I think the reason the pixelated one was so difficult was for two reasons. One is that it’s based on Sonic mechanics since the character you fight is Somari, coming from a bootleg copy of Sonic the Hedgehog that replaces Sonic with Mario. Secondly, I think it’s meant to be unfair because that’s how a good majority of bootleg Sonic games are, extremely unfair. This is just my interpretation though, after all skill sets do differ between people. (Side note, favorite song in the mod, no question)

After a couple months of the mod being out, I was worried that Merg would never play this mod. But he did! And now I'm happy :)

here are some fun facts and origins for the characters *super horror mario* the character itself is based on a practically ancient piece of fanart with a psychotic mario holding a cleaver (fun fact in v1 he held it in the other hand) the poison mushrooms in the latter half of it's-a-me refence a mario.exe fangame *super horror peach/yoshi/the parabones* peach's design is based on a counterpart piece for peach while the yoshi is based on a jumpscare from a yoshi.exe fangame also the parabones is named john dick *so cool* the song is based on the nintendo direct that revealed the cast for the mario movie with chris pratt of course playing mario you can find future opponents and some of the devs in the chat (also said chat is random messages everytime) *nourshing blood* based on the bootleg 7 grandad the engine being a fleenstones nes game with mario for some reason the voice clips are from a streamer who made grandad into the meme he is known as joel from vinesauce the characters in the first part are either memes themselves or refrences to vinesauce (bonzai body buff luigi bob ross and i swear i see bulk bogan too) while the two in the pixel part are other botleg mario characters (the one on the left is kung-fu-mari if i rememeber) also girlfriend's little dance in the pixel section was added to v2.1 *mario sing and dance 9* this opponent is known as somari from a botleg of sonic for the nes that made a fusion of mario and sonic the ui is based mostly on another (sadly cancled) fnf mod known as funk mix while if i rememeber the stage is starlight zone from sonic one (as the botleg didn't go further) the reason bf and gf are a pikachu and eevee respectivly are due to one somari sequal replacing enemies with the two pokemon *alone* this song was in v1 and my god did it get an upgrade the character itself is based on the times up ending used in the beta of luigi's mansion hence he's known as beta luigi the hanging bf shadow is a refrence to a visual glitch in luigi's mansion where when thunder strikes under specific circumstances (i bellieve when luigi is calling someone from a specific phone) his shadow makes him look like he's hanging at multiple times you can hear tokaka's song a melody that shows up in various games the person makes (including the og luigi's mansion) last but not least beta mario has lyrics for his section as they were cut of here they are in full "luigi where did you go?" 29:06 this is based off of the unused game over screen for luigi's mansion, and a certain area of the game where a lightning strike would end up showing a poorly tended floating shadow of luigi, which people would say was luigi hanging.

I don't know how that pixel song is supposed to work, but I swear, someone else that I watched play that pixel song only lost 1 ring per mistake, not all of them... Hope you continue playing this mod, though! :D

I hope you'll continue and finish this mod! The rest of the song after this is just another level of amazing. Believe me, that one song you struggled is an out liar. Not saying there won't be more mechanics but it should be easier to tell and hopefully fair!

I was wondering if you'd play this mod or not, glad you decided to. I don't know much of the story behind the songs, I only know the story of the Luigi one. It's after an alternate ending to Luigi's Mansion where Luigi didn't have the courage to go in and save Mario.

The "caveman Mario" is Grandad, a character originating from a bootleg "Mario 7" videogame which was just a reskinned Flintstones game. This bootleg was played by Vinesauce Vinny is a kind of bootleg marathon. Grandad was popularized (created, really) by the channel Siivagunner, which took the character, the clips of Joel and the entire concept of the Flintstones bait and switch and ran with it. (For those who don't know, Siivagunner is a collaborative channel which produces seemingly legitimate versions of video game soundtracks containing mashups, jokes, original compositions and/or various bait and switches. Switching a melody out for the Flintstones theme is still one of the channel's main jokes.)

This is beta luigi from luigi's mansioj specifically the one from the game over(btw the whole hanging thing is actually a glitch that people thought was something else because it looked like someone was hanging which isn't specific to the beta or game over). In this mod luigi gave up on finding mario and now has depression over the fact that his brother may be confined to a painting for all eternity. Speaking of which the painting mario is actually a hallucination from luigi and not the actual mario whose fate is unclear.
