Wasted and missed opportunity. Even though I didn't like all of his music, *vocally,* Mario had it goin' on. Homeboy could sang through and through. No questions. By the closing of the aughts, there was a clear indication that *singing* would no longer be the focal point. Mr. Joe Thomas is revered, vocally. Musically, he had to deal w/ industry politics. You know, other artists sabotaging him, etcetera. Joe's interesting because he was *THERE,* but not quite _there._ An interesting career. From that era, folks typically go for Eric Benét and Brian McKnight. They're revered, internationally, as well. That helps nowadays. From Boyz II Men, Shawn Stockman had the cleaner, smoother voice. He wasn't doing 200 riffs/runs on every single word of the song. Sometimes Wayna would riff and run himself outta breath. Just overdoing it. Don't get me wrong, I still live for a dope-sick riff or run, but folks just abuse it nowadays. Musiq Soulchild is good on record, but live...eh. Not good. He's always been a simple, unseasoned singer (which isn't a problem), but lately, he's been tryna add some seasoning on it and he falls flat. Vocally, he's not that type of a singer. Don't give me Mr. Johnny Gill when you're really Tank. I love Musiq's _Mary Go Round._ I'm actually listening to that as I type this. It stays on repeat a lot. I'm approaching 40 minutes right now. _Halfcrazy_ is another one. I like the _Summer Madness_ remix as well. Whew, finally folks who like and talk about music the way I do. It's so hard to find folks who can hang w/me, musically, especially when it comes to *singing.* My specialty is singing which is where I am most comfortable. Dope interview, fellas.
