The only reason Mario beats Sonic is because Mario defeated far stronger gods *at base form* Culex, Dreamy Bowser, Castle Bowser, Dark Star Core... (yeah he was with other people in most of those fights, but try it with Mario only and make sure others do not attack, you can still win)
