...the day the writer killed Marissa is the day I broke all the DVDs into pieces. It hit me hard, i spent a whole month in depression. I went on to nickname a friend Marissa, just to keep the character's memory alive. 18yrs later, the name stuck.
You can always make believe that they had a happy ending. Meaning you can pretend to think they ended up together. I know it's not the same thing as what really happened but anything is better than nothing.
Everybody talk about how great the show was, actually it was a memorable series, but for me, I remember my life when I was watching the series, i was at my final year of high school my mom was alive she did not get cancer yet our life was easy, we were happy little family, but now I live alone wondering from one place to another. I wish i could see her face one last time, I do really hope that, I know it's impossible but still i wish I could.

Idk but Everytime I watch Ryan and Marissa here on YT,I feel like I'm in my 20s and I still couldn't get over the O C s 3 ending where they killed Marissa's character and for what reason? Unforgivable!!! Mischa has always been my fave and she really has a very beautiful face
I used to watch this in my early teens and I still can’t get over it 😭 I totally get what you mean, it transports you back to the age you were when you watched it somehow
I love this show! Such a comfort show but they ruined Summer and Seth & also Marissa & Ryan. Throughout the entire series they were so weird lol. But this show was truly ahead of it’s time. I wish it would’ve come out just after GG did! But I love them so much!
I am 58 years old and first of all to the creator of this video you have hit it waaaaay out of the park. thank you thank you as you managed to capture the unique epic love story we soooo needed but never got from the hack writers of the OC. Ryan and Melissa could have been the couple of the last 20 years but no these writers had to keep them apart and make Marissa a train wreck. No wonder Mischa left as what was there left for her character. How many times did we need Ryan just tell her how special she was and even in the last scene they couldnt . What a joke as she deserved so much more and ANYONE who watched this show 15 years ago KNEW they were the show. i have no horse in this race but at my age can write a story based on the pilot episode. Thanks for killing my binge love for this show writers. Marissa was such a fragile character and Ryan was her protector. Too bad you couldnt see this. See One Tree Hill for how to build on a pilot show. Peyton and Lucas is how you do it!
Beautiful comment. I just watched this show recently and instantly fell connected to the story of Ryan and Marissa. They truly loved each other so much and cared for one another but the writers ruined their magical chemistry with constant fights. Ryan and Marissa had that great spark like that of Dan and Serena of Gossip girl. Ryan and Marissa should have been endgame and they deserved a happy ending. Writers were stupid and ruined their characters.
I've been a Ben McKenzie fan since seeing this show. Him and Mischa made a high school love story completely genuine and accurate. I agree that the writers turned the series to trash trying to create drama.

He did. Ryan and marissa’s relationship, in all honesty was him fixing her mistakes. He loved her sure, but I don’t think that their relationship was that of equals.
@@daelenstonemeier490 Chemistry has nothing to do with that. Point is Ryan was most enthralled with Marissa and she with him. Their chemistry especially in Season 1 was undeniable. The writers failed them.
rewatching The OC and it’s so frustrating to see these two face problems after problems. and knowing Marissa dies, i kept wanting to scream at these two to just stop fighting cos she doesn’t have much time left. stupid writers

I don't see marissa and ryan being a dream couple. I never liked ryan tha way he always moved on so quickly at first he wanted her so bad when she was still in a relationship with luke. Then as soon as he had her he didn't care much about her he left her alone when she needed him the most. She was lost for a while cause her parents were a total mess all time. They Divorced, the father was bankrupt. He stole alot of money, almost got in jail. The mother Jump from one marrige to another. No one really cared about marissas Feelings this whole time that's why she started drinking and doing drugs. And ryan instead of trying to help her, he left her and jumped in to another Relationship with his First love theresa and even got her pregant.
Ugh I hates marissa. Too much drama and so ungrateful. I liked Ryan and Lindsay better. He was always happy and smiling with Lindsay. With marissa he felt more like a babysitter.
