With the Major League Baseball 2013 playoffs rapidly approaching, I am on an absolute baseball high and needed to go back and play some Mario Superstar Baseball! Since I actually did not get to show off much in the way of full nine-inning games during my Let's Play, these few videos throughout the Fall Classic should fill that gap.
With the Jr. Fangs going up against the DK Wild Ones, it will certainly be difficult for the Fangs to generate some offense. Will Donkey Kong's team be able to score early then limit the offensive production of the opponent!? Find out in this video!
As I mentioned in the video, if you ever want to talk about major league baseball or baseball in general (particularly during the post-season), please do not hesitate to leave me a comment or send a private message. I am always open to sports talk!

There are a few teams that I really like in the NL: The Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, and Colorado Rockies. I especially enjoy interleague play when we see the two styles of baseball (AL and NL) clash for a few games in the regular season!

I was so happy for Cleveland last year! I mean they hugely improved with Francona as manager. Thank you for mentioning them :) Baseball was also my sport. I was always terrible at it, but I was obsessed!

The only tough thing about owner mode is that the Red Sox started the year with 6 straight away games, so you had to dig yourself out of a hole right from the start. Once you got going, though, it was great fun! So far, as great as newer baseball games are, nothing has topped MVP Baseball 2005.

Man, MVP 2005 is awesome! Still my go to baseball sim; it just never gets old. As a Blue Jays fan, this season has been pretty rough, but I've still been able to enjoy MLB in general. IMO the best thing about baseball in the last couple years has been the amazing young players that have burst onto the scene, obviously led by Mike Trout, who has been unbelievable yet again. In the NL Puig gets all the hype, but Jose Fernandez deserves just as much for the rookie year he just had.

The real reason MVP Baseball 2005 was so sweet was that the Astros where actually good.In 2015 we will rise again...

Thanks for coming back after Mario Baseball has been away for some time. Yeah, like I said in the video, baseball is my absolute favorite sport. I played it for a large part of my life and have been a huge follower since 2003. For me, Mario Superstar Baseball is an excellent blend of "Mario" and "Baseball." It has that crazy element of randomness to it without taking away from the fact that it is a baseball game and not just a free-for-all.

MVP Baseball 2005 was the best. With good ole Manny Ramirez on the cover. It just had great game modes like Owner Mode and that Homerun Derby game mode where you could hit the cars and the tractors driving around, that was my favorite game mode.

Red Sox proved that as well these past two seasons. Valentine's team was talented, but was just a mess under him. Now they have a lot of clubhouse guys like they did in '04.

It is a shame that the Yankees farm system is essentially other teams with losing records. The Red Sox, Dodgers, and Phillies are all guilty of it, too. That's why I'm so excited about the Pittsburgh Pirates this year; if that team could turn it around and win, that would be awesome!

I have to say that, as a Red Sox fan, I am very scared to face the Detroit Tigers. They really are a great time and I wouldn't be surprised if they took the pennant this year. They're going to have to make it past Boston and their beards first, though!

As an Astros Fan, I'm insanely depressed to see how bad they did, but at least the Marlins also broke a hundred losses... so that's a thing.

As much as I don't want to be biased, I have to say that the Red Sox are the favorites to win the American League divisional series. For the National League, it's a tough call between the Braves and the Dodgers, but I think I'm going to side with L.A. in that match-up. Personally, though, I would like to see the Pirates make it that far!

The Reds are another awesome success story from this year, I can't believe I failed to mention them! The NL Central overall is by far the best in baseball this year and any one of those three teams (Cards, Reds, and Pirates) have a chance to make a run for the pennant. The Reds have been a middle-of-the-road team for a while, but they've really turned things around these past two years. Maybe they'll eventually end St. Louis' dominance in that division

I'm not shocked about the Jays. The blue Jays proved that you can't just get a bunch of all-stars on your team and expect to win. You need chemistry, a good coach and other things to be successful. Miami proved that last year too.

The Rays did very well this season; at one point I would have definitely predicted them to overtake the Red Sox in the AL East and claim the division. Once Boston got their pitching situation together, though, the Rays were done. Still, Tampa Bay impresses me with how they've turned their team around and I wish them all the best in the playoffs. After all, Zobrist is on my fantasy team!

Pretty instense game there. My team is the Twins. I know they were really bad this year, but I don't know how for back to back years, they win 3 of 4 at Fenway. I'm pretty much pulling for the wild card winners to go to the World Series, particularly the Pirates and Rays. I have this game too, but to me it has weird controls so I prefer its sequel Super Sluggers. I hope you can check out my Sluggers LP I did over the summer which was a lot of fun! Can't wait to see more games on here. Good job

What are your opinions of John Farrell? And also, I'm a big Blue Jays fan, and this year was pretty disappointing, with all the injuries and whenever one player was in the groove, none of the other players seem to do well :/. And after the 11 game win-streak, I thought that meant something. But the Red Sox are doing incredibly well this year! Hopefully your teams makes it far, SM :)

My friends and I tried to do a whole season with a draft and everything when this game came out, but it only lasted for a few weeks. Still it's a lot of fun to play even to this day! Hopefully the Indians will keep holding onto that second wild card spot! =)

Yes, I do love seeing these great young talents emerge in major league baseball and Mike Trout is an excellent example. If only he could get off the Angels and on an actual team in contention... Also I agree Puig is unbelievably overrated, but he still a fun player to follow. Reminds me of the era of Manny Ramirez, except less arrogant. Finally, MVP Baseball 2005 is still the best baseball game around! I could go back and play it right now and it would still be amazing!

This may b off the main topic.. but im hoping the WiiU will release a Mario Baseball game, and using the gamepad on defense for pitching and fielding tactics. but really coz i havent owned Mario Supertar baseball or sluggers n watching this really wants me to play it.

My favorite team is the Boston Red Sox; I live about an hour's drive away from Boston and have been a fan my whole life. I guess it goes without saying, then, that my most hated MLB team is the New York Yankees. But we won't have to worry about the Yankees in October this year! =)

I understand that teams go through certain highs and lows in terms of winning seasons, but the Twins are pretty disappointing in that regard. From 2010 - 2011, they went from a 90-win team to a 60-win team and things aren't looking much better. Johan Santana will always be a Twins legend, though. Also I always sympathize with Cubs fans because they are so dedicated but haven't won an NL title since 1945. I'm rooting for them, though -- as a Boston fan, I know that curses are serious business!
