I always appreciated the incredible versatility of Mario's moveset in DK94, but even more than that, I appreciated the classy way it avoided grinding the game to a halt to give a tutorial.
After every few stages, Mario and Donkey Kong face off in battle. Once Mario wins, DK grabs Pauline and takes off and a cutscene begins. These usually involve a smug-looking Donkey Kong escaping to the opposite side of some obstacle that will appear in the coming stages. Instead of the game giving you dialogue boxes full of instructions, Mario demonstrates how to overcome these obstacles in the cutscenes themselves before resuming the chase.
They're effective, often quite funny, and an overall brilliant way of showing the player how to proceed. Why haven't more games done this?
Anyways, I always loved these scenes, and so I thought it'd be fun to pull them all together in this little mini-movie.
