Circle City Leaders alum Mark Carter shares his thoughts on being part of the 2022 CCL program.
RISE INDY's Circle City Leaders program is an eight-month program that offers two tracks: “Education Champions” and “Candidates + Campaigners.” Participants in both tracks will learn the history of K-12 education in our city and state and how to increase civic participation and individual impact in education spaces. The conversation will be guided by executive-level leaders and subject matter experts. Fellows also will receive individual professional coaching and support.

"What’s up, guys, my name is Mark Carter. I was in the Circle City Leaders Class of 2022. It was one of the most impactful things I’ve done in my career.
"I’ve done leadership trainings through the Congressional Black Caucus and Planned Parenthood, and this one will leave an impact on me for the rest of my life.
"I really learned a lot about the educational landscape, educational equity in Indianapolis, but also how to tell my story, which a lot of the facilitators helped us with.
"I gained a lot of knowledge, gained a lot of friendship and fellowship with my fellow alumni.
"I recommend it to anyone who ’s trying to learn more about education in Indianapolis and to strengthen their skills as a leader.
