout the anti-piracy screens, the host is making Luigi pay for his crimes, believing he was responsible for pirating the game. Luigi is trying to escape, only to be constantly stopped by the host.
The "Criminal" phase is probably winnable. The fight seems really forgiving when it comes to how accurate your tracing is so if you follow where it is at the start and try to imagine where it was after it starts moving, it the word will probably hit your writing while it's vibrating JUST well enough that it will count that.
Dj Hallyboo. Sounds familiar. Oh right. Dj Ballyhoo and Bigtop were the hosts of Mario Party 8. They even use the same voices lines. Great idea. Because Dj and Bigtop are already terrifying
This is a really amazing concept!! I love this so much and your anti piracy things you've made too! It actually motivated me to finally buy Mario Party again (not pirated lol) I really love this boss too!! It sounds and even looks like it'd be in the game!! Thank you 4 bringing us this creepy yet amazing masterpiece 🌈!
Lore question: if someone managed to actually trace the word "criminal", either through TAS or by writing it in one of the spots it teleports to, what would happen?
I think it would just give even more impossible like words until the ds battery dies or until the game crashes and gives the piracy is no party message
From 1:11, there is a following announcement in Japanese, “これで終わりです。あなたは滅びるでしょう。システムを破壊します。” If translated in English, it will be, like, “Game is over here. You will be ruined. The (game) system will be destroyed.” How terrible it is...!
