Bummed to hear that Cream of the Steam will continue its hiatus! It's my favourite segment of MinnMax (though yeah, covering that many game in such a short amount of time is difficult). I've purchased a handful of games because of it!
Man, 2023 has been such a great year for gaming. And we still have games like Wonder and Sonic Superstars to come. In addition to a slew of great 3D titles. Seems like there’s been at least one great title in practically every genre and type of game this year.
More videos with these three ladies please. It's wonderful having them individually, but together they're just wonderful. Great discussions this episode.
I'm kinda shock by Janet's and Kelsey's take on Mario Wonder. They're seriously the only 2 I have seen/listened to that gave a negative view on it. Everyone literally everyone including non Nintendo people I watch and listen to is over glowing about their experiences with Mario Wonder. A lot of those people went as far to say Mario Wonder is the best 2D Mario since Mario Bros. 3/Mario World. I do appreciate Kelsey saying she will have a different opinion on it once she gets the full game in her hands, but wow I was really shock by those negative takes, especially from Kelsey. Especially since literally everyone was glowing about their experience with it all over RU-vid and Spotify.
I'm seeing a lot of articles online calling 2023 another 1998, or at least comparing them. I'm not quite sure it's there yet, but if even a couple of these upcoming heavyhitters manage to pack a critical punch... we may well be in that realm.
And just like that The Making of Karateka goes right to the top of my want to “play” list. Never would have even heard about it if not for y’all so thanks!
Hey there Ben. Kinda of an off topic but this is driving me crazy. Some podcasts ago you talked about a song that always makes you cry. A song about aging. You said that the comments on the RU-vid video were really sweet. I loved the song but forgot the name and now can't find the podcast where you mentioned it. I know you read the comments so plz help!!!
I recently played Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, and they have a saying that works for the question of 100 Bens, and that is: "Even in great numbers; a weakling is a weakling still!" Sorry Ben
come on y'all, this new art style/direction for mario wonder is a massive improvement. that said, i do agree that it leans veryyy children's tv show. especially with cuter character models, talking flowers, and this being the first game off the heels of the more ...juvenile...mario movie
Regarding the topic about docu/compilation games inserted in the 2 tens, we should still include it in your year-end discussion. I'm all for celebrating the existence of a game that is a celebration of game history, this is an important angle and conversation that is valuable and is unique to Minnmax. Drawing attention to these kind of games and this part of the gaming industry is one of MinnMax's strengths and contributes to its identity in the vast world of game content creation. Reiterating these points in the year-end discussion will be greatly appreciated. If your concern is brevity, I'd rather you skip over mediocre games that Sony put out, tbh. They haven't been exciting at all.
Enjoyed listening to y’all talk about magic! I have been meaning to write in about it. Just got into it again this summer for the first time since high school.
Mario Wonder seems fine, but I agree with Ben. Maybe a little biased. But the 2D Mario’s have never grabbed me, I don’t know if this is moving the needle anyway
"bens angels" over here am i right? this is a reference to the television program "Charlie's Angels," in which 3 wemon fight crime and solve mysteries under the supervision of a mysterious man named "charlie." since ben is the only man on this episode and the other 3 guests are wemon the episode loosely paralels that shows cast dynamic. great show!...this show i mean..i have never actually seen charlies angels..well i saw the movie with Drew Barrymore. Tom Green was in one of them right?
