I wouldnt want to forget "Blackbeard"..... We bristolians are proud that Blackbeard is from Bristol.. in fact most pirates were... Why do so many people say we should be ashamed of things... humans not so long ago killed each other with brutal weapons in melee combat... these people were celebrated at their time it's called evolution of life....
John Cabot sailed from Pill, Somerset,in 1497 as the Avon would of taken a few days to navigate and Pill would have been the last stop before the open sea...Poor old Pill always gets forgotten when without it and the skill of its men Bristol would have never thrived like it did!
All I remember is the ferry, before the motorway bridge was built..... And the main river stations were seamills and Shirehampton....... Never heard of much happening in Pill.........
phil woodfordjjj “never heard of much happening in Pill”. Lol. You must have lived a very sheltered life then! Plenty of info on the history of the village if you can be bothered to look!!
@@PillSharks My memory did serve. 21 pubs, river pilots and may be provisional....... Oh, and a pottery, and of course the infectious diseases hospital at Ham Green.......
@@PillSharks Wicki is even better........ Still not a lot happening in Pill.... But I do believe Adge Cuttler pened a ditty called "Pill Pill I love thee still" does that count?
