Nice video, very informative! How much work would need to be done to make it operational again? Do companies periodically 'maintenance' them so when they need to be put back into service, it is less work that needs to be done?
The guy explaining this is wrong. I worked with one of these machines in1966 The main engine , a Cat D398 ran the hoist and the drag. the cat D343 ran the generator for the swing motors, and the boom hoist, along with the aircompressor, common cooling fan, and the night digging lights.
@FordGuy61 This machine had a lot of copper and parts robbed out of it over the years by vandals, so to re-wire the entire machine and make necessary repairs to get it operational again would be an expense.
I thought maybe he got the engines wrong. I never ran one of these but I know the drag load is heavier than the hoist load and you still have to provide power for pneumatic and electric systems.
