Marisa is a national treasure. She is also beautiful in the inside. I was lucky enough to have met her way back in the day when I Dj'd at a small little spot called bOb's. Lower East Side NYC* She became a regular on my nights, mainly because she loves old school salsa music, and that was pretty much my forte back then. It's been awesome to see her flourish and age like pure fine wine. I look forward to seeing her bleeping movie 🥰

Weird she wasn't with the other members of A Different World when they had a reunion just a week or two ago. But comes up here and its a second mention because she knows people will be wondering. Most of the 30 and under crowd have no clue but they gave her a start.

They only do the cast that was there after season 1 for reunions. The show was retooled after season 1 to make it better and have a more authentic HBCU feel.

I watched her even before A Different World. I had a crush on her when she was ATWT. She was super cute, had dark short hair, tan and skinny. What can I say I was a teenager and I thought she was hot. In checking now, I see that we are the same age so it all lines up. Julianne Moore was also on at the same time. Pretty crazy.

"A Different World" is one of the most underrated shows. However, season 1 (which had Marisa Tomei) was awful, the show took off once Lisa Bonet and Marisa left the show while Dwayne and Whitley became the central characters. and it was never really explained why Marisa's character was going to an HBCU anyway. though you can tell part of her characters traits were given to Freddie Brooks
