Good video sir. Just needs a little more carbon black inside the exhausts, if you will forgive me for nit picking. Having never used pastels, could you tell me if you matt varnish over the pastels, once applied to the model ?
Thanks Roger, pastels are tricky, i find that if you spray a clear coat on them they mostly disappear unless you have really laid the pastels on thick. I usually do them as the final step after the last dull coat goes down.
+David Eichenlaub Thanks mate, I think one of the wonderful things about this hobby is that you do it for your own enjoyment, so their's no pass or fail, just the joy of creating and developing your skills and technique at your own pace, the main thing for me is to have fun.
Yeah, it's hard getting started and taking it to the next level. Which for me is painting. I read somewhere that process was the funnest part for some people. Bc u get to bring your vehicle to life. And the one technique I was able to do properly was so fun... I want to do more. I think I'm glad I didn't buy an airbrush straight away though. I thought that may have been the missing piece before I learned more. Seems like I can do w spray cans the following: the priming, base coat (camouflage), and clear coat (like varnish, gloss, or lacquer- which is used to highlight detail. Make it shiny, provides the right surface for weathering w oils, and seals in bottom layers. Is that right? Is there something I overlooked somewhere about keeping enamels and acrylics separate? Thanks for your reply. Haven't been able to find the best resources and reference materials for methods and techniques. I really like building them a lot too. I was gonna leave it at that. But, recently decided to pursue painting them.
Sorry for the super long reply. I find the construction and building process really relaxing. It's nice to sit in front of the TV and sorry through sprues searching for pieces, then fitting them together, and then making it permanent w the glue. And, then it's satisfying when you start to see it take shape.
What supplies did you use to create the dust effect? I know you said it a a diluted solution, but what did it consist of? I'm trying to implement the same effect onto my T-34
Hi there Halidon. Just a quick question.. What colour did you use for the base colour of the model? I'm doing this exact model but can't seem to find the right colour
Hi Rolos, that's a tough question actually because i don't often use a pure color out of the bottle, but I think with the T34 I sprayed a base color of Vallejo Olive Green with a touch of black added and then Mig Russian Green with multiple sprays of either slightly darker or slightly lighter depending upon where on the tank i was aiming at.
Hi Halidon, Looks terrific, if this is your beginning attempts at coming back I can only say you will be in the "pro league" very soon. Job well done. Dan
Crystal_Shadow_ 8 that's a tougher question than it sounds cos I use many different colors in layers, anything in the olive green tones went on, plus I mix them together, add white or brown then go over it all later with oil paints. I'm not an efficient painter, i naff about forever with painting
